Food For Thought Good Eats at the New Fantasyland Expansion
Walt Disney World’s ® new Fantasyland expansion at Magic Kingdom ® has officially announced the Grand Opening on December 6th, 2012 with preview as early as November 19th. There’s a lot to look forward to in the New Fantasyland and they have been making great progress updating rides and opening new attractions and areas to the public in the past several months. The most recent news coming from Disney ® is an addition of a food area that promises to be both fun and delicious.
The new Big Top Souvenirs merchandise location, which is currently being refurbished in the Storybook Circus area of the park, will feature an open kitchen. The kitchen is very similar to Main Street Confectionary, Sweet Spells in Hollywood Studios ® and Disney’s Candy Cauldron in Downtown Disney ® in the fact that guests can watch Disney ® cast members create the items.
There is no word yet on what the kitchen will be called and what exactly will be served there, but if it is anything like the other open kitchens throughout Disney ® guests will be able to indulge in such sweet treats as cotton candy and caramel apples.
The ‘Big Top Souvenirs’ on-stage kitchen isn’t the only new food option coming to the Fantasyland area of the park. Be Our Guest Restaurant in the Beauty and the Beast area will offer guests quick service at lunch and then turn into table service for dinner. The menu is being described as “new twists on French classics” and will include such dishes as a tuna Nicoise salad and Croque Monsieur Sandwich for lunch and pork rack chop with au gratin pasta for dinner. The delicious food is just a part of the excitement of dining at Be Our Guest. Themed after the 1991 animated film “Beauty and the Beast” guests to the French restaurant will be immersed in scenes and rooms from the hit Disney ® film including the forbidden West Wing, Library and Ballroom. Be Our Guest Restaurant is expected to open come December 6th.
The Beauty and the Beast area of the new Fantasyland section will also offer other themed Beauty and the Beast dining options including the counter-service spot Gaston’s Tavern. Just like Be Our Guest Restaurant, Gaston’s Tavern will feature the egotistical character from the movie including a giant bronze statue of him as you walk into the tavern and a huge portrait of him that hangs on the wall of the French pub. Unfortunately we’re not sure what kind of food will be served at this establishment but we hope to hear word soon.
