Disneys Animal Kingdom Park Yak and Yeti Restaurant
There is a new first of its kind attraction at Disneys Animal Kingdom Theme Park one that actually doesnt involve live animals or a roller coaster but is creating quite a buzz and level of excitement around the Walt Disney World Resort. But if it doesn’t produce thrills, then what exactly is it? The Yak & Yeti Restaurant, the first full-service restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme Park! This Pan-Asian-inspired restaurant located in (where else?) Asia in the village of Anandapur and next to the ride’s biggest attraction, Expedition Everest, houses both a 250-seat indoor full-service restaurant with a 350-seat outdoor pavilion for patrons who would prefer the adjacent quick-service dining option. The dishes at the Yak & Yeti Restaurant are inspired by Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese and Indian cuisines, while the quick service restaurant mainly offers Chinese fare. But, no matter how delectable the dishes are, the atmosphere is second to none inside of the full-service establishment. Everyone knows that Disney goes above and beyond create authentic attractions at all of their theme parks, and the Yak & Yeti Restaurant is no different. Authentic souvenirs and artifacts direct from Southeast Asia adorn the walls and establish the mood inside the restaurant, and the gift shop even gets into the act, offering such unique things as teapots and sushi items.
The menu items range in price from around $5-$13 for appetizers (options include wok-fried green beans, steamed mussels and pork egg rolls), $15-$23 for entrees (tempura shrimp, mahi mahi and duck with Anandapur glaze are selections) and $6-$8 for dessert selections (try the fried wontons or chocolate brownie sundae). Counter service selections range from around $3 for a side to $11 for the most expensive entrée. You won’t find a huge range of items on the menu, as this establishment is opting for quality over quantity. Lunch is served daily from 10 a.m. until 3:45 p.m., and dinner starts at 4 p.m. until the park closes. The Yak & Yeti Restaurant is part of the 2008 Magic Your Way Disney Dining Plan, and while the restaurant at first only served walk-up guests, they started taking reservations for guests beginning on January 4, 2008 (these can be made by calling 407-WDW-DINE). To experience the Yak & Yeti Restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and all of the other wonderful attractions at all four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, you have to have theme park tickets to get inside.
