Experience Holidays Around the World at Epcot
Close your eyes and imagine being able to travel around the world and experience how different cultures and countries celebrate the holidays…Now, open your eyes, and head over to Disney’s Epcot to see everything you imagined and more! From November 28th through December 30th, one of Walt Disney World’s most festive and anticipated annual events, Holidays Around the World, comes to Epcot for a fantastic universal celebration that doesn’t even require an airplane. Once you cross the luminous light bridge adorning the breezeway to World Showcase Plaza, guests will see a magnificent holiday tree along with exquisite holiday decor and dazzling lights. Be sure to stick around the Tree Stage to catch the Lights of Winter, a synchronized light show set to a festive holiday score. Then, go around to each Pavilion (to refresh your memory, Epcot includes Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, The American Adventure, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom, and Canada) to enjoy unique holiday traditions, international culinary delights of the season, one-of-a-kind holiday gifts, and incredible storytelling. From France’s Pere Noel to Italy’s LaBefana and the USA’s Santa Claus, you’ll see beloved international holiday figures spreading messages of goodwill. Don’t miss the highlight of the celebration, the nightly Candlelight Processional. In this heartfelt holiday tradition, a mass choir and 50-piece live orchestra showcase the reason for the season. Located at the America Gardens Theater, the Processional features a different celebrity narrating the Christmas story each evening. The narrators scheduled to perform include John O’Hurley, Neil Patrick Harris, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Virginia Madsen, Marlee Matlin, Monique Coleman, Chita Rivera, Abigail Breslin, Steven Curtis Chapman, Edward James Olmos, Angela Bassett, and Courtney Vance. We highly recommend pairing this heart-warming holiday show with a Candlelight Dinner Package, which provides dining at a select Epcot restaurant and reserved general seating for the Candlelight Processional. Since the show’s seating is on a first come, first serve basis, people begin waiting in line for 45 minutes before show time (and if you’re waiting for the 2nd or 3rd show of the night, this means you’ll hear the music from the show before). For this reason, it’s worth reserving the Candlelight Dinner Package for the reserved Processional seating alone. If you think the Candlelight Processional sounds amazing, wait until you see the finale of the evening, the IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth nighttime spectacular. At 9:30 every night, the World Showcase Promenade comes alive with music, lights, water fountains, and an incredible pyrotechnics show. And every evening during the Holidays Around the World celebration, IllumiNations will feature a unique holiday finale with the song “Let There Be Peace On Earth” and the warm voice of Walter Cronkite. Since Holidays Around the World is an international celebration, it’s a festive and educational attraction that the whole family can enjoy. And since Kwanzaa and Hanukkah observances are also featured, every family can enjoy it, too. Don’t miss out on this incredible holiday treat that will warm your spirit and transport it around the world. Universal's Halloween Horror Nights 18 - biggest and best yet!
Universals Halloween Horror Nights 2008 sure is a sight to be seen! It is an experience unlike any other! Featuring eight all new haunted mazes, six all-new scarezones, and three live shows, the 18th year of Halloween Horror Nights is the biggest and best yet for Universal Orlando. “Reflections of Fear” featuring the one and only Bloody Mary is the theme for this year’s event. Universal takes all aspects of your innermost, darkest fears and brings them to life. Whether you had a childhood fear of the infamous Bloody Mary, are afraid of the dark, or have a fear of creepy crawly creatures, Halloween Horror Nights will hit home with at least one of your phobias. Each haunted maze and scarezone is uniquely themed and very detailed, pertaining somehow to fears, myths, and urban legends. My favorite maze was “Scary Tales, Once Upon a Nightmare." In this haunted maze, you enter through the front doors of a quiet little cottage only to discover that the Evil Queen has taken over and is rewriting all of the childhood stories we are all familiar with. Only, she is rewriting them with a twist - an evil bloody twist. Here we catch a glimpse of Cinderella chained and shackled, missing the feet that once filled those famous glass slippers. We see poor Snow White’s corpse with her heart ripped out. We journey down the rabbit hole, only to discover Alice ripping the poor white rabbit to shreds. A little further down, we suddenly aren’t in Kansas anymore. Helpless Dorothy is now tied to the Scarecrow’s post. Let’s just say he isn’t looking for a brain anymore. Leading up to Scary Tales is one of the six scarezones at this year’s event. “Fractured Tales” sets the perfect tone just before entering the haunted maze. Through this scarezone, you will be re-introduced to some of your favorite story book characters such as Little Red Riding Hood, who has a pleasant little surprise in her basket, The Frog Prince, looking extra large and extra creepy, Little Miss Muffet being attacked by a huge spider, This Little Piggy looking for someone else to take to the market, Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater and his late wife – still stuffed in the pumpkin, and a handful of other amazingly detailed characters. Scary Tales is just one of the eight haunted mazes at this year’s Halloween Horror Night’s event. Be sure to head over to Universal Orlando on one of the select nights this month to enjoy a truly terrifying evening reflecting your fears. Enter If You Dare
By now, we have all seen the eerie and mysterious images of Bloody Mary on TV, pamphlets, websites, billboards, and MORE for Universal Studios Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 18. But, the scary images just have people wondering just what to expect from Universal this year when it comes to the haunted houses. The myth and legend of Bloody Mary is one that everyone grew up with. You might have even tried saying the words Bloody Mary three times in front of a mirror. The majority of us chickened out by the second saying of the name, worried as to what would happen. But now, you are invited behind the mirror to a world of tales, myths, nightmares, urban legends, and fears. Universal Studios will dispel all of the myths, as your darkest nightmares come true behind the mirror. The main house of the event will be “Reflections of Fear,” where Bloody Mary awaits anyone daring enough to call out her name. Dr. Mary Agana believes that in order to conquer your fears you must be forced to constantly come in contact with the cause of fear, so that you become numb to the idea of fearing it. Well, Mary’s biggest fear is death, so she wants you to be her constant. You can run, but you can’t hide from the reflection and existence of Bloody Mary. At Halloween Horror Nights 18, fairy tales, legends, and YOU don’t live happily ever after. Enter “Scary Tales: Once Upon a Nightmare” where you will see your beloved fairy tale characters like you’ve never seen them before. There is no escaping this rabbit hole…sorry Alice. At “The Hallow” you can experience the myth behind Halloween. It is said that on every Halloween ghosts, goblins, and witches all come out to play in the darkest parts of forests. Is this true? You can only find out one way…enter if you dare as the souls of the Underworld take over this house! Legends of the unknown have always scared us. Now, travel into the unknown with “Creatures!” and “Interstellar Terror.” At “Creatures!” trek out to the backwoods of Butchered Buck. The locals have disappeared one by one, as the entire town has been massacred. Find out what might be causing these bloody disappearing acts. “Interstellar Terror” puts you in a scare zone that is unknown to this solar system. The NSO Columbus 1492 was the first manmade spacecraft to leave this solar system. Having disappeared for numerous years, it has finally reappeared but with no crew onboard. You are sent to investigate what is on-board that caused their disappearance. Nightmares come to life this year with the remaining houses. “Dead Exposure” allows you to shadow the last moments of photographer Charlie McPherson as he photographs his town that has become flooded with flesh-eating zombies. Enter “Doomsday” where you can experience the Universal movie for yourself and run from the reaper virus infested victims. The terrifying tale of “The Body Collectors” comes to life in the final house. The body collectors are always looking for new specimens for their morbid museum. No matter which house you enter, let’s be honest, you are sure to be scared! This Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios immerses you in fear. So, step behind the mirror and see what Bloody Mary has in store for you… Labels: bloody mary, halloween horror nights, Holidays in Oralndo
