Go On an Airboat Adventure with Captain Jim

There are plenty of ways to experience the natural beauty of Central Florida. Once you have done the Orlando theme parks there are still things the area has to offer than many people overlook. Thanks to the Florida Everglades there are plenty of ways to enjoy the Florida outdoors. You can go hiking, fishing, kayaking, boating or even camping—the choice is up to you. But a great way to really get out into the Florida wild is via airboat. When you ride an airboat you get to experience a lovely breeze and a gentle journey over the waters of the Everglades as the airboat glides past the beautiful scenery nature provides.

Captain Jim Passmore has been offering guided airboat tours to visitors of the Central Florida area like no other. This friendly operation is family owned and treats every guest like a close friend. Consider yourself in safe hands when you board one of Captain Jim’s airboats. Each vehicle is licensed, insured and approved by the Coast Guard to ensure the safety of the occupants—meaning you, the guest. Water is provided by Captain Jim’s in case you get thirsty during the one hour adventures and life jackets are given to those that may need it. Outdoor adventures always require two things in Florida: sunscreen and bugspray. Captain Jim doesn’t give those out, so you have to bring your own, and if you get chilly bring a light jacket for the breezy ride.

There are three different tour options from Captain Jim, all of them offering various routes through the Everglades that change depending on water levels and animal conditions to give you the best experience and awesome camera opportunities. There’s no telling what kind of wildlife you’ll find on these tours. You can guarantee you will be seeing Florida’s unofficial mascot, the alligator, along with eagles, wild pigs, horses, marsh cows, otters, deer, bobcats and coyotes. You can take a tour during the day if you you want to relax at night, explore the beautiful Florida sunset on a sunset tour or go lights out and explore the Everglades on Captain Jim’s airboat at night with only headlamps to guide your way. Captain Jim’s Orlando Airboat Rides are great fun for anyone at any age.

Rip Ride iPhone App

It seems that Orlando theme parks are joining in on the iPhone app craze. There are plenty of jokes going around on the internet which interject the phrase “There’s an app for that” as the Apple commercial loves to say. But now we can say the same about the newest ride at Universal Studios Orlando Resort, the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit! Yes coaster enthusiasts, there’s an app for that. The Pocket Rockit app, just 99 cents at the iTunes app store, is your personal sidekick to this great ride at Universal Studios.

The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is a rock and roll-themed rollercoaster that features all new thrill ride technology and lets you choose a song that will serve as the soundtrack. They have everything from hip hop to disco. The five available genres each have six songs, making a total of 30 songs in the setlist. However, once people began to ride the new coaster it was soon discovered there were more than 30 songs. Somehow, someone tinkering around with the system discovered there were (as of now) 999 song possibilities on the Rockit. The internet blogs went wild posting lists and techniques on how to select the hidden songs which feature everything from Kermit the Frog to U2 and Megadeth.

The purpose of the Pocket Rockit app is to archive and confirm those song choices. With live update technology, you will be able to upload any songs you discover to the app’s list. On the other hand you can also see what other people with the app have uploaded and confirm or deny the accuracy of their song numbers. The Pocket Rockit has all of the confirmed songs, both the 30 original releases and any other songs that people have uploaded. All of the song listings can be organized by band or song like on your iPod’s regular system in case you want to ride the Rockit multiple times and want to experience a different song each time. The Pocket Rockit is constantly receiving updates, so if you’re an iPhone owner and want to go to Universal Studios soon, definitely download this beforehand.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is Open!

After months of suspicion and rumor over Universal Studios Orlando newest thrill ride, the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit finally opened for guests this week. Great reviews have been coming in from riders who got to test the Rockit before it finally opened up. “More thrilling than Manta” and “Better than the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster” have been a few of the phrases thrown around about this new ride, so you have to check it out!

The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is located in Production Central, but it’s hard to miss. You will instantly see the 17 story high lift as soon as you enter the park. At night, with its “concert lights” on, you can see it before you even enter Universal Studios Orlando. The Rockit was made to give riders a concert-like atmosphere and experience. It’s a ride with many “firsts” for the Universal Orlando franchise. Featuring a series of thrilling turns, corkscrews and even a loop inspired by the treble clef, this ride will have you holding on tight!

Our favorite aspect is the fact that you will get to select a song to be the soundtrack to your thrill ride experience. Choose from a list of 30 songs featuring everyone from Evanescence to MC Hammer. The music is apparently timed to coincide with the various twists and turns this incredible ride will put you through at speeds of over 65 mph. “Sabotage” by the Beastie Boys seems to be a popular choice with riders of the Rockit. This coaster takes the usual souvenir photo a bit further by filming your entire ride experience and editing it into your very own music video you can purchase at the end of your Rip Ride Rockit journey.

You have to be 51” and taller to ride the Rockit and it is not recommended for people with health conditions. Make sure you read the restrictions posted outside of every thrill ride for your own safety. But once you’re in the clear get ready for the ride of your life. This is one ride you can’t miss and it’s opening up just in time for the holiday season. Halloween Horror Nights is right around the corner! Imagine zooming through the Rockit while the rest of the park is converted into a haunted land. It’s going to be great for everyone visiting the Orlando theme parks this season!

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in 2010

Since the plans for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Islands of Adventure were announced in May of 2007, fans have been wracking their brains trying to figure out exactly what a Harry Potter attraction would be like and what it could possibly include. Two years later Universal execs are finally releasing details to the public on what The Wizarding World of Harry Potter would entail and what it would mean for certain sections of the park.

