A Spotlight on Fort Wilderness

Modeled after the architecture and lifestyle of the American 1900’s, you will see plenty of wood and Native American artifacts in this giant hotel. There are three accommodation choices with Fort Wilderness. You can either camp out in an RV for an authentic outdoorsy experience, or you could stay in a cabin. For the ultimate experience you can rent one of the 181 villas, which is considered part of the Disney Deluxe Resort style. There is a beautiful 7 story lobby that took 85 loads of Lodgepole Pine to construct. The fireplace is a massive 82 feet tall, keeping the lobby warm and the ambience true to the wilderness theme. You might be in Florida, but when you step inside the Fort Wilderness lobby you will feel like you were transported to a mountain lodge in the old west.
You have great amenities like the top of the line restaurant Artist Point and a beautiful waterfall-style pool. On the outside they have an Old Faithful-inspired geyser that mimics the famous Yellowstone National Park natural wonder. Fort Wilderness also has a special treat for its guests and guests of the Walt Disney World Resort starting November 29th—you can take a sleigh ride through 700 acres of beautiful land! Sure, it’s Florida and we don’t have snow, but the weather is great and the sleigh is drawn by beautiful horses. 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 kids fit on the sleigh and the ride lasts a perfect 25 minutes.
The sleigh ride is a special holiday treat from the wonderful Fort Wilderness resort!
