Eat Your Way Through Walt Disney World

If you are a hardcore roller coaster rider, chances are that eating at Orlando theme parks for you means light meals that won't come back with a vengeance later. If you’re the hustler kind of theme park-goer, and you like to cram as much fun into your day at the park as you can, chances are that you want easy, refueling meals like pizza and burgers in a memorable atmosphere. And alas, there’s the gourmet vacationer – burgers and pizza are hash for you, and you won’t be satisfied with anything less than the best. Now, what do all these different diners have in common? The answer’s quite simple: they can all eat and be happy at Walt Disney World.

No matter what your needs and tastes are, there’s a restaurant to suit you at Disney, from the international cuisine of Epcot to the kid-friendly fare at Magic Kingdom. And though we won’t deny that Disney cuisine can be on the pricey side, you won’t regret stuffing your face at these eateries.

The Light Diner

Some of the best light fare can be found at Disney cafes, and one of our favorites is the Yak and Yeti Counter Service at Animal Kingdom, where you can have tasty egg rolls or fried rice for just a few bucks. For a little more, you can also have the Mandarin Chicken Salad, which is light and tasty. We also like the Sunshine Seasons at Epcot, which serves up soups, salads, and stir-fried Asian specialties.

Also, a great tip for frequent snackers and vegetarians is to look for fruit stands – each park has at least one where you can find apples, pears, bananas, oranges, and other fruits, all healthy, inexpensive, and not too heavy.

The Fun Seeker

One of the most fun dining experiences at Disney can be found at the Prime Time Diner at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This 50’s style eatery features ample portions of American classics, including fried chicken, burgers, meatloaf, and thick creamy milk shakes. The rowdiest of kids will be entertained by the vintage TV clips, from I Love Lucy to Our Miss Brooks, and the service staff is fun and familiar too – your good ole’ “mom” and “dad,” who won’t neglect to tell you to finish your vegetables.

Hearty appetites will also appreciate the Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom, where a Victorian theme coupled with a colorful character topiary adds whimsical charm to any meal. American favorites abound in the buffet, with dishes like prime rib, rotisserie chicken, Atlantic salmon, and New England clam chowder cooked right before your eyes in the live on-stage kitchen. Plus, you never know whom you might see at this character-frequented buffet.

The Gourmet

And finally, for the more refined palates that visit Walt Disney World, there’s nothing like the Coral Reef Restaurant at Epcot. Located at The Seas with Nemo & Friends, the Coral Reef Restaurant is helmed by Chef Roland Muller, who has created an amazing menu of seafood options for lunch and dinner. Try the Pan-seared Ahi Tuna, a perfectly cooked cut of tuna with parsnip puree, roasted carrots, caramelized cipollini onions, and red wine reduction. The Wild Mushroom Lasagna is tasty and filling too, and we love wrapping things up with the Bailey’s and Jack Daniel Mousse, topped with a ganache and a chocolate cigar.

So if you’ve seen the sights of Walt Disney World but not tasted the tastes, try taking a culinary tour of your favorite Disney theme park. We guarantee you won’t go home hungry! Satiate your Disney cravings today with Walt Disney World tickets from OrlandoFunTickets.com.

The Wave Hits Disneys Contemporary Resort

The Walt Disney World Resort is becoming something of a Mecca for food lovers, and the latest Disney dining experience promises to add to that reputation. The Wave is located on the first floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It opened in late May, and became one of the largest full-service restaurants on Walt Disney World property.

The Wave is an example of “bold cooking inspired by fresh markets,” according to Disney VP of New Concepts, Dieter Hannig. Walt Disney World’s latest restaurant venture at the Contemporary Resort speaks to Disney’s ever-growing melting pot of visitors by adding world flavors to American favorites.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is one of the most recognized icons on Walt Disney World property, and the opening of The Wave only makes this Disney resort more enticing to potential guests. With creative options for both dining and drinking, The Wave is sure to become a favorite with Disney vacationers.

The Wave is in the first floor area of the Contemporary Resort that used to be known as the Food and Fun Center. This section was totally demolished and rebuilt into a serene and inviting new Disney dining space. The Wave is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and their food selections fit right in with the healthy-minded vacationers of the 21st century. You know, the ones that think what you eat on vacation does count.

The breakfast menu includes traditional items like Eggs Benedict and a Ham and Cheese Omelet, but it also includes healthier choices like Multigrain Waffles or French Toast and Acai Juice. Smart choices for lunch and dinner include Today’s Sustainable Fish with edamame stew, Spice-crusted Chicken Salad using local greens and Vegetable Stew served with multigrain rice.

Dessert at The Wave is a freshly unique experience, where you choose between four different selections – Creamy Indulgence, Decadent Flavors, Crispy and Crunchy and Freshly Crafted Sorbets. Each selection is made up of three delicious “mini-favorites” that can also be mixed and matched.