Names for shops, restaurants and possible rides were discovered thanks to the clever investigative skills of a Potter fanatic searching through public trademark records. The 20 acre theme park will be an island of its own at Islands of Adventure and it will incorporate part of the “Lost Continent” section of the theme park. A few of the rides presently at Islands of Adventure, like Dueling Dragons and the Flying Unicorn, are rumored to be “re-themed” and incorporated into the Harry Potter world. Although no official statement on this theory has been released, pictures of construction and ride closures are pretty much proving them to be true. But for those of you wanting to know the real deal on The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, OrlandoFunTickets.com has the inside scoop!

Ride wise, there are three registered names. “Flight of the Hippogriff” will probably be the children’s ride aspect of the Harry Potter island taking over the Flying Unicorn’s spot. “Dragon Challenge” will be the re-themed Dueling Dragons coaster, which has been closed for “renovation” for some time now. The park’s “dark ride” will be known as “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” and will probably be located in what is to be the beautiful centerpiece of the new island: Hogwart’s Castle.

There will also be a theme area made to look like Hogsmeade Village and a number of shops and restaurants. Harry Potter fans can expect to dine and drink at Three Broomsticks, Magic Neep and Butterbeer, which will all have Potter-themed food and drink. Universal plans to have an assortment of retail stores that will cash in on the Potter craze. Those stores will be called: Zonko’s, Owl Post, Ollivanders, Honeydukes and Dervish and Bangles. No official word yet on what will be sold, but you can count on official movie merchandise and wizardry objects of your own.

As more details are released OrlandoFunTickets.com will be bringing you the news on The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The island is expected to open in 2010—except a huge opening party for that one!

Disney Gearing up for The Princess and The Frog

The holiday movie season is fast approaching and both Walt Disney fans and the news media are buzzing about The Princess and The Frog. Not only does this movie mark Disney’s return to hand-drawn 2D animation, but it heralds the arrival of Disney’s first black princess, Princess Tiana. Hints of merchandise have already come out including pictures of the adorable Princess Tiana doll and promotional “fortune cards” that go with the voodoo and magic theme incorporated in the New Orleans-based story.

The Princess and the Frog brings together the winning creative team that brought us classics like Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. With gorgeous animation and a variety of jazz-infused songs that are sure to get stuck in your head, Disney is hoping the magic of 2D animation returns with the re-telling of this classic fairytale. But until the movie’s holiday release, both Walt Disney World and Disneyland are gearing up for a series of promotional events to let everyone know Disney is ready for a new princess—and they want you to be too!

One of the first things the Disney company did was formally introduce the Princess Tiana cast member to the press. While she is voiced by Anika Noni Rose, a Tiana cast member will now appear at both Disney parks in California and Florida, greeting fans of all ages and races in her elegant princess dress and crown. Herown “Prince Charming” is the frog-turned-human Prince Naveen, who will also be making appearances and signing autographs for fans of the movie starting this fall.

Tiana will officially be introduced into the princess merchandise lineup in early 2010 after the movie’s release, and then we will see her next to Aurora, Jasmine, Cinderella and all of the other princesses in Disney’s products. As for events at the Disney theme parks, fans can expect to see Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee for the 2009 holiday season. This promotional show will debut at Disney World on October 26, 2009 and will run through January 3, 2010.

Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee will be a “Mardi Gras-style” musical show that utilizes the gorgeous Liberty Belle show boat in Frontierland next to the Haunted Mansion attraction. The show begins with a procession of jazz musicians heading over to the Liberty Belle as the crowds follow along to the docks. Once there, a small group of pre-selected guests will be selected to board the Liberty Belle with characters from the movie including Tiana and Naveen as the boat then takes off performing songs from the feature’s soundtrack along the river.

With all of these great promotional events going on at the Disney theme parks, The Princess and The Frog is going to be a hit this holiday season. Princess Tiana’s reign has only just begun!

Tequila Time at EPCOT

In the Walt Disney World Resort, EPCOT is famous with older crowds for being one of the few parks where alcohol is easier to access. It is easy to do a “drinking tour” across the World Showcase Pavillion as you sample beer from Germany, wine from France and sake from Japan. Now with La Cava del Tequila in the Mexican pavilion, tequila lovers will get to enjoy a few shots of the desert drink as well.

Opening up just in time for the 2009 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, La Cava del Tequila, located inside the Mexican pavilion, will be offering educational seminars about tequila and the process behind making the alcohol favorite. La Cava del Tequila will also have a Tequila Master on hand to answer any questions visitors may have. If you need some food to accompany your drinks, the lounge serves appetizers like ceviche and tostadas. This lounge holds around 46 people and also serves up premium margaritas. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the beautiful Mexico pavilion as you enjoy some of the finest tequila you will ever taste—La Cava del Tequila has 70 varieties!

If you’re really hungry you can leave the “pyramid” and head out to the Cantina de San Angel where you will find heavier fare like burritos and tacos. Mexican beer is also available and they make fabulous margaritas! If you happen to make it to the 14th annual food event at the EPCOT theme park, this new tequila bar isn’t the only treat you will get to experience.

