More News on Food and Wine Festival
There are just about three weeks left to the Food and Wine Festivities, and there’s plenty of news to report on what’s been going on. This past weekend, many enviable athletes and energetic exercisers toured the Festival grounds with no plan on dining or drinking, as Epcot played host to Disney’s Race for the Taste 10K. Participants in this year’s 10K race began the trek at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex, ran through Disney-MGM Studios before cruising around Epcot’s World Showcase and finishing up just past Spaceship Earth in Future World. More than 3,000 runners participated this year’s endeavor, and the proceeds will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
As far as the food goes, most everyone agrees that the choices are amazing. After doing some research, it does appear there are a few foodie favorites that should definitely not be missed if you are hitting the Festival this year. Mexico’s delectable dishes are always on the most-wanted list, and the Chilaquiles definitely made the grade this year. Surprisingly enough, the seared buffalo dish being served up at the Three Sisters Café booth sponsored by the State of Oklahoma is getting some rave reviews. But it’s really no surprise that Samuel Adams Octoberfest leads the list of beer favorites at the Hops and Barley Market.
Two of the most frequently named favorites found this year can be found at the Ireland booth, and they are the robust Boxty Potato Pancake and the Bailey’s Frozen Irish Coffee. And never to be left out, France is serving up a luscious liquor contribution to this year’s favs with their Sparkling Pomegranate Kir. So make a note, and be sure to enjoy these and as many other divine treats as you can fit in your belly!
