Latin Food at the WDW
South Florida is a melting pot for Latin American cultures, and it seems like some of that influence has traveled up to Central Florida and right into the Walt Disney World Resort! It’s no secret Walt Disney was interested in Latin culture. Back in the day when he made Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros Walt and his group of friends and animators went to South America on a government-sanctioned trip to explore and learn from the South American people. If you go to Epcot you can visit the Mexico pavilion at the World Showcase and enjoy their delicious restaurant and brand new tequila bar. During the Food & Wine Festival you can enjoy other Latin food from countries like Peru, Spain and more. Now at The Refreshment Port in Epcot’s World Showcase you will find a new Latin menu to get you a satisfying, delicious and quick bite while you’re exploring Epcot’s best rides like Soarin’, Test Track, and Spaceship Earth. The Refreshment Port Menu used to feature French fries from McDonald’s before it started to sell hotdogs. Just recently it adapted their Latin food menu and will now be selling all kinds of goodies for Epcot guests to enjoy. Out of all of the parks, you can find some of the best food at Epcot and this new menu of quick treats sounds great! Empanadas will be available at the Refreshment Port and you can have seafood, beef or a cheese and beef option. If you want a Latin-style combo meal, you can pair your empanada with some tostones, which are crispy fried plantains that are sometimes topped with a little bit of salt for that extra crunch. If you want to enjoy a bit of dessert on a hot day you can enjoy dulce de leche ice cream, which is similar to caramel.
One their drink menu, hot tea, coffee and hot cocoa are available for when it’s chilly or when you need some caffeine. On hot days you can enjoy an ice latte, ice mocha, or ice cappuccino with a great French Vanilla flavor. If you are of legal age you can enjoy a Caribbean Latin drink, the traditional Bacardi Mojito! This is a great addition to the Refreshment Port and Epcot overall.