This 45 day festival will feature cuisine from all over the world. The park has set up 25 International Marketplaces to fulfill every culinary wish you would like to experience. Every week the festival offers new entertainment and tasting events, so make sure you pick up a schedule when entering the theme park. Other events include book signings, meet and greets with authors and other “food celebrities” and a variety of lectures and cooking demonstrations. There is also the great “Eat to the Beat” series of concerts where music groups like En Vogue, Boyz II Men, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will be stopping by to perform their best songs and turn EPCOT into a giant festival. So make sure to stop by the brand new La Cava Del Tequila during the Food and Wine festival or the next time you head over to the Disney theme park.

New Details on the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit

It is tough to wait for the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit to debut at Universal Studios, except when it seems like the progress on the ride is actually going backwards and not forwards - they recently dismantled part of the track to install some new systems, for example. However, we’ve got some new details on the HRRR, as we like to call it, to tide you over until July 4, which is when the ride is expected to debut.

For the first time ever, pictures of the coaster’s vehicle have been released, in addition to information about how the ride’s technological elements come together. To refresh your memory, the Rockit will be a high-tech, high-speed combination of first-ever maneuvers, hit music, and specially created take-home videos starring each rider.

“This is where high-speed coaster meets outdoor mega-concert meets user-generated content – all shot on production-quality video,” said Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative. “No one has ever created such a sophisticated ride experience. And no one has ever used technology the way we have to pull it all together.”

Most of that technology is evident on the Rockit’s vehicle, which features a revolutionary new restraint system, industrial-grade touchpads, all-weather speakers, and a network of cameras designed to capture every second of the HRRR’s high-speed ride.

The fun begins when guests slide into the bucket seat of the Rockit’s X-Car, which features stadium-style seating so that everyone has an unobstructed view of the drops and turns ahead. Unlike many other coasters, there’s no over-head/pull-down restraint system. Rather, riders pull across a lap bar allowing for unprecedented freedom of movement and thrills.

Once guests are snug and secure, they’ll proceed to pick out their ride soundtrack on the car’s personal touchpad, which is mounted on the lap bar. Military-grade durable, waterproof, and connected to wireless servers, the touchpads allow guests to pick from songs representing five genres of music. And thanks to Polk Audio marine-grade stereo speakers, guests will be able to hear their musical choice at 90 decibels while never hearing the songs playing for other riders.

While coaster junkies rock out and scream to the tune of their favorite musical styles, their entire journey will be captured by 14 cameras – six on board each car and eight along the track. Smile real big, because these cameras are designed to provide production-quality footage under intense conditions. After the ride, each guest video is transmitted from the ride vehicle to a viewing kiosk, where guests can purchase a specially edited take-home version to share with family and friends.

From the ground, the HRRR is also ultra-cool; 36 different LED color-changing lights make it an ever-changing show for onlookers. And boarding the coaster is a snap, too; the Rockit is the only coaster in the country that keeps guests moving through the queue on a conveyer belt, ensuring that the lines keep flowing and the wait is never longer than it needs to be.

With all these intricate details and fun, high-tech elements, the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit just might give SeaWorld’s Manta a run for its money! Find out for yourself whether or not it stands up to all the hype when the ride opens this summer; get your Universal Studios tickets on OrlandoFunTickets.com to be ready for your first ride on the Rockit.

Catch a Preview of the Flying Ray at SeaWorld

Only one roller coaster in Orlando allows you to spin, glide, skim, and fly like a manta ray - face down! And that is Manta, the sick (we mean that in a good way) new attraction at SeaWorld Orlando. Though the official opening of the coaster is May 22, Manta has been open in sneak preview form all week to riders, and the reviews are in - Manta is one of the most exciting, unique, and fun experiences to come to Orlando in a long time.

Though not all the sea life is in place and final tweaks still have yet to be made to the ride before it’s officially unveiled at the end of the month, guests who have ridden Manta so far say it’s an intense but fun experience. From the ground, the ride looks smooth and tame, even, but riding the ray is a completely different experience.

Upon first getting onto the ride, everything seems normal - at first. Riders sit down in the vehicle normally (four across) and get strapped in snugly across the chest and legs. But as the ride begins its machinations, the entire vehicle swings forward, placing riders at a horizontal, face-down position. But still, so far so good as the ride gets off to a slow climb.

At that point, riders will have a chance to enjoy a unique perspective of Orlando - face down, with no obstructions in the way. It’s the kind of moment where you can say, “Hey, I can see my house from here,” and it’s actually quite nice until the ride jolts into high gear - and then, we’ll just say that the ‘slow’ part of the ride is definitely over.

From the front row, Manta can be a genuinely scary experience, since no other vehicle is in front, making the whole face-down aspect even more thrilling. But from the back rows, riders report that Manta is genuinely intense and almost jarring, with G forces being felt much more significantly than on the other rows. The consensus is that the back rows are best reserved for the hardcore roller coaster rider, while those looking for a less rocky thrill will be happy with the front row – if they can handle the more psychologically scary view! No matter what row you’re in though, you’ll definitely feel like you’re flying like a manta while riding the coaster.

Meanwhile, the experience of waiting to ride Manta is almost as entertaining as the ride itself – the queue area has been beautifully designed with waterfalls and several aquariums filled with tropical fish, sea dragons, and manta rays. Guests will wait comfortably inside the mostly covered and climate controlled area while they watch rays soaring mesmerizingly overhead. In these early weeks, all the tanks’ inhabitants haven’t yet been added – but keep an eye out for the home-grown coral, the giant 12-pound pacific octopus, who can reportedly put together puzzles, and plenty of weedy and leafy sea dragons.

