Enjoying Epcot

Epcot was originally written as EPCOT, an acronym standing for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. If you were to look at design concepts for this theme park of the future, you would see that Walt Disney wanted EPCOT to be an actual city, instead of a park. The plans for that fell through after Walt’s death before the Magic Kingdom, the first park here in Florida, opened.
Today we have Epcot, recognized mostly because of the giant globe that can be seen from miles away. That globe houses Spaceship Earth, a classic ride that takes you on a journey through the evolution of modern civilization. There’s Mission Space, where you can experience what it’s like to shuttle off into space. Then you can play at the Innovations Pavilion where plenty of exhibits teach you about things from fire safety to how to ride a Segway. If you want to take a tour of the world you can visit the various pavilions of the World Showcase and travel from Japan to France to Mexico and the USA.
But another great way to enjoy Epcot is at one of their fabulous festivals. If you decide to get some discount Disney tickets you can enjoy the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival. Not only can you learn great ways to maintain your own garden and fine-tune your green thumb, but all of Epcot is transformed into a gorgeous garden. There are character topiaries (expect plenty of Tinker Bell and Alice in Wonderland this year) as well as Minnie’s Butterfly Garden. As usual there are great performances by musical guests and plenty of food. So make sure you come to the Walt Disney World Resort to enjoy Epcot!
