SeaWorld Holiday Magic!!!!
SeaWorld is one of the most beloved marine life parks in the world. Not only does it provide amazing entertainment and great roller coasters, it’s also home to the famous killer whale Shamu and a wildlife research institute that has saved many animals, helped propagate endangered species and come up with new technology to help marine life that is sick. Shamu and SeaWorld go hand in hand, the killer whale is the ultimate symbol of the beautiful park---but do you ever think of SeaWorld and Christmas? It’s kind of hard to imagine having a winter wonderland in a park that focuses on the animals of the ocean or any of the Orlando theme parks, but every holiday season SeaWorld transforms into a holiday experience people of all ages can enjoy. It starts off with an incredible Christmas tree that reaches high into the sky at 32 feet. There are garlands and twinkling Christmas lights that surround the park and reflect off the lake, truly making the park experience magical. At night the guests can enjoy the Waterfront Christmas stroll. You’ll hear wonderful live holiday music as you walk by beautiful lights and decorations on your way to meet Santa Shamu and take a special holiday picture. But the experience that brings the most holiday magic to Sea World has to be The Polar Express Experience. Just like the beloved story, which was awarded the prestigious Caldecott Medal, The Polar Express Experience will transport your kids to the North Pole where they will get to meet Santa Claus himself. The park’s Wild Arctic section will welcome kids to a North Pole full of adorable walruses, polar bears and beluga whales for an experience they’ll never forget! If you would rather experience the holidays in the islands, you can also stop by the Makahiki Christmas Luau. Experience a Polynesian feast, hula and fire dancing all infused with a holiday twist as the classic SeaWorld attraction gets into the holiday spirit. The holiday fun begins November 13th at SeaWorld Orlando and runs all the way until January 3rd. The Polar Express Experience and the Makahiki Christmas Luau are just a few of the great holiday activities SeaWorld Orlando has in store. Stay tuned for more! The kids are back in school and those with seasonal jobs are back to work. Retailers are preparing for the holidays and the Orlando theme parks are gearing up for Halloween events. What does this all mean for those of you thinking of heading to Orlando now? Shorter lines! That’s right, you can expect to find shortened wait times in all of the Orlando theme parks including SeaWorld, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and the Walt Disney World parks. After all, it’s the closest experience you can get to actual flying as you glide around the huge track face down with your arms and legs free to dangle or cling to the bars for dear life (depending on what kind of rider you are, of course). At Islands of Adventure, The Hulk is one of the most popular rides and always a long wait right along with Spiderman (both of them located on Marvel Superhero Island). Spiderman is definitely a favorite and it even won a Golden Ticket Award for Best Dark Ride. At Universal Studios Orlando Revenge of The Mummy and the brand new Rip Ride Rockit are the big ticket thrill rides you usually need to wait in line for. At the Walt Disney World Resort, you can always expect the “Mountains” at the Magic Kingdom to have long wait lines. Mission Space and Soarin’ at Epcot and Aerosmith’s Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster and Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios usually have packed lines, as well. Such is not the case this time of year. But you can also take advantage of two special holiday parties that will guarantee short lines on just about every ride! Both Mickey’s Not-so-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party allow only a certain number of people into the parks to experience holiday fun the way only Walt Disney World can. Busch Gardens to Bring Sesame Street to Tampa Bay
How many of you remember learning to count with The Count and learning about the letter C with the Cookie Monster? Sesame Street has been a part of childhoods across the world since the show first began in 1969. The longest running children’s program on TV is often credited by immigrants for helping them learn English and it is a franchise still going strong thanks to newer characters like Elmo. Now, Orlando theme parks are about to get a dose of educational fun thanks to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. The Sesame Street additions to the Busch Gardens theme parks began back in April of 2009 with the Sesame Street Forest of Fun opening in Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. This