For those who don’t think they can handle Manta’s exhilarating flight, the attraction also offers a separate aquarium especially for non-riders. So if you’re traveling with a group of friends slightly braver than you, you won’t be bored while you wait for them to get off the ride.

If you can’t wait until May 22 to experience Manta, head on down to SeaWorld and join the others who decided they couldn’t wait either – just get ready to wait on line, since this is one thrill that’s already very popular. Check out discount SeaWorld tickets on OrlandoFunTickets.com to begin your Manta flight.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit to Open in Early Summer

So there is good news and bad news - the bad news is that the opening of the new roller coaster at Universal Studios, the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, has been delayed. The good news, and perhaps it’s a purposeful distraction on the park’s part from the bad news, is that Universal has also released specific details on what riders on the Rip Ride Rockit can expect.

As opposed to its originally announced opening date of “spring 2009,” the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit (HRRR) will now open in “late spring/early summer,” according to Universal. It’s still a rather vague date, but most are interpreting the date change as proof that the rollercoaster will now open a good deal of time after SeaWorld Orlando’s Manta opens on May 22, meaning that June is likely the earliest the ride would open.

“Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is the most sophisticated roller coaster we’ve ever created, so we’re working to make sure it’s going to be an amazing experience for our guests,” Universal spokesman Tom Schroder said. “We're going to open it when we believe it’s absolutely ready.”

On the bright side though, roller coaster enthusiasts now have more reasons to look forward to the opening of HRRR as Universal has now revealed never-before-released details on the ride’s unbelievable maneuvers.

In addition to its high-tech audio and visual components, the HRRR will be the tallest, largest, and fastest X-CAR style roller coaster. What does X-CAR mean, you ask? It’s essentially a type of roller coaster vehicle that is more maneuverable than other kinds of vehicles and uses innovative restraints that are less restrictive, more open, and ultimately, more exciting. This kind of design also allows for more kinds of maneuvers that other roller coasters are incapable of performing.

Some of those breathtaking maneuvers on Rockit include a vertical lift that shoots riders at a 90-degree angle toward the sky at 11 feet-per-second. Once the coaster has scaled 167 feet to the top in just 16.5 seconds, riders will be at the highest point of any coaster in Orlando.

Afterwards, riders descend from the vertical lift at 65 mph and ascent into the Double Take, a first-ever maneuver and the world’s largest non-inverted loop at 136 feet tall and 103 feet in diameter. The coaster car zooms along the inside of the track until it reaches the top, where it twists to the outside of the track and rides over the top of the loop, then twisting back inside the loop for its descent.

Other first-ever maneuvers include the Treble Clef, where the steel track bends into a treble clef musical symbol. First sketched out on a paper napkin, this never-before-done coaster move even bursts through a building façade in the New York area of the park. There’s also the Jump Cut, a negative-gravity maneuver that defies tradition by spiraling instead of going straight up and down.

The RRR also features the Crowd Surfer, a 95-degree angle maneuver that flies the car over a crowd on the loading platform; Drop Tuning, a drop into an underground chasm; and the final maneuver, Plot Twist – an inclined loop with a 150-degree banking turn and a complete 360-degree turn.

And let’s not forget that this entire adrenaline-packed journey is accompanied by a musical soundtrack of the rider’s choosing, making it a really rockin’ experience – no pun intended.

Start planning your trip for the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit’s debut by checking out Universal Studios tickets from OrlandoFunTickets.com. And stay tuned to our blog for more info on one of the city’s newest and most exciting roller coasters.

American Idol Experience Tips from the Pros

Sure, it is easy to easy to sit in front of the TV and vote (or boo) for the performers on stage during American Idol. But actually performing in front of a live audience is no picnic, and that’s a challenge Walt Disney World guests can experience for themselves at the American Idol Experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Though it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a lot of fun, performing on stage can be nerve-wracking, especially when there’s a Dream Ticket on the line. So, Disney rounded up some American Idol experts at the premiere of the American Idol Experience and asked them to give their best tips for a great Idol performance.

Ace Young summed up his winning formula. “You pick a song that you love, that you enjoy, that you can’t forget the lyrics to, and you’re good to go,” said the season 5 finalist.

“Perform in front of a mirror – it can help you out a lot to see what you look like before you let everyone else see what you look like,” offered Bucky Covington, season 5 finalist.

When it comes to nerves, the finalists agree it’s important not to let them wreak havoc on your performance. A few of them offered some suggestions for keeping stage fright under control.

“Make sure you take deep breaths, because when you get nervous you never know what’s gonna happen,” said Kimberly Locke, season 2 finalist.

“I think the trick is you have to use the nerves,” said Mandisa, season 5 finalist. “You just kind of channel it into adrenaline. You get out there, and especially if you’re doing an upbeat song, nerves can actually work in your favor.”

And one genuine Idol expert, judge Paula Abdul, emphasized the importance of being unique.

“Find your own unique sound – don’t be a sound-alike – no karaoke, we’ve got every Mariah, we’ve got Whitney, we’ve got Christina. We need original people,” said Abdul.

Fantasia Barrino agreed, but said having fun and relaxing was also key.

“My tip is to be yourself and to have fun. You’re only human, and nobody’s perfect. Be yourself. And the gift that you have is something that God has given you, and everybody wants to hear it, so share it!” said the winner of Idol season 3.

