The Osborne Family Lights Truly are Out of This World

The tradition of this extraordinary Christmas display began over 20 years ago in Little Rock, Arkansas, when six-year-old Breezy Osborne asked her daddy to put up some Christmas lights. Not being able to say no to his little girl, Jennings Osborne adorned their home that year with a modest 1,000 lights. The display expanded as the years went by and contained 3 million lights by 1993!  The Osborne’s neighbors did not get so caught up in the holiday spirit, however, and they complained about the inconveniences the exhibit caused. Following a law suit, the Arkansas Supreme Court put some restrictions on the Osbornes and eventually shut down the holiday display all together. But there is a happy ending. The folks from Disney contacted Osborne and arranged to acquire his family’s illuminating extravaganza and turned it into a holiday attraction at the Disney MGM Studios back in 1995, and the show is still going strong. The Osbornes also sponsor Christmas light displays in 32 cities across the State of Arkansas. Now there is a generous guy who really loves Christmas!
