Asia at Disneys Animal Kingdom
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park has six lands – Discovery Island, Dinoland U.S.A., Asia, Camp Minnie-Mickey, Africa and Rafiki’s Planet Watch. One of the most enchanting of all is Asia, home to arguably the park’s biggest draw, Expedition Everest, in the midst of the mythical kingdom of Anandapur. But, this one ride is far from the only thing you will find in the land of Asia, which was the last of the six lands to be completed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. As we mentioned earlier, Expedition Everest has become the park’s signature attraction since it opened in April of 2006. This thrill ride takes guests on a winding adventure on the icy Mount Everest on board the Anandapur Rail Service, complete with an 80-foot drop and a track that takes its riders both forwards and backwards during this exciting adventure. But, the thrilling speeds and turns aren’t even this ride’s main feature – just wait until you encounter the scary creature that resides over this domain, the Yeti, otherwise known as the Abominable Snowman! Expedition Everest may pack enough thrills in this one attraction for the entire park, but Asia holds yet another ride that can induce yet another scare! The Kali River Rapids takes guests on a fast-pace, turbulent ride down the Chakranadi River on 12-passenger rafts through a tropical rain forest. While there are many surprises headed your way as you travel through the Kali River Rapids, there is one thing that won’t surprise you at all – the fact that you are guaranteed to get very wet! The final attraction in Asia provides a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the most exotic animals in the mystical Anandapur Royal Forest of Southeast Asia. The Maharajah Jungle Trek is one of the many trails guests can explore all through Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, but this one is unlike all the rest, as guests encounter stalking tigers, Komodo dragons, tapirs and other animals guests most likely have never seen firsthand before. The attractions, restaurants and shops in Asia are sure to be on everyone’s agenda at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, but they are only the tip of the iceberg in terms of what you will find throughout the rest of the park and at the Walt Disney World Resort.