“If you love to sing, and there’s certain songs – whatever, just get out there and do what you love, and show everyone how much you love it. That’ll make everything about 30 times better, it’ll be great,” Carrie Underwood, season 4 winner, added.

Season 7 winner David Cook echoed the sentiments of the winners before him. “It’s real easy to get caught up in the competition aspect of it but if you can kind of step back and realize you’re there to enjoy yourself, you’ll usually perform better that way.”

But in the end, getting the audiences’ votes and the golden ticket often comes down to one thing, eloquently phrased by a season 7 finalist.

“Sing real good,” said Jason Castro with a grin.

Those who sing the best will earn the coveted Dream Ticket, which provides a front-of-the-line pass at a regional American Idol audition. Anyone ages 14 and up can participate in the American Idol Experience, which starts with an open audition in front of a Hollywood Studios casting director early in the day. Those with the most star potential will get to perform in one of seven preliminary shows, with the chance of performing in a talent-packed finale at night.

To try out your talent and test the Idols’ advice, get your Walt Disney World tickets today at OrlandoFunTickets.com.

Preview of Disney's American Idol Experience

As the American Idol Experience gets ready for its official launch on February 14 at Walt Disney World, the new attraction that simulates all aspects of the beloved reality show is currently in preview form at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And while the attraction is being fine-tuned, we at OrlandoFunTickets.com were able to check out the fun in a special sneak preview.

If you’re unfamiliar with the American Idol Experience, it’s a new attraction developed by Disney Imagineers in conjunction with the producers of the hit TV show American Idol. Perfectly in cue with Hollywood Studios, the Experience immerses guests in the authentic feel of a live Idol performance and results show.

Like the FOX show, The American Idol Experience takes everyday people visiting the park and gives them a chance at being a star through daily auditions. If Disney decides a guest has that special “star quality,” he or she goes on to perform at one of seven preliminary shows that day.

We were on hand for one of those shows in the park’s ABC Theater, which has been beautifully redesigned to look just like the American Idol stage, twirling neon signs and all. TV screens on the left and right provide close-ups of the happenings in the theater, a large screen at center provides unique footage during the show, and another screen behind the audience provides lyrics to the performers.

As the show begins, you’ll feel like you’re really on set for the taping of a live show; a friendly, energetic performer comes out at first to warm up the crowd and provide voting instructions. Meanwhile, camera operators weave seamlessly through the theater capturing different angles of the show. And, as things kicks off, three judges and a host (sorry ladies, it’s not Ryan Seacrest) come out to make the Experience complete.

The best part of the American Idol Experience and what makes it different from any other Disney attraction is the amount of guest involvement. In the Experience, Disney guests really are the star of the show; a fun or especially talented performer can capture the crowd and create Disney magic on stage. Similarly, the audience is heavily involved in all aspects of the show, and their enthusiasm (or lack of it) can make or break the Experience.

Overall, the American Idol Experience is cute, fun, and possesses nearly all the qualities of the TV show. Disney’s famous attention to detail is definitely present; for example, the judges table has three Coca Cola cups on it, just like in the show. And though the judges might not be as entertaining as Randy, Paula, and Simon, the involvement of some famous American Idols in the show mostly makes up for the trio’s absence.

If you plan to vie for stardom at the American Idol Experience, head to the park early and be ready to sing a 30-90 second snippet of a song. If Disney staff decides you have what it takes, you’ll audition again in front of a casting director. And if you make it past that, you’ll be taken to hair and makeup and receive a one-on-one session with a vocal coach before hitting the stage for a preliminary show. To audition, you must be age 14 or older. The performers with the most votes in each preliminary all go on to compete in the final performance of the day at 7 pm; the winner of that performance will receive the coveted Dream Ticket, which provides a skip in line and a guaranteed audition at an actual American Idol stadium audition (an American Idol audition FastPass; if you will).

To check out the American Idol Experience and be part of someone’s journey to stardom (or start your own!), don’t miss the attraction’s debut on February 14. Start preparing for your close-up now by getting your Walt Disney World tickets at OrlandoFunTickets.com.

Is Universal Orlando Getting Their Own Harry Potter Mini-Film?

A London newspaper announced last weekend that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universals Islands of Adventure may be getting a unique “Harry Potter” mini-movie of their own. Although our friends at the Universal Orlando Resort have not given any official word, it would seem that there is a good possibility that J.K. Rowling herself wrote something completely new that will be used exclusively at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which is scheduled to open at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in 2009.

It has been over one year since the Universal Orlando Resort officially announced the addition of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park. But the latest rumors began just a few days ago, when London newspaper, The Sunday Mirror, published an article saying that Rowling has penned yet another Harry Potter adventure that is independent from all of the others.

The Mirror reported that the latest Harry Potter story is being made into a mini-film that will be shown solely at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter themed area located inside Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park. So when Universal’s new “theme park within a theme park” finally does open sometime next year, a Universal ticket will likely be required to get a glimpse of this unique Potter mini-flick.

According to the story published June 15, many of the Harry Potter regulars will star in the unique mini-movie. That includes the top trio of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who play best friends Harry, Hermione and Ron in all of the “Harry Potter” films.

The report said that the stars are already working on the mini-film that will be used at the Universal Orlando Resort theme park, and will wrap it up before they start filming the final two “Harry Potter” movies. The Mirror added that Potter cast members “are also working on extra sequences and clips which will be part of the rides” at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be the “world’s first fully immersive Harry Potter themed environment,” according to Universal’s original announcement about the “theme park within a theme park” released last year. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is expected to open in late 2009. It will be located inside Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park and a Universal ticket will be required for admission.

