Coming to Epcot!
Epcot will be feature more cultural events than ever this September 28-November 11. All this culture will come from the 12th Annual International Food and Wine Festival. Disney has really out done itself this time around. The 2007 theme, 'Tastefully Inspired', promises an artistic showcase of memorable tastes.
2007 will be different from previous years of food and wine heaven in that every country will also incorporate paintings inspired by food and wine. The artwork will, of course, be an authentic piece of work painted by an individual from its respective country. The event's planners hope that the art will complement the food and wine nicely.
"Our festival theme, 'Tastefully Inspired,' is an opportunity to emphasize the relationship between two expressions of art—the canvas and the table," says Nora Carey, festival manager. "We're showcasing great artwork from around the world that celebrates food and wine in many scenes. And while the theme is an inspirational springboard for our culinary talent, it also lets us tell stories to our guests that will surprise, enlighten, and embolden them to think about food in a new way."
This year's line up includes over 25 stands of international food and wine options. In addition to the eleven resident countries in the World Showcase (France, Italy, Mexico, Morocco, America, China, Japan, Germany, Canada, United Kingdom), guests will have the opportunity to sample food and wine from places like Brazil, Greece, Africa, and more. At each stand, guests have the opportunity to sample small portions of regional dishes and/or regional wines. Each small plate of food ranges in price from $1.50-$4.50.
As if that weren't enough entertainment to keep guests busy for a day, visitors will also enjoy cooking demonstrations, celebrity chef appearances wine and beer seminars, culinary exhibits, and Eat to the beat concerts.
Among the many Celebrity Chefs slated to appear this year are Cat Cora, Alan Wong, Jeff Henderson, Keegan Gerhard, Colette Peters Warren Brown, and more. The Eat to the Beat! Concert series occurs three times every evening at the America Gardens Theatre. World-class entertainers will perform classic rock, oldies, funk, and jazz hits.
