New Years at Walt Disney World

Epcot serves alcohol, so it’s a more popular choice with adults and draws a larger crowd—definitely something to consider if you’re bringing the little ones along. The biggest attraction at Epcot during New Year’s Eve is the “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” fireworks show for the countdown to 2010. All of the different pavilions at the World Showcase have small events to demonstrate how they celebrate the New Year, which is always cool to check out. Epcot will be open from 9 a.m.-1 a.m.
Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios there will be plenty of music to dance to and a great parade to watch. “Lights, Camera, Happy New Year!” will be the themed parade of the Disney’s Hollywood Studios park and the Mulch, Sweat & Shears band will be playing under Mickey’s sorcerer hat. There will also be a live DJ playing at 6:30 and the park will be open from 8 a.m. to midnight.
If you decide to head to the Magic Kingdom, which has perhaps the best fireworks display of all the parks, the park will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. You will be able to see the “Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It” parade during the day and the “SpectroMagic” parade at night. Once it’s time to say goodbye to 2009, you will view the “Fantasy in the Sky” fireworks show to welcome the New Year at the happiest place on Earth. Bring your most comfortable shoes and check the weather before you go to the park to make sure you ring in the New Year warm and happy. Enjoy the parks and Happy New Year!
