"Where Dreams HapPin"!!

This September, Disney Pin Trading fanatics will convene once again for an entire week of Pin trading festivities. This year's theme, in keeping with the park's “Year of a Million Dreams,” will be "Where Dreams HapPin." All Disney guests are welcome to take part in the event. However, added registration costs must be paid in order to participate in some of the event’s more exclusive happenings.

So what exactly is Disney Pin Trading, and why all the big fuss? It started in 1999 and since then Walt Disney Resort guests all around the world have become obsessed with the collection of small metal pins. Guests cite many different reasons for taking up the unusual hobby. Some enjoy the camaraderie they have built with other pin traders and others just like the pins.

Pins carry many different values. The worth of a Disney pin depends on a number of things. For instance, when it was bought, where it was traded, whether or not it is a limited edition, etc. Trading occurs at all of the Disney Parks, as well as online and through mail.

Pin Trading enthusiasts are easy to spot in the parks. If they don’t have a bright lanyard covered with shiny pins hanging around their neck, they are wearing a fanny pack or better yet, a vest covered with pins. This is so that they can trade with other random park goers and Disney Cast Members. Guests are allowed to trade up to two pins with each cast member per day. This can be great for collectors because special edition pins are randomly distributed to cast members every night, and when a guest asks to trade, a cast member can not say no (for the most part).

Interested in starting your own collection? It’s easy! Just buy a pin at any official Disney store and start trading! It’s more addicting that you think, we promise. Before you begin though, here is a bit of pin etiquette:

- Try not to touch another person’s lanyard/pins. Ask to see them closer instead.
- If you are trading pins with a cast member, it can not be a duplicate of any pin they already have on their lanyard.
- You can not trade using money while on Disney Park grounds.
- To trade with a Disney employee, your pin must be metal and have a Disney affiliation on the front.

For more pin trading tips, Disney has actually published information on how to partake.

Pin trading is just one of the many fun things to do while at a Disney Theme Park. The hobby is something people of all cultures and ages can really get into. Orlando Fun Tickets offers you the most reliable and discounted tickets so you can save some money and get a head start on a fun collection.
