I always like to eat my desserts before dinner, especially when on vacation, so let’s start with some sweet treats:
Perhaps one of the most well-kept secrets and yet most beloved Disney treat is a Dole Whip. This delicious blend of vanilla ice cream and pineapple can be eaten soft-serve or floating in pineapple juice. The natives call it heaven.
The EPCOT Resort area is home to many different flavors from around the world. However, one of the best sweets on the international block is not located in a country at all. Just after you cross the bridge from Future World, headed towards the World Showcase, there is a small stand on the right that sells “Sticky Beavers.” Be careful though, these sweet glazed pecans come in a paper cone that will be empty before you know it.
If you are the adventurous type, we encourage you to try your luck at the candy in Japan at EPCOT’s World Showcase. While you might not know what the wrapper says, you’ll likely get something good. Like, for instance, candy with a rice wrapper that dissolves in your mouth.
The Pop Century Resort serves up its theme on a unique platter called Twinkie Tiramisu. It’s a new twist on an old classic that you won’t find anywhere else.
Chocolate Lovers Beware! The Downtown Disney Resort area holds a restaurant that is far too dangerous for those with a sweet tooth. The Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop is both an ice cream store AND a chocolate shop. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu here and if you stop into the chocolate shop at just the right time, you might even score a free sample.
If it’s something more nutritious you are looking for, you can’t go wrong with a giant turkey leg from any of the Walt Disney World Resorts. The massive legs come from 40-50 pound turkeys and are 1.5 pounds each.
The Main Street Bakery in the Magic Kingdom not only has delicious baked treats, it also serves up fresh fruits and healthy sandwiches.
Okay, enough of the food talk, I’m getting hungry! The next time you visit the magical land of Disney, remember to try these magical treats. In the mean time, buy your Discount Disney Tickets now at OrlandoFunTickets.com and get to snackin’!
