Cypress Gardens- New Owners!
Cypress Gardens Adventure Park is Florida’s original theme park. It first opened way back in 1936; before Disney, before Universal and before SeaWorld! It was opened as a family-owned botanical garden attraction and then expanded to a full-fledged theme park. In those good old days, Cypress Gardens was frequented by tourists and locals alike, and it even played a background role in some Hollywood movies. Over the years, Cypress Gardens suffered its share of financial woes and had a few different owners (including Anheuser Busch, owners of SeaWorld and Busch Gardens). The park eventually closed its doors in 2003 but was reborn a year later despite suffering damage and construction delays after three huge hurricanes hit central Florida that fall.
Since its reopening in 2004, Cypress Gardens has fought against more financial woes to keep on improving and enhancing their attractions to draw crowds into their beautiful gardens. As recently as this past June, the park opened Starliner, a breathtaking wooden roller coaster they acquired from another historical Florida landmark, Panama City’s Miracle Strip amusement park. This joins the park’s existing spectacular coaster thrills, the Triple Hurricane, the Swamp Thing, the Okeechobee Rampage and the Fiesta Express. All total, there are almost 40 rides at Cypress Gardens, from coasters to crazy to family to kiddie. Not to mention the gorgeous gardens and the stupendous shows! There truly is something for everyone at this bit of nostalgic Old Florida.
Cypress Garden’s new owners will no doubt continue the progress that has been made in the past couple of years, and we look forward to seeing what they have in store for the adventurous guests that pass through their gates. Make it a point to visit this historical landmark on your next Orlando visit. It’s easy as pie when you get your tickets at OrlandoFunTickets.com, your one-stop ticket shop.