Disney and NASA Send Toys to Space

Disney favorite Buzz Lightyear blasted to infinity and beyond recently aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery, which soared toward the International Space Station from Kennedy Space Center in a picture perfect late afternoon launch on Saturday, May 31. The much-loved Space Ranger is spending several months at the Space Station as part of the NASA’s “Toys In Space” educational program.

Buzz’s fellow Toy Story companion Woody was on hand at the Kennedy Space Center when the Shuttle Discovery blasted Buzz back into the sky, but space travel wasn’t the only exciting news at the Walt Disney World Resort. Woody also took the opportunity to begin celebrating the official opening of the Toy Story Mania! attraction, which opened to guests at Disney Hollywood Studios on May 31.

“Toys in Space” is part of the “Space Ranger Education Series,” an effort by NASA to make studying science, technology and math (the STEM subjects) more fun and appealing to young students. Buzz’s trip “beyond” is meant to enhance the program developed by NASA and Disney to make space travel more accessible to school kids. “Toys in Space” offers downloadable classroom materials and online learning games to help teachers create a fun atmosphere in which to teach student about space and technology.

Buzz will be floating around at the ISS for several months, and during his stay he will be conducting experiments in zero gravity as well as appearing in video downlinks from the Space Station. There will no doubt be another space-tastic celebration when Buzz Lightyear makes his return trip back to earth.

Kennedy Space Center is open to the public, and you can get a close-up look by getting a Kennedy Space Center ticket right here at OrlandoFunTickets.com. We are the number one source on earth for cheap Orlando attraction tickets, and we can get you into Kennedy Space Center and Walt Disney World with just a couple of clicks.

If you want to see a space shuttle launch for yourself, there are two more space shuttle launches scheduled for this year at Kennedy Space Center. The Shuttle Atlantis is on the calendar for an October 8 launch, and the Shuttle Endeavour is scheduled to blast off on October 16. A Kennedy Space Center ticket is not required to view a space shuttle launch, as there are many amazing viewing sites close to the Kennedy Space Center campus.

The Simpsons Ride is the newest addition to the Universal Orlando Resort. It took over the building formerly occupied by The Back to the Future Ride at Universal Studios® Florida. The Simpsons Ride “catapults” you into Krustyland on a Simpsons family vacation. Universal tickets are required to ride along with The Simpsons.

Universal CityWalk Reveals New Karaoke Club

Ok, so you got your Universal tickets and had a blast at Universal Studios Orlando and Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Now you’re looking for a little nighttime action. Well, look no further than Universal CityWalk, the hot-hot-hot entertainment complex that connects both of the theme parks at the Universal Orlando Resort.

Universal CityWalk is one of the most happening places when it comes to Orlando night life, and you don’t even need a Universal ticket to get in. Last March, a star was born on the CityWalk skyline with the opening of CityWalk’s Rising Star, a karaoke club that is nothing like your karaoke outings at the sports bar back home.

Universal CityWalk karaoke club presents “karaoke with a twist”
Universal CityWalk’s newest nightclub, CityWalk’s Rising Star, is unlike any karaoke bar you have been to in the past. At CityWalk’s Rising Star, you don’t just sing some songs on a stage. CityWalk’s Rising Star transforms you into the star you have always wanted to be.

Karaoke singers at CityWalk’s Rising Star really get the chance to “shimmer, shine, and show off” because they don’t just mount the stage and perform lyrics off a TV screen. Before you step in front of the audience at CityWalk’s Rising Star, you are formally introduced by a real live emcee! And the star treatment doesn’t end there. At CityWalk’s Rising Star, your karaoke performance is enhanced by a full-live band and back-up singers to elevate your star power.

Universal CityWalk’s Rising Star turns karaoke into a live concert
You won’t find a broken down computer pumping out stale old songs on some souped-up home-stereo speakers at CityWalk’s Rising Star. No. CityWalk’s Rising Star has a brand new, state-of-the-art sound system for maximum amplification of your karaoke crooning. Throughout the club, flat panel monitors showcase your talent to audience members, who can sing along with the song lyrics on the screen too.

There’s nothing better after a day at the Universal Orlando Resort than being the guest of honor at your own live music extravaganza. Universal CityWalk’s Rising Star is just the place to wind down the night after using your Universal tickets all day.

CityWalk’s Rising Star is open nightly from 8 p.m.-2 a.m., and you must be over 21 years old every night except Thursday, when you have to be at least 18. There is a cover charge of $7 for admission, no charge to sing, and a Universal ticket is not required.

The Walls Have Finally Come Down Around The Simpsons Ride

The Simpsons Ride Slated to Open on May 15
The official unveiling of The Simpsons Ride at the Universal Orlando Resort has been set for May 15 at the Universal Studios Florida theme park. That’s just over 2 weeks away, folks, so get your Universal tickets today if you want to be one of the first to ride the newest addition to Universal Studios Florida.

Rumor has it that since the walls came down last week, some lucky Universal Studios guests can get a glimpse of The Simpsons Ride during its “Technical Rehearsal.” If you already have your Universal tickets and will be visiting Universal Studios Florida before The Simpsons Ride officially opens, wander by the ride site (where the Back to the Future Ride used to be) and see if you can sneak a peak for yourself. Let us know how you do!