adorable little park features kid-friendly roller coasters, a “Dine with Elmo & Friends” dinner show and a number of other attractions like musical performances and log flume rides even parents can enjoy. So far this attraction has been a big hit with Sesame Street fans at Tampa Bay’s sister park. The Busch Entertainment Corp. also owns Sesame Place, a Sesame Street-themed park, near Philadelphia. As for Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, construction for their Sesame Street section is already underway. The theme park plans to have this new addition completed in 2010. So where will this adorable play land be? Officials are saying that Busch Gardens will transform its 14-year-old Land of the Dragons section into the new Sesame Street attraction. Official details, including ride names, will be announced later on this summer. OrlandoFunTickets.com can tell you that permits four buildings and a small coaster have been secured for this new addition and you can check back with us for full details on the Sesame Street attraction as they are revealed to the public. If you’re traveling to the Orlando theme parks in the near future and are looking for a Sesame Street fix, you can find one right over at SeaWorld Orlando. As part of the Busch Entertainment family, you can find favorites like Elmo and Cookie monster in the SeaWorld parks as well. If you’re visiting during the summer or holiday seasons, you can catch a glimpse of Elmo and Abby Cadabby’s Treasure Hunt. This cute seasonal show features Elmo and Abby along with the Cookie Monster, Rosita and Grover looking for a magical treasure box that leads them on an adventure that uses their imagination and yours. Make sure you pick up a schedule the next time you visit SeaWorld to see if Elmo and Abby Cadabby’s Treasure Hunt is playing and enjoy the show until Busch Gardens opens their Sesame Street attraction in 2010. SeaWorld Lights Up After Dark
Aside from bringing warmer temperatures, bigger crowds of tourists, and new roller coasters and attractions, summertime in Orlando also means extended theme park hours, particularly at SeaWorld. However, the extra hours are just one of the reasons why it’s currently one of the best times in the year to visit the aquatic theme park. From now through September 7, SeaWorld kicks up the fun a few notches every night with SeaWorld After Dark, consisting of special attractions and shows, an all-new fireworks spectacular, and other nighttime fun. Rides, shows, dining, you name it – everything seems to get better when the sun goes down at SeaWorld. Normally, SeaWorld closes at 6 pm every evening, but now, the park will stay open until 10 pm with your favorite attractions staying open as well. And in addition to tried and true favorites like Kraken and the Shark Encounter, SeaWorld will feature new attractions at night. Among them is Shamu Rocks, a spectacular rock n’ roll featuring everyone’s favorite killer whale at Shamu Stadium. A high-energy concert of unprecedented proportions, Shamu Rocks combines amazing moves from Shamu with a stunning light show and music from some of the hottest rock stars in the industry. Up next is Sea Lions Tonight, featuring the park’s own comedic sea lion duo, Clyde and Seamore. These two will have you laughing into the night with their hilarious hijinks, which include recruiting SeaWorld’s talented sea lions, otters, and walruses to parody other favorite shows at the park. Clyde and Seamore perform twice nightly at the Sea Lion & Otter Stadium. Finally, closing down SeaWorld After Dark each night at 9:50 pm is Reflections, a spectacular celebration of soaring fountains and dazzling fireworks. All other fountain shows are put to shame by this display of wonder, accompanied by the thrilling and inspirational music of SeaWorld’s most popular shows. Best yet, park guests will now be able to enjoy the show from front-row, comfortable seats at Bayside Stadium. One of the best features of SeaWorld After Dark this year is also getting to ride Manta, the park’s newest roller coaster, in the dark. Though the ride is lit, of course, there’s a unique thrill in diving and looping through the nighttime sky headfirst. If you’ve experienced the ride over and over again during the day, we definitely recommend trying it with this fun twist. In between seeing all the great shows and riding all the great coasters during SeaWorld After Dark, don’t forget to grab some dinner. The Makahiki Luau Dinner and Show is a particularly great option as guests will get to enjoy a Polynesian festival while they enjoy Pacific Isle cuisine. The park’s Seafire Inn becomes a tropical haven during the Luau, which serves up family-style entrees while entertaining with breathtaking fire dances and astounding costumes. Catch a Preview of the Flying Ray at SeaWorld
