Space Mountain Refurbishment Details Leaked
Magic Kingdom Park and Disney officials have been keeping the recent refurbishment details of Space Mountain relatively quiet, but OrlandoFunTickets.com has some of the inside scoop on some of the recent developments in this iconic attraction. Originally opened in January of 1975, Space Mountain has since been an iconic ride staple at Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom Park. As the oldest operating roller coaster in the state of Florida and not having any work done on the ride since its last closure in September 1999, the ride was due for a face-lift. And, that is exactly what the ride will be getting, until its reopening date of November 21, 2009. “We’re retaining many of the classic elements that made Space Mountain a rite of passage at the Magic Kingdom that’s been enjoyed by generations,” says a spokesperson for Walt Disney World. Rumors have been flying about what his actual “face lift” will entail, but it seems as if it will be getting some extra work done, as well. During the first week of June, a construction notice was tied to “an attraction at Magic Kingdom Park” that called for an installation of an “interactive queue” and audio-visual upgrades. With the re-opening of the Hall of Presidents right around the corner and too little time left to make those changes, what else could they possibly be talking about other than Space Mountain?! This construction notice has spurred a whirl wind of ideas to what could possibly be going on within that Mountain. The queue area of the ride has been rumored to feature new projections and, even, interactive games (such as in the queue area for Soarin’ at Epcot). The ride loading area will be enclosed, so that guests cannot get a sneak peek of what lies inside. The rocket trains will remain relatively the same, with added soundtrack enclosed. The track will definitely be replaced with higher gauged steel, but the layout of the ride itself will not change. We have heard that the actual attraction inside will be getting darker, definitely adding to the scare factor while on the ride. Digital projections are rumored to be being added to the inside of the ride, as well. Also, a rumor of the rethemeing of the unload area is also possible, making you feel like you just pulled into a real space port. But rumors are rumors for a reason…no one really knows what is going on in there! Kudos to Disney for being so tight-lipped about these exciting new changes and keeping them under wraps! It makes the reopening on November 21st that much more exciting, so I guess we will just have to wait and see on the opening day! But, if you want to be the first to see these new and exciting changes to Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom, make sure to get your Disney tickets ahead of time; the line wait time will be long! So, save time and money with discount Disney tickets before you head off to the park for the day! Labels: Disney World refurbs, Magic Kingdom, Magic Kingdom Attractions, Space Mountain

Coasting Through Orlando Orlandos Best Roller Coasters and Where to Find Cheap Tickets to Ride Them Part 1
Orlando attractions are known for many things to many people. What you may not realize is that they are a roller coaster nut’s dream come true. Every Orlando theme park has at least one cool coaster thrill to offer, and OrlandoFunTickets.com has the discount theme park tickets to get you there. Here is the run down on what you will find flipping, looping, racing and roaring around the Orlando vacation station: For coaster crazies, the mountain trifecta in the Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort is the peak of perfection. (The cheap Disney tickets at OrlandoFunTickets.com are at the top of the list too!) Space Mountain is a quintessential Disney classic, but it is also a unique coaster experience. Located in Tomorrowland, this mini space shuttle blasts galactic travelers into outer space, removes all traces of light and then darts in and out among the planets and stars at what feels like hyper-speed because you are immersed in total darkness. Future astronauts must be at least 44” tall to board this ship to space, and wait times can be quite long. A FastPass is recommended due to the popularity of Space Mountain. Back in time and across the Magic Kingdom in Frontierland, Splash Mountain guests cruise along on the adventures of Brer Rabbit in the Briar Patch. Hallowed out logs carry you around twists, turns and mini-dips all while building up to a soaking five-story spill down Chick-a-pin Hill. You will be singing “Zip a Dee Doo Dah” all the way to the dryers in the bathroom by the exit. Visitors to the Briar Patch have to be at least 40” tall, and a FastPass is recommended due to the popularity of Splash Mountain. Just next door a piece, you can join an excavation down the bothersome mines in the old west town of Tumbleweed, but beware. The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad isn’t called the “wildest ride in the wilderness” for nothing. This runaway train transports its passengers through hidden caverns and mountainous peaks and keeps them screaming the whole hootin’ tootin’ way. Miners need to be at least 40” tall to explore these parts. Wait times can be a tad drawn out, so a FastPass is a good idear. So git your cheap Disney tickets now and start coasting through Orlando!