Universal Orlando Cracks Down on YouTube Leaks
Over the past several days, videos revealing certain parts of the new Simpson Ride at Universal Studios Florida have been popping up on YouTube. The folks at Universal aren’t having it, though. Apparently as fast as the videos get posted, Universal officials find them and have them removed. I guess they don’t want to ruin the anticipation of the grand opening of The Simpsons Ride on May 15.

And honestly, who wants to sit on their computer at home and watch a video that can’t come close to the real thing anyway? Go on and get your Universal tickets today and you can head out to the Universal Studios Florida and experience the excitement of The Simpsons Ride for yourself!

The Simpsons Ride Includes All of Your Favorite Simpsons Characters
When The Simpsons Ride finally opens its doors for good in a couple weeks, you can finally see what it would be like to vacation with your favorite family funsters: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and even little Maggie.

The folks at Universal Studios Florida spared no expense when creating The Simpsons Ride, which cost a whopping $40 million. The voices of original Simpsons cast members were used throughout the all-new animation that was made specifically for The Simpsons Ride.

Here’s a list of all the The Simpsons characters making an appearance in Universal Studios’ brand new Simpsons Ride:
  • Krusty the Clown
  • Apu Nahasapeemapetilon
  • Barney Gumble
  • Cletus Spuckler
  • Grampa Abraham Simpson

Universal Orlando Resort is Coasting it Up a Notch

The Universal Orlando Resort announced last week that they will be adding a new roller coaster to their already impressive list of innovative rides and attractions. Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit will be the “most technologically advanced roller coaster in the world” when it opens in Spring 2009 at the Universal Studios Florida theme park. Be a part of the opening excitement! Plan your 2009 Orlando vacation and get your Universal tickets today.

Outstanding Interaction + Record-Breaking Action = Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit!
Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit, the newest coaster coming to Universal Studios Florida “is the perfect intersection of the digital age and theme park entertainment…where no two experiences will be the same,” according to Mark Woodbury, President of Creative for Universal Parks & Resorts.

This technological wonder coaster will combine sound and special effects with up-to-the-minute video technology and never-before-scene guest interaction to create the ultimate high intensity experience. A rival to this level of thrill and personalization does not exist in the world today, and all you need to see it is a ticket to Universal.

Universal’s New Coaster Boasts Speed, Sound, Height and…Video
The hot, new roller coaster opening next year at Universal Studios Florida will bring Orlando theme park thrills to a whole new level. Reaching speeds up to 65 miles per hour and a height of 17 stories over Universal Studios, Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit is sure to be the must-see Orlando attraction for 2009.

Before you board your teched-out coaster car, there LED displays as you wait in line will allow you to pick your favorite music genre – classic, rock, rap, country, pop, or disco – and song to accompany you on your upcoming thrill ride.

And the fun doesn’t end with the ride. Once you exit the coaster, Universal blows you away with one of the best vacation souvenirs ever – a video of your coaster experience. What makes this segment of the Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit experience even more impressive is that you edit your own take-home music video with your favorite scenes from your own ride.

The Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit is scheduled to open at Universal Studios Florida in Spring 2009 – just in time for next year’s spring break celebration. Be one of the first to enjoy this new level of coaster craziness. Start planning next year’s winter vacation and get your Universal tickets today.

Disaster Hits Universal Studios

Its not often that we anticipate a catastrophic event but in the vacation world of Orlando things are sometimes a bit warped. Last week, a new Disaster! hit at the Universal Orlando Resort and guests at Universal Studios now have the opportunity of taking part in a great new production endeavor at “Disaster Studios,” the calamity-ridden motion picture “Mutha Nature.”

Nobody likes a real disaster, though, especially one involving spending too much money. You can prevent that by getting all of your cheap theme park tickets at OrlandoFunTickets.com! We are your number one source for tickets to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and beyond.

The new Universal Studios attraction – officially named “Disaster! A Major Motion Picture Ride…Starring You!” – opened to guests on January 16. Superstar wrestler and actor Dwayne Johnson (aka “The Rock”) was on hand for the ride’s introduction to the park, and he also plays a major role in the faux film being produced on Disaster!, “Mutha Nature.” The ride’s movie also features Christopher Walken as the film’s director, Frank Kincaid.

Disaster! is replacing the Earthquake ride, which closed last year. The new experience takes some of the best elements of the old attraction and combines them with a brand new storyline, super celebrity guests and more audience interaction. As the ride – and movie production – progresses, participants become extras and celebrities come to life using a cutting edge virtual imagery technology called “musion.” This “high-definition video projection system” has allowed the techies at Universal to “blend illusion with reality.” Basically, it turns a two-dimensional image into a realistic live three-dimensional image virtually giving life to the characters throughout the ride.

The final stage of the ride brings visitors to a setting reminiscent of the subway scene in the old Earthquake ride, where guests play the role of commuters experiencing a disastrous trip. Once they have dealt with fire, flood and the ground breaking up beneath them, relieved riders are treated to a special viewing of the trailer for the special version of the Disaster Studios film “Mutha Nature” that they have just created.

While real disasters are never welcome, new attractions always are, and this new way to “ride the movies” at Universal Studios Orlando is no exception. Another welcome treat is the discount Universal tickets you will always find at OrlandoFunTickets.com. For your family vacation, come take your starring role in the new Disaster!

