Aquatica Celebrates One Year of Watery Fun
Unbelievably, one year has gone by since Aquatica opened its high speed water slides, exhilarating wave pools, tranquil beaches, and fun animal habitats. The water park, located across the street from SeaWorld Orlando, celebrated its one year anniversary this past Saturday, and though the park has gotten older, you’d never know it from the amount of fun it offers through countless underwater adventures and awe-inspiring animal exhibits. One of the most fun and exciting water parks in Orlando, Aquatica has 3.3 million gallons worth of water in wild slides, river rapids, wave pools, steep water drops, and interactive playgrounds. But even though quantity is important, it’s the quality of these attractions and the thought put into them that makes them truly incredible. Take the Dolphin Plunge, for example, which takes riders down 250 feet of clear tubes, underwater, through Aquatica’s Commerson’s dolphin habitat. It’s definitely one of the park’s more breathtaking experiences, as it makes guests feel like they’re swimming in the water along with the dolphins. Aquatica also has something for everyone, with slides ranging from the fast and furious Taumata Racer, which speeds riders down a 300-foot slide in and out of tunnels, to the laid-back and relaxed Loggerhead Lane, a lazy river that floats guests past incredible animal habitats – including a 10,000 gallon habitat filled with thousands of exotic fish. There’s even the four-seater raft ride Walhalla Wave for families, and little ones will love Kata’s Kookaburra Cove, a 79,000-gallon water wonderland filled with fountains, rides, and slides. However, even all this watery fun isn’t what makes Aquatica a unique park that’s sure to be successful for years to come. One year ago when the park opened, executive vice president and general manager of the park Dan Brown said, “No one creates animal adventures like SeaWorld, and this exciting twist is one of the many distinctions that makes Aquatica not only new to Orlando, but also new to the world.” That twist still keeps Aquatica on top of the pack, as park visitors are able to enjoy animal encounters with a wide variety of mammals, birds, and marine creatures. On any given day, a park guest might run into a Giant Anteater, a Laughing Kookaburra, a Roseate Spoonbill, and a massive Sulcata Tortoise. The park also features habitats of Commerson’s dolphins, macaws, and African Cichlids. And all these features have gotten more fun since, in preparation for another great year, the park has refreshed itself with new paint and added new umbrellas, new sidewalk misters, new landscaping, new lounge chairs, and new signage that will help children figure out attractions are most appropriate for them. An extra ticket booth and expanded walkways are also being added near the entrance so that guests can come in and start having fun that much sooner. So if you haven’t experienced Aquatica, give the park a belated anniversary present by making it part of your weekend plans. Behind the Scenes at SeaWorld
If you know the layout of places like Walt Disney World without a map and can rattle off the attractions at Universal Studios without missing a beat, then chances are you’ve done your fair share of visiting Orlando theme parks. But what do you do when you feel like you’ve seen everything there is to be seen? At that point, you go behind the scenes at SeaWorld Orlando, where new tours provide one-of-a-kind experiences, wild adventures, and a side of the park we guarantee you’ve never encountered before. An addition to the park that started at the beginning of the year, the new Behind the Scenes Tour gives guests a glimpse at what happens under the water at SeaWorld. The tour is led by a knowledgeable guide, who’ll provide fascinating facts about the park and its commitment to wildlife. On the tour, guests will learn about how SeaWorld’s animal experts care for rescued manatees and sea turtles, they’ll explore one of the hidden polar bear dens in the Wild Arctic, and they’ll separate shark fact from fiction before interacting with a small shark in a private area of Shark Encounter. And that’s not all – the Behind the Scenes tour will take guests into some areas that regular park guests never get to see, such as the special Avian Research Building. There, guest will be able to meet and touch one of the park’s penguin inhabitants. The tour also takes guests on a tram through SeaWorld’s back road, which winds right underneath the massive Kraken. The Behind the Scenes tour is best suited for guests ages 5 and up, and 10% of the admission will be donated to the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund to support research projects around the world. With 90 minutes of SeaWorld fun and animals you wouldn’t see otherwise, it’s definitely a worthwhile variation from the normal activities and attractions available at the park. And if you love animals, you should definitely check out some of the other tours the park has to offer. For example, the Penguin Spotlight Tour is especially fun for those who are passionate about penguins and eager to learn more about these unique and funny birds. A 60-minute walking tour, Penguin Spotlight takes guests behind the scenes of the Penguin Encounter to hear from SeaWorld’s animal experts and learn about how they care for the penguins. Guests will also get to see a puffin up close and interact with some adorable penguins. Similarly, the Dolphin Spotlight Tour is the way to go if you love these happy-go-lucky creatures. Also a 60-minute walking tour, the Dolphin Spotlight takes guests backstage at Whale and Dolphin Stadium to discover what it takes to care for and train the stars of SeaWorld’s Blue Horizons show. Then, guests will get to test their skills as a trainer and get up close with a dolphin. If you’ve seen every attraction at SeaWorld or you simply want to go all out when you visit this unique park, the Behind the Scenes tours are definitely the way to go. The tours all require separate admission to the park, but that’s easy – you can simply score your discount SeaWorld tickets here at OrlandoFunTickets.com. After getting friendly with a shark, a penguin, and a dolphin, you’ll discover one little known truth about Orlando theme parks like SeaWorld and Aquatica – there’s always something new to see.