Only one roller coaster in Orlando allows you to spin, glide, skim, and fly like a manta ray - face down! And that is Manta, the sick (we mean that in a good way) new attraction at SeaWorld Orlando. Though the official opening of the coaster is May 22, Manta has been open in sneak preview form all week to riders, and the reviews are in - Manta is one of the most exciting, unique, and fun experiences to come to Orlando in a long time. Though not all the sea life is in place and final tweaks still have yet to be made to the ride before it’s officially unveiled at the end of the month, guests who have ridden Manta so far say it’s an intense but fun experience. From the ground, the ride looks smooth and tame, even, but riding the ray is a completely different experience. Upon first getting onto the ride, everything seems normal - at first. Riders sit down in the vehicle normally (four across) and get strapped in snugly across the chest and legs. But as the ride begins its machinations, the entire vehicle swings forward, placing riders at a horizontal, face-down position. But still, so far so good as the ride gets off to a slow climb. At that point, riders will have a chance to enjoy a unique perspective of Orlando - face down, with no obstructions in the way. It’s the kind of moment where you can say, “Hey, I can see my house from here,” and it’s actually quite nice until the ride jolts into high gear - and then, we’ll just say that the ‘slow’ part of the ride is definitely over. From the front row, Manta can be a genuinely scary experience, since no other vehicle is in front, making the whole face-down aspect even more thrilling. But from the back rows, riders report that Manta is genuinely intense and almost jarring, with G forces being felt much more significantly than on the other rows. The consensus is that the back rows are best reserved for the hardcore roller coaster rider, while those looking for a less rocky thrill will be happy with the front row – if they can handle the more psychologically scary view! No matter what row you’re in though, you’ll definitely feel like you’re flying like a manta while riding the coaster. Meanwhile, the experience of waiting to ride Manta is almost as entertaining as the ride itself – the queue area has been beautifully designed with waterfalls and several aquariums filled with tropical fish, sea dragons, and manta rays. Guests will wait comfortably inside the mostly covered and climate controlled area while they watch rays soaring mesmerizingly overhead. In these early weeks, all the tanks’ inhabitants haven’t yet been added – but keep an eye out for the home-grown coral, the giant 12-pound pacific octopus, who can reportedly put together puzzles, and plenty of weedy and leafy sea dragons. For those who don’t think they can handle Manta’s exhilarating flight, the attraction also offers a separate aquarium especially for non-riders. So if you’re traveling with a group of friends slightly braver than you, you won’t be bored while you wait for them to get off the ride. If you can’t wait until May 22 to experience Manta, head on down to SeaWorld and join the others who decided they couldn’t wait either – just get ready to wait on line, since this is one thrill that’s already very popular. Check out discount SeaWorld tickets on OrlandoFunTickets.com to begin your Manta flight. Labels: manta, New attractions, Orlando Roller Coasters, Sea World, Seaworld Orlando
Meet Jack Hanna at Busch Gardens & SeaWorld
David Letterman has learned to be wary of Jack Hanna, because whenever the zoo keeper and animal expert comes around, one never knows who - or what - will be traveling with him. From really big snakes to furry baby cougars, Hanna is known for introducing people to all kinds of animals and possessing a deep knowledge of those animals. And now, “Jungle Jack” will be paying a visit to SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay to share some of his animal wisdom with park guests. At Busch Gardens in Tampa, Hanna will visit the park for a few events in late April and early May. It all starts with the Meet Jack Hanna show, which will be held on April 26 and May 3. During the show, Hanna will bring out some of his scaly, feathery, and furry friends and share a little information about each one. Shows will take place at 11:30 am, 2 pm, and 4 pm in the Stanleyville Theater. Hanna will also join in on the fun during special Family Sleepovers on April 25 and May 2, as well as during a special Serengeti Night Safari on April 26. A night of family fun at Busch Gardens, the Jack Hanna Family Sleepover will provide the whole family with behinds the scenes access, encounters with animal nightlife, and a tasty