Epcot Gets Robo Coaster
Of all of the Disney theme parks, Epcot is the one that really focuses on learning. Along with the cultural experiences of going to the World Showcase Pavilion and learning about countries from China to France, the INNOVENTIONS pavilion of Epcot teaches kids and adults about the marvels of science. This hall features fully interactive exhibits and games along with Segway rides and video games. For the tech fiends in all of us, INNOVENTIONS is a great place to explore, but without a big ride like Soarin’ or Mission Space, a lot of people skip over the science exhibits and miss out on a lot of fun. Well now INNOVENTIONS will be getting a brand new scientific attraction that will be providing plenty of thrills and more guests to the area.
The KUKA Robotics Corporation have finally completed the Sum of all Thrills attraction inside the pavilion. The KUKA RoboSim 4-D simulators will allow guests to create their own coaster ride—without really going anywhere. There is no track inside the INNOVENTIONS hall, just a set of 4 giant robotic “arms” that feature a carbon-fiber pod at the end. Inside this pod is where you and your ride partner will have a seat and design a coaster experience just for you. Once the pod’s hood closes down over you, only your legs dangle free, giving you the feeling of being on an inverted track.
Using quick jerks, turns, wind, stereo sound and high-definition displays, you will feel as if you were on an actual rollercoaster. There are even different climate experiences to make this attraction as realistic as possible. Stu Shepherd, the President of the KUKA Robotics Corporation, thinks that the Sum of All Thrills will fit in perfectly with INNOVENTIONS.
