Just as the attractions in
Africa at
Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park are some of the best in the entire park, the dining options are as well. Here, guests can nosh on authentic African flavors at the Tusker House Restaurant, dine with Donald Duck and friends at Donald’s Safari Breakfast or get a tasty bite to eat at one of the two quick service restaurants in the area, the Kusafiri Coffee Shop or Tamu Tamu Refreshments.
The main restaurant in Africa is the
Tusker House Restaurant. This establishment used to be an a la carte restaurant, but in late 2007 it was converted into a buffet-only eatery. As one would expect with a buffet, there are a ton of food options to choose from, including a bread station, a table with sliced cold cuts, a salad station, fresh fruit and a ton of side dishes, such as Jollaf rice, vegetable samosas, hummus with baba ghanoush or spiced tandoori tofu. But even with all of those dishes, the main attraction for this buffet still remains the on-stage rotisserie, where fresh chicken is served up to patrons right off the rotisserie.
The Tusker House Restaurant may serve as a lunch and dinner buffet later in the day, but each morning, Donald and his friends “awaken the day” with
Donald’s Safari Breakfast, the only character dining experience offered at
Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. In addition to visits from your favorite characters and those famous Mickey-shaped waffles, Donald’s Safari Breakfast includes all of your breakfast favorites such as sausage and bacon, scrambled eggs, baked goods and oatmeal along with unique offerings such as frittatas, corned beef hash, honey-glazed rotisserie ham, cheese blintzes, beef quiche and yam casserole.
If you don’t have the time or money to visit the Tusker House or Donald’s Safari Breakfast, you still have two
quick service options in the area that will get you on the go in a hurry. The first, the Kusafiri Coffee Shop, is a bakery that specializes in muffins, bagels, assorted pastries, fruit, yogurt and coffee to get your day started off on the right foot. But, if you miss the morning hours, be sure to still take a peek in any hour of the day, as this restaurant also has cakes and cookies on hand throughout the day. Tamu Tamu Refreshments is the other quick service option in Africa, and while it may not have a ton of items on the menu, this eatery does offer more standard American cuisine options such as a hamburger or chocolate milkshake.
