The Walking Dead Rumored to Infect Halloween Horror Nights
We know what you’re thinking. It’s only May. We still have Universal Orlando’s Summer Concert Series and Rock the Universe to get through before we can even begin to think about Halloween Horror Nights. So why are we already talking about it? Because in just four short months, the Orlando theme park will begin its annual 25-night horror fest and rumor has it this year’s Halloween Horror Nights theme is zombie-licious!
With the rumor mill spewing out tales of this year’s Halloween Horror Nights being a two-park event and including Las Vegas headliners Penn & Teller what really perked up our ears and stopped our hearts was the rumor that Halloween Horror Nights 2012 would be themed around the hit zombie drama The Walking Dead. If it is true this would be a huge cross promotional event with AMC as The Walking Dead will return for its third season just as Halloween Horror Nights opens.
Halloween Horror Nights sources are saying that the event could feature a Walking Dead themed attraction, most likely a maze. With the Alice Cooper themed maze last year at Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood being such a success, rumor has it Universal Orlando wants a piece of the puzzle. Could the maze be prison-themed after what we saw in the last scene of The Walking Dead season finale? Possibly. If so it is sure to be one terrifyingly a-maze-ing addition and one you’re sure to never escape from.
Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights official Facebook page hasn’t revealed anything yet, neither has its website but if it’s anything like last year, we can expect the hint and teasers to start popping up soon.
It’s worth mentioning that last year, Universal released the earliest house announcement ever in the history of the event. The Orlando theme park teased fans all the way back in July about a possible “The Thing” haunted house. And with rumors that started to swirl back in March about this year’s theme and potential haunted houses, is it safe to say Universal is teasing the event even longer this year? We think so but that’s ok it gives us that much longer to get excited and terrified about what’s to come.
Stay tuned for more details about Halloween Horror Nights 2012 including the rumor that comedy illusionists Penn & Teller will somehow incorporate their dark magic into this year’s event and if the horror really will spread to Islands of Adventure. In the meantime you can always enjoy Universal’s Summer Concert Series, which begins June 9 with Nickelodeon’s “VicTORIous” cast and Rock the Universe on September 7 & 8 with discounted tickets right here on Orlando Fun Tickets.