Top 10 Attractions at Walt Disney World

The Walt Disney World Resort is very well known for their world class theme parks and attractions but with so much to choose from how does one possibly choose a favorite ride or attraction? The answer may be simple – you can’t have just one! Below you will find a list of the 10 most popular attractions at the Walt Disney World Resort – and while some of them (ok, most) are thrill rides and not for the faint of heart, most of these are also attractions that the entire family is sure to fall in love with… and want to experience again and again!

It is important to note, however, that everything below has one prerequisite for you before you can experience it – theme park admission! Yes, Disney has the best attractions of any theme park resort in the world, but if you don’t have any tickets, you are missing out. This is where OrlanfoFunTickets.com can help out – we are your No. 1 online source for discounted Disney tickets, offering you deals that you can’t get anywhere else. Click here now to see all of our unbelievable discounted prices on Walt Disney World tickets so that you can start experiencing these attractions for yourself – and coming up with a top 10 list of your own!

Without further ado, here is OrlandoFunTickets.com’s top 10 attractions at the Walt Disney World Resort.

10. Summit Plummet at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park What goes up must come down! We start off the list with perhaps the biggest thrill ride of them all. Climbing 12 stories in the air, Summit Plummet is a 120-foot ride that is the world’s tallest and fastest free-fall body slide. If that isn’t enough to get you excited (or scared out of your mind!), then you may also want to know that while you take the plunge, you can reach speeds of up to 55 mph. But don’t worry – even if you are scared, it is over in less than five seconds!

9. Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios This show is still fairly new at the Walt Disney World Resort, and it is as popular here as it was at Disneyland Paris where it originated. Featuring incredible stunts using specially-designed cars, motorcycles and jet skis, plus tons of other special effects, this stunt show also gives the audience a rare look at how car chases and collision scenes in movies and on TV are created and filmed.

8. The Seas with Nemo & Friends at Epcot This pavilion in Epcot is based after the loveable movie and begins as you cruise in a clammobile and ride along with all of your favorite friends from the animated feature “Finding Nemo.” Afterwards, all kinds of treats await guests, including up-close views of marine wildlife and the opportunity to interact with your favorite sea turtle, Crush, in Turtle Talk with Crush.

7. Space Mountain at the Magic Kingdom Park An oldie-but-goodie, Space Mountain has entertained millions of guests since the Magic Kingdom Park opened and will continue to do so for decades. This attraction is a six-passenger, high-speed roller coaster that is completely in the dark and makes you feel as if you are seated in a rocket that is racing through space. While this thrill ride may have one of the longest wait times you will find in any park, any hard-core Disney enthusiast will tell you that it is well worth the wait!

6. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios “Walk this way!” That’s right – thrill seekers have found plenty of reasons to walk on over to the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster! Guests jam along to their favorite Aerosmith tunes as they rocket from zero to 60 mph in under two seconds at the beginning of this action-packed ride. The entire coaster is inside and primarily in the dark, and there are plenty of twists and loops along the way to make even the most die-hard thrill ride fans keep coming back for more.

5. Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park A trip to the Walt Disney World Resort would not be complete without a visit to the Kilimanjaro Safaris. On this 32-passenger guided safari adventure through more than 100 acres of re-created African terrain, you can expect to see exotic animals such as giraffes, zebras, rhinos, elephants, crocodiles, lions, hippos and more, as they all roam free throughout the land. There really is no other attraction like this at the Walt Disney World Resort, and whether you are an animal lover or not, we promise this will be a welcome respite from the chaos that awaits you back in the park after your return from the safari.

4. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios This attraction is perhaps the best themed ride in the entire world. From the moment you approach the Hollywood Tower Hotel to the trek you make into the lobby, everything at this attraction will make you believe that you really are entering a hotel from Hollywood’s Golden Age. And once inside, things really start to get scary! Guests will board elevators that have four different random sequences of drops – so you never know which sequence you will get once you get on board. In all, each ride will plummet down 13 stories in matter of just three exhilarating seconds. This attraction never seems to get old, as can be seen by the number of people who ride it daily – and the number of people who repeatedly keep coming back for more.

3. Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park This welcome addition to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is a high-speed train adventure that takes guests through the 20-story towering Forbidden Mountain. While onboard, riders will travel both forward and backward through mountain caverns and canyons as you head for a face-to-face encounter with the yeti – otherwise known as the Abominable Snowman! The first real thrill ride at Animal Kingdom, this ride fits in perfectly at this theme park and has finally given thrill seekers another reason to shout – literally!

2. Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park Consistently rated as the top show at Walt Disney World, this approximately 30-minute intimate production features dancers, singers, characters, and larger-than-life puppets of Simba, Pumba, an elephant and a giraffe in a spectacle that is worth of Broadway. You can expect to see and hear all of your favorite songs from the movie performed, as well as some ballet, acrobatics, fire twirling and a lot of fun for the whole family.

1. Soarin’ at Epcot Soarin’ came to Epcot in 2005 after becoming one of the most popular attractions at Disney’s California Adventure Park in Anaheim, Calif., and this attraction has been marveling guests in Florida ever since. This unique attraction is great because it is enjoyable for literally everyone in the family, no matter what your age or what kind of rides you like to go on. Soarin’ simulates hand gliding over the natural wonders of the state of California, and guests will literally feel the wind in their hair and experience smells such as the California orange groves as they soar across the state. No matter what the wait time, this is one attraction you can’t leave the Walt Disney World Resort without visiting!