dinner. Guests will spend the night at the park and wake up to meet tigers in Jungala, enjoy a continental breakfast, and hang out with Hanna. The sleepovers run from 6 pm to 9 am and require a separate ticket; Busch Gardens admission isn’t required or included. Admission to the park also isn’t included or required for the Serengeti Night Safari with Jack Hanna, which offers a night to remember with the animal expert. This two-hour long nighttime experience begins in the exclusive Safari Club with a few tasty treats. Then, guests will travel under moonlight to explore the nighttime mysteries of hippos, lions, and hyenas before proceeding on a guided safari expedition, complete with night vision monoculars. The Night Safari will wrap up with fun around the bonfire with Hanna, who’ll regale guests with tales of African lore. During both days of Hanna’s shows at Busch Gardens, the park will also offer a special breakfast with “Jungle Jack.” An experience not to be missed, this fun-filled breakfast offers guests the opportunity to query Hanna all about your favorite creatures. It also includes a delicious buffet, some ‘wild’ entertainment, and special reserved seats at his first show. The Exclusive Breakfast with Jack Hanna requires additional tickets along with the usual Busch Gardens admission, which is not included. Meanwhile, over at SeaWorld in Orlando, Hanna will sharing his enthusiasm and seemingly limitless knowledge of the animal world on May 1 and 2 during shows at 1:15 pm and 3:30 at the Nautilus Theater on May 1. The park will also host breakfast with the animal expert on those mornings. Guests will get to feast on Chef-carved ham, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, biscuits and gravy, smoked bacon, sausage, French toast sticks, seasonal fresh fruits, breakfast pastries, bagels, and yogurt. If you love animals, then you definitely won’t want to miss meeting one of the world’s most renowned animal experts and zookeepers. Hanna will wow you with his amazing connection with all animals, and you’re sure to learn plenty during any one of SeaWorld or Busch Gardens’ Hanna encounters. Viva La Musica Festival Spices Up SeaWorld
Sure, there might be spicy food and music going on over at Universal Studios with Mardi Gras. But as much as we might love performers like Kelly Clarkson and Pat Benatar, we’re not sure they have the stuff to really light stages on fire. At this time of year, there’s only one event that can claim to having hottest music, and that’s the Viva La Musica Festival at SeaWorld and Busch Gardens, which is kicking off March with sultry salsa, moving meringue, and reggaeton rhythms. From Saturday, March 7, to Sunday, March 29, this red-hot Hispanic festival will heat up both both parks with live entertainment from award-winning Latin artists. Each day will feature a concert along with a different performer, as well as plenty of Latin sabor (flavor) with popular Hispanic food available for purchase and authentic arts and crafts. The festival will begin at 11 am, with each concert beginning at 4 pm. At SeaWorld, the Viva La Musica Festival will take place each Saturday, starting with a performance from El Gran Combo on March 7, who will thrill the crowds with their legendary Puerto-Rican flavored salsa. On March 14, Tito El Bambino will take the stage with his reggaeton hits. On March 21, the world renowned “Princess of Salsa,” La India, will perform salsa hits from her Grammy-award winning career. And on March 28, the festival will wrap up at SeaWorld with a concert from Fonseca. At Busch Gardens, the Viva La Musica Festival will take place each Sunday, and El Gran Combo will return to launch the concert series on March 8. On March 15, Puerto Rican reggaeton duo and 2008 Viva La Musica Festival performers RKM & Ken-Y will take the stage. On March 22, the popular meringue group Grupomanía will perform. And the festival will conclude on March 29 with Columbian band Guayacan, who’ll perform exhilarating salsa songs. Concert seating is available on a first-come, first served basis, so be sure to get to SeaWorld or Busch Gardens early for the best spot. While you’re dancing away to fiery beats and sampling tasty Latin fare, all your favorite park rides, shows, and attractions will still be open. So why not spice things up? Admission to Viva La Musica is free with regular SeaWorld tickets or Busch Gardens tickets, so simply get yours here at OrlandoFunTickets.com to be a part of the fun. Behind the Scenes at SeaWorld