The Wave has an innovative, cutting-edge wine program that refrains from serving California wines, which are available at the California Grill up on the 15th Floor, and only serves wine with screw caps. Using screw caps is the latest “revolution in wine packaging,” according to Disney wine experts.

With its intimate setting – especially at night when the lights are turned down – and its relaxing atmosphere, The Wave at the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World may be the perfect place for a casual and fulfilling meal during your Disney vacation. And with its great food and unique wine program, you should definitely include The Wave on your Walt Disney World vacation to do list.

Decadent Disney Dining for Valentines Day

The Walt Disney World Resort stands out as one of the romance capitals of the vacation world and the options for delicious dining for two abound across the Disney Resort. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, there is no better place to celebrate your love than at one of Disney’s romantic dinner hideaways. And for all of your Orlando Valentine Vacation amusement, OrlandoFunTickets.com has the discount Disney tickets you need to make it memorable.

Your love will soar sky high as you perch atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort at the California Grill, one of Disney’s “Signature Dining” experiences. Inspired by the romance of the country’s Pacific Coast, this eatery offers dozens of delectable delights like sushi, brick-oven flat breads, oak-fired pork tenderloin and butterscotch crème brûlée, just to name a few. An award-winning selection of California wines enhances the delicious dinner choices.

You will already be delirious from the fine food and drink, but that’s not all the California Grill has to offer. You and your special someone will fall in love all over again as you soak in the birds-eye view of the Magic Kingdom Park. (And if you time it right, Magic Kingdom fireworks viewed from this vantage point are simply the best.)

A short boat ride from the Contemporary brings you to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge for another Disney Signature Dining opportunity. Artist Point will be especially apropos for anyone desiring a bit of rustic romance. Enjoy specialties from the Pacific Northwest like Cedar Plank Salmon and Grilled Buffalo (just go ahead and try it), all while discovering the “spirit and romance of the American Frontier.”

If you prefer a New England-style dinner romance, then ship out to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and dine at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. Here you will set sail on a dining adventure featuring “grain-fed beef prepared on an oak-fired grill in an open kitchen.” The nautical atmosphere of wood, brass and leather will leave you relaxed…and full.

The Walt Disney World Resort is not just for kids, and it has so much more to offer than the dynamic theme parks. For an Orlando vacation that includes some romance, dining at Disney will really light your fire. So when you are looking for cheap Disney tickets, look no further than OrlandoFunTickets.com. Then treat the love of your life to a romantic Valentine’s dinner at one of these superb Walt Disney World Resort restaurants.

Disneys Animal Kingdom Park Yak and Yeti Restaurant

There is a new first of its kind attraction at Disneys Animal Kingdom Theme Park one that actually doesnt involve live animals or a roller coaster but is creating quite a buzz and level of excitement around the Walt Disney World Resort. But if it doesn’t produce thrills, then what exactly is it? The Yak & Yeti Restaurant, the first full-service restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme Park! This Pan-Asian-inspired restaurant located in (where else?) Asia in the village of Anandapur and next to the ride’s biggest attraction, Expedition Everest, houses both a 250-seat indoor full-service restaurant with a 350-seat outdoor pavilion for patrons who would prefer the adjacent quick-service dining option.

The dishes at the Yak & Yeti Restaurant are inspired by Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese and Indian cuisines, while the quick service restaurant mainly offers Chinese fare. But, no matter how delectable the dishes are, the atmosphere is second to none inside of the full-service establishment. Everyone knows that Disney goes above and beyond create authentic attractions at all of their theme parks, and the Yak & Yeti Restaurant is no different. Authentic souvenirs and artifacts direct from Southeast Asia adorn the walls and establish the mood inside the restaurant, and the gift shop even gets into the act, offering such unique things as teapots and sushi items.

The menu items range in price from around $5-$13 for appetizers (options include wok-fried green beans, steamed mussels and pork egg rolls), $15-$23 for entrees (tempura shrimp, mahi mahi and duck with Anandapur glaze are selections) and $6-$8 for dessert selections (try the fried wontons or chocolate brownie sundae). Counter service selections range from around $3 for a side to $11 for the most expensive entrée. You won’t find a huge range of items on the menu, as this establishment is opting for quality over quantity. Lunch is served daily from 10 a.m. until 3:45 p.m., and dinner starts at 4 p.m. until the park closes. The Yak & Yeti Restaurant is part of the 2008 Magic Your Way Disney Dining Plan, and while the restaurant at first only served walk-up guests, they started taking reservations for guests beginning on January 4, 2008 (these can be made by calling 407-WDW-DINE).
To experience the Yak & Yeti Restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and all of the other wonderful attractions at all four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, you have to have theme park tickets to get inside. If you are looking for an easy and inexpensive way to get tickets, look no further!
