If there is one animal that makes everyone think of Florida, it’s the alligator. These amazing creatures are a living, breathing piece of history. Seeing an alligator is like going back to days long past, when dinosaurs ruled and everyone else just tried to stay out of the way. Florida offers you a great place to see these remarkable animals up close and personal.
Gatorland, located on the South Orange Blossom trail, offers more than enough for any tourist to leave happy. Ride the Gatorland Iron Horse and watch from above as they swim and interact with each other. Check out the Gator Jumparoo Show and be amazed at the abilities of these reptiles as they jump to heights you never thought possible in their quest to get food from trainers. Check out the Wrestling show and learn all about the animal from a gator wrangler as he performs stunts that will leave you amazed. You can also tour a breeding marsh, where you’ll learn even more about them.

Contrary to the name, Gators are not the only animals you will see when you visit. Gatorland also features a variety of other reptiles, including some of the most dangerous snakes around. Definitely not for the faint of heart. For those of you who prefer more cuddly creatures, check out Allie’s Barnyard. You’ll get to pet some of the cutest creatures you’ve ever seen, including Gracie the goat. There are also deer, ducks, chickens and more. Besides getting to pet them, you can also feed them and get your pictures taken them so you’ll remember these adorable animals forever.

Birds are another species on display here. In the Very Merry Aviary, you can see some of the most beautiful breeds around, including Lorikeets, a type of parrot. These colorful animals love visitors and will gladly accept the nectar you can buy in the aviary. Seeing one of these birds up close is sure to be an experience you won’t forget. That’s not all, though.
Kids love bright colors, glitter and other things like that- especially when it’s on them! Take your kids to Jorge’s Fun Face Painting and let your child choose from a wide range of designs. It’s sure to delight them. Don’t forget to have that camera handy! Gatorland also features a shop where you can choose from a variety of characters for a perfect souvenir. Parents will love the changing stations the park has.

After all this, you’ll probably want to cool off- this is Florida, after all. If so, check out Gator Gully Splash Park. It features gator-shaped water guns to squirt each other with, giant egrets that spill water, and a fountain that will provide kids with hours of fun. You can also cool off by taking a seat under one of the pavilions. Gatorland also hosts birthday parties. What kid wouldn’t love that?