If you know the layout of places like Walt Disney World without a map and can rattle off the attractions at Universal Studios without missing a beat, then chances are you’ve done your fair share of visiting Orlando theme parks. But what do you do when you feel like you’ve seen everything there is to be seen? At that point, you go behind the scenes at SeaWorld Orlando, where new tours provide one-of-a-kind experiences, wild adventures, and a side of the park we guarantee you’ve never encountered before. An addition to the park that started at the beginning of the year, the new Behind the Scenes Tour gives guests a glimpse at what happens under the water at SeaWorld. The tour is led by a knowledgeable guide, who’ll provide fascinating facts about the park and its commitment to wildlife. On the tour, guests will learn about how SeaWorld’s animal experts care for rescued manatees and sea turtles, they’ll explore one of the hidden polar bear dens in the Wild Arctic, and they’ll separate shark fact from fiction before interacting with a small shark in a private area of Shark Encounter. And that’s not all – the Behind the Scenes tour will take guests into some areas that regular park guests never get to see, such as the special Avian Research Building. There, guest will be able to meet and touch one of the park’s penguin inhabitants. The tour also takes guests on a tram through SeaWorld’s back road, which winds right underneath the massive Kraken. The Behind the Scenes tour is best suited for guests ages 5 and up, and 10% of the admission will be donated to the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund to support research projects around the world. With 90 minutes of SeaWorld fun and animals you wouldn’t see otherwise, it’s definitely a worthwhile variation from the normal activities and attractions available at the park. And if you love animals, you should definitely check out some of the other tours the park has to offer. For example, the Penguin Spotlight Tour is especially fun for those who are passionate about penguins and eager to learn more about these unique and funny birds. A 60-minute walking tour, Penguin Spotlight takes guests behind the scenes of the Penguin Encounter to hear from SeaWorld’s animal experts and learn about how they care for the penguins. Guests will also get to see a puffin up close and interact with some adorable penguins. Similarly, the Dolphin Spotlight Tour is the way to go if you love these happy-go-lucky creatures. Also a 60-minute walking tour, the Dolphin Spotlight takes guests backstage at Whale and Dolphin Stadium to discover what it takes to care for and train the stars of SeaWorld’s Blue Horizons show. Then, guests will get to test their skills as a trainer and get up close with a dolphin. If you’ve seen every attraction at SeaWorld or you simply want to go all out when you visit this unique park, the Behind the Scenes tours are definitely the way to go. The tours all require separate admission to the park, but that’s easy – you can simply score your discount SeaWorld tickets here at OrlandoFunTickets.com. Breaking News: Anheuser-Busch Merger Completed, Future of Parks Unclear
It is official; as of Tuesday, November 18th, Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc. is now Anheuser-Busch InBev, as the company has been purchased by Belgian beer maker InBev for $52 billion dollars. Shareholders of Anheuser-Busch approved the deal on Wednesday, making Anheuser-Busch InBev the world’s largest beer manufacturer and holder of a 49% share of US Beer sales. Anheuser-Busch (AB) will now be a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev, retaining its headquarters in St. Louis, which also will become the North American office for the new company. Taking over as President will be Dave Peacock, AB’s vice-president of marketing, while the former president and CEO of AB, August Busch IV, will become a director on the board of AB InBev along with InBev’s current board members. Based in Leuven, Belgium, InBev produces Stella Artois and Beck, among others. It will now extend its beer portfolio to include American brands Budweiser, Bud Light, Busch, and Michelob, and it will take over AB’s 50% share in Mexico’s leading brewer Grupo Modelo and 27% share in China brewer Tsingtao. InBev has announced that it will not be closing down any American breweries and will be retaining most of AB’s executives. Though the merger of Anheuser-Busch and InBev is certainly newsworthy enough in itself, theme park fans are most interested in what the merger will mean for Busch Entertainment’s several theme parks. Busch Entertainment Corp., which is a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch, is one of the largest theme park operators in the US. With the merger becoming official, what will happen to the company and its parks is now ultimately up to InBev, and since the parks are “non-core assets,” it seems likely that InBev will decide to sell them. Rumors have been swirling that several companies, including the