2009 is almost over and 2010 is just weeks away. For Harry Potter fans that have been counting down the days to the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, we know you can’t wait for the spring time! There have been plenty of rumors regarding what the newest addition to Islands of Adventure will feature, and now if you’re planning a trip to the Orlando theme parks all you need to do is pick up the latest Harry Potter DVD for a sneak peek at what’s to come!

When you buy Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince you will get the chance to watch an 11 minute featurette regarding the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. While local Orlando newspapers broke details about the park on paper, this special DVD feature will give you plenty of visuals including interviews with the actors, artwork and video of the artist’s renderings of the park. Like you might have read before, the main attraction of the newest addition to the Universal Studios Orlando Resort family will be Hogwart’s Castle. You can already see the castle being constructed if you visit the Universal Studios parks, but the DVD feature lets you know what you will see once the park is complete.

Food wise you’ll be able to enjoy Butterbeer, which Universal executive chef Steven Jayson says “is great, real comforting and nice and smooth going down and you get a (foam) mustache". Over at Honeydukes you can enjoy chocolate frogs, cauldron cake and other candy. If you want your own wand like Harry and his friends, you can stop by Ollivanders where a wand will magically select guests as a wand selects Harry in the movies.

As for the rides. Dueling Dragons is now the Dragon Challenge and will feature props from Goblet of Fire. The Flying Unicorn will now be Flight of the Hippogriffs and feature aspects of the “magical creatures cast.” The trademark dark ride of the island will be located in Hogwart’s Castle and is titled “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.” The Potter crew (Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint) have all filmed scenes for this ride, which we’re guessing will be similar to Spiderman over at Marvel Superhero Island.
