If you do make your way down to Central Florida, be sure to make a visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, one of the four theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort. This park has received some major upgrades in the previous few years, including a new afternoon parade, new world-class attractions and even new shows, with more to come in the ensuing months. Located right beside the Hollywood Hills Amphitheatre (home to Fantasmic!) is the 1,500-seat Theater of the Stars, where Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage entertains guests several times per day. This show opened back in 1991, just two years after the opening of the park, to coincide with the opening of the animated feature “Beauty and the Beast.” The original version of the show has since been altered (the original version featured scenes from the movie out of sequence), but the new version, which has the songs in order of when they appear on screen, debuted in 2001 and has remained unchanged ever since. The plot of the show is basically a miniature version of the movie, with all of the popular characters, scenes and songs that have made “Beauty and the Beast” one of the timeless Disney classic animated features.

While there are many new attractions to be seen at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it is refreshing for many true Disney fans to see that shows like Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage (currently the longest-running stage show at the Walt Disney World Resort) are still running to commemorate some of the films that older Disney fans have grown up with and that younger Disney fans are beginning to fall in love with years later.