Anheuser family themselves, are preparing to make bids for Busch Entertainment and its parks, which include SeaWorld in Orlando, San Antonio, and San Diego, Aquatica, Discovery Cove, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Williamsburg, Sesame Place, Adventure Island, and Water Country USA. Some of the suitors interested in Busch Entertainment include US private equity firm Blackstone, which is a co-owner of Universal Studios and a major shareholder of England-based Merlin Entertainment, and Spain-based Parques Reunidos. There have also been unconfirmed reports and speculation that Disney will make an offer, as the company is supposedly very interested in the SeaWorld parks. Disney, who has never bought a separate theme park before, has not confirmed any plans to purchase Busch Entertainment, and some suggest that this rumor is being spread by InBev to heighten interest and start a bidding war. Analysts predict that a Disney purchase is unlikely, as Disney does not typically try to grow by purchasing other companies, and it already owns several parks and properties in Orlando. Since InBev has made no official announcement of its plans with Busch Entertainment, everything is purely speculative at this point. Even animal rights group PETA has announced that it has a secret donor who wanted to buy SeaWorld and release all its animals into the wild. No one, however, expects this to actually occur. Ultimately, we’ll have to wait and see what happens to Busch Entertainment’s beloved theme parks. We’ll continue to keep you posted on this developing and important story, and in the meantime, you can still enjoy the parks with discount Orlando theme park tickets from OrlandoFunTickets.com. All Aboard the Polar Express at SeaWorld
You know the holiday season is coming on when all the parks begin to feature special attractions and decorations designed to get its visitors into the holiday spirit. There is no place like the Orlando theme parks to enjoy one-of-a-kind holiday entertainment, and though it’s hard to believe the season is here already, SeaWorld Orlando is gearing up for the return of the Polar Express Experience, which debuted last year. The Polar Express Experience, based on the 2004 animated film, takes riders on an amazing journey into the North Pole. From November 14th through January 4th, 2009, the simulator that takes riders on a wild helicopter ride through the Arctic will transform into an unforgettable train ride into the fabled Santa Town. With laughs, exciting thrills, and animal encounters, the Polar Express Experience will make believers out of anyone. The ride starts with a three-minute preshow explaining the film’s backstory. Just before midnight on Christmas Eve, a little boy is lying awake in his bed, straining to listen for the sound of sleigh bells. Suddenly, he hears the roar of a train outside his window – it’s the Polar Express, arriving to take him on a wild adventure to the North Pole. With a resounding train whistle, riders climb aboard the Polar Express to share in on the boy’s journey. They experience classic scenes from the movie, recreated with special lighting, scent, sounds, and motion effects. Guests will swear they’re actually on the Express, feeling the rush of the train as it moves and the feeling of ice crumbling beneath them. The Polar Express Experience is a wild ride that doesn’t stop when the train stops; at the end of the journey, riders step off the train and into the North Pole! They will smell Christmas cookies in the air, see bright lights twinkle on a towering Christmas tree, and witness first-hand all the elements of Santa’s village – including jolly St. Nick himself. Families will get to greet Santa and enjoy a magical Christmas moment. Guests will also get to meet the animal inhabitants of the North Pole, including graceful beluga whales, large polar bears, and ambling walruses. The Polar Express Experience isn’t the only fun to be had at SeaWorld during the holiday season though. After the ride, be sure to catch a festive holiday show, Shamu Christmas … Miracles. From November 12th through December 30th, Shamu Stadium will brighten with lights and candles for a festive night of full of Christmas carols, a gospel choir, and special moves and splashes by Shamu. There’s also Christmastide, a spectacular holiday fountain show with water, light, and merry Christmas sounds. And don’t forget to take in the sights and sounds of the Waterfront, which turns into a winter scene with snow and holiday decorations. So if you’re feeling a little blue and need a pick-me-up to get into the holiday season, head down to SeaWorld for an adventure into the North Pole and spectacular holiday shows that will get you counting down to Christmas like a kid again.
