Alone Time for Parents

A trip to the Walt Disney World Resort will most likely revolve around your children, but that is not to say that parents can’t have some time on their own too! In fact, Disney has kept adults in mind just as much as they have children when it comes to planning activities and ways for everyone to enjoy their vacation to the Happiest Place on Earth to the fullest. From childcare to services and activities that are meant only for adults, there are many ways for the entire family to enjoy their time away from home, even if they are away from each other for a short period of time.

When you are at home and want to have some adults-only time, the easy way to do so is by hiring a babysitter that you know and trust. At the Walt Disney World Resort, you don’t have to worry about leaving your kids with strangers if you want to get away, because Disney has six resorts (Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Resort, Disney’s Yacht Club, Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge) on their property that have in-house childcare services, which are basically clubs run by childcare professionals that are playgrounds for children with all sorts of games, DVDs, arts and crafts, food and endless amounts of entertainment.

In addition to the in-house childcare services, Disney is also affiliated with a company that provides babysitters to Walt Disney World Resort guests right in your hotel room. Kid’s Nite Out is a company that sends caregivers out to your Walt Disney World Resort hotel room to watch and entertain your little ones while you are away, or to simply be on hand to assist you if you need an extra hand while on vacation. These caregivers are certified in child/infant CPR and basic first aid and rates are based per hour upon the number of children they are watching. Reservations are required for this service at least 24 hours in advance by calling (407) 828-0920 or (800) 696-8105.

Now that you have your childcare set up, all you need are plans! Disney has many adults and couples retreats, ranging from a visit to one of the luxurious spas on property to a romantic meal for two. If it is the ultimate in relaxation that you are looking for, consider booking a spa package at either Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa or Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. While any of the vast massage and body therapy treatments are sure to be the perfect getaway, the couples treatments at the Grand Floridian Spa is sure to be the highlight of you entire vacation. With a special “couples room” at the spa, you can experience either a Grand Romantic Evening package or a Couples Instructional Massage. Call 407-824-2332 to book any of these wonderful packages at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the flagship hotel at the Walt Disney World Resort.

While a day at the spa would surely appeal to just about anyone, a good meal might sound even more appealing! Luckily, the hotels at Disney offer a plethora of fine dining options, once again located mostly at the deluxe category resorts. For top-of-the-line cuisine, you can opt for the California Grill, located on the top floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort. With a perfect outside balcony that overlooks the Magic Kingdom Park, a perfect dinner can be topped off with a perfect view of Wishes, the nighttime fireworks spectacular that illuminates the sky over Cinderella Castle. Or, you could cross just over the Seven Seas Lagoon to Victoria & Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (inquire about the chefs table located exclusively for one couple per night inside the kitchen – complete with your own maid and butler) or try out Narcoossee’s, which is located directly on the waterfront. If either of those restaurants doesn’t offer you the privacy that you are looking for, this hotel also offers private dining out on the beach each evening. Simply call 407-824-2578 to set up a private meal, or 407-WDW-DINE up to 180 days in advance for reservations at any Disney full-service restaurant.

If you are looking to do something a little out of the ordinary, the Disney resort hotels also offer many different ways for couples to enjoy themselves in less traditional ways. For example, you could take a 45-minute horseback tour or carriage ride through the wilderness at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds (407-939-7529) or trek to “Martha’s Vineyard” at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, where you will find a wine bar and plenty of seating for two! And, a perfect way to end any day at Disney is aboard a fireworks cruise, where you can sail away to watch either Wishes or Illuminations from your own private pontoon boat.

All of the above are great ways for parents to spend some time away from the kids, but it is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the multitude of things adults can enjoy at the Walt Disney World Resort. There is also Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney, Disney’s BoardWalk and many more nighttime entertainment options. And while you may not think of the four Disney theme parks as a great way to spend alone time, it can be a great way to see and do the things you want to do while not having to wait in line for the children’s rides! If the theme parks are in your plans, however, don’t forget to book your tickets right here at OrlandoFunTickets.com, your No. 1 online source for discounted Disney tickets!
