New Fantasyland Updates including two Dumbos and Casey Jr
Walt Disney World’s ® Fantasyland expansion is well on its way to completion. Not expected to open until later this year, the expanded area is making great progress with many of its new rides, restaurants and shows. Here’s a quick update on what’s new in Fantasyland:
After months of anticipation, guests were finally given a sneak peek at the second “Flying Dumbo” in Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride in the new Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland. The construction walls were removed earlier this month to reveal what the updated attraction will look like. The second “flying” elephant and the ride’s interactive Big Top queue will officially open to park guests in July. Stay tuned for more details on its opening.
And speaking of Dumbo, guests can expect to see another familiar face from the movie in the Storybook Circus area when the Casey Jr. Splash ‘n’ Soak Station opens. The new splash park will be complete with a colorful crowd of circus animals including monkeys, elephants and giraffes. The animals sit aboard the famous locomotive from Dumbo and squirt water out at guests looking to cool off from the hot summer sun.
Walt Disney Imagineering has also given us some details about the queue area for The Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid attraction. The queue will first start out by winding guests through the remains of an old shipwreck. The details in the underwater area will make you feel like you’re actually under the sea and include faded wood, starfish and algae that grow on the ship and more. As you walk along, you’ll find yourself amongst towering rocks on which the ship met its demise. The path eventually leads into giant caves under Prince Eric’s seaside castle, where the attraction begins.
Fantasyland’s new “Beauty and the Beast” section is also making great progress this month. The lavish “Be Our Guest” restaurant that will give guests the opportunity to dine with the familiar characters and environments inside Beast’s castle has revealed the “Be Our Guest” menu. While the restaurant’s debut is still months away, guests can get a sneak peak at the kinds of dishes the restaurant will be serving up, including carved turkey on a warm baguette with Dijon mayonnaise for lunch and grilled steak sandwich with garlic butter spread thyme-scented pork rack chop with au gratin pasta, rotisserie rock hen with roasted fingerling potatoes for dinner and much more.Stay tuned for more Fantasyland updates and official opening dates.
