La Nouba - October Fun for Everyone

We have been blogging a lot about the great Halloween activities going on in the Orlando theme parks. Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party, Halloween Horror Nights, Howl-O-Scream and even Gatorland’s Gator Wood are all wonderful events you can go to for some scary fun. But there are a lot of people that don’t celebrate Halloween that still travel to Orlando during the beautiful fall months. So what are they to do? If you want high-quality entertainment but don’t want your personal beliefs offended because of certain Halloween imagery, why not enjoy the costumes, music and imagery of Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba?

La Nouba is Orlando’s permanent Cirque du Soleil show located in Downtown Disney’s West Side. The beautiful theatre was built specifically for this show that brings in thousands of Cirque du Soleil fans a year. La Nouba, which means “to party, to live it up,” features 65 artists from 15 different countries performing in beautiful acrobatic performances and circus-themed stunts. Like all Cirque du Soleil shows, amazing live singers back up a soundtrack that varies in musical genre. For La Nouba, jazz, hip-hop, opera and Klezmer music all fuse together for an amazing backdrop for the show which is set to look like a dream.

La Nouba features signature characters like every Cirque show. The Green Bird is a beautiful woman dressed in a bird costume that longs to fly with the acrobats of Cirque du Soleil. The Pierot Clown and the Lost Ballerina provide the romantic aspects of the show while Les Cons, the “silly people” dressed all in white, interact with the audience and serve as the liaison between the Cirque du Soleil show and the audience. You will be treated to amazing high-wire acts, flying trapeze work and the silk ballet, where beautiful dancers fly across the stage hanging on from long red curtains of shimmering silk.

The Cirque show runs Tuesday through Saturday at 6pm and 9pm. They are a great way to enjoy Orlando attractions during the Halloween months without impeding on any personal beliefs. So don’t hold back and come check out a Cirque du Soleil show!

One Drop, Big Difference for Cirque du Soleil Creator

Here in Orlando we are lucky to have the Cirque du Soleil resident show La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida. This beautiful show draws in thousands of guests eager to see the beautiful costumes and acrobatics of Cirque’s quality productions. Now the creator of this Montreal-based company will be embarking on a historical journey of his own in the name of charity. Guy Laliberté will be visiting the International Space Station with a Russian space crew via Soyuz-TMA 16 rocket to participate in an event called the Poetic Social Mission. This global event will help the environmental and humanitarian charity known as the One Drop Foundation.

This foundation brings to light the troubles of those in third world countries that have limited or polluted water supply. At OneDrop.org’s website, you can read the shocking statistics regarding water shortages that the citizens of these nations face every day. It takes about three gallons of water to produce one sheet of paper. Many of these citizens have only one gallon of water to survive off of each day. Once you do the math and realize how much water we take for granted, you will realize the importance of Laliberté’s Poetic Social Mission.

From space, Laliberté will be doing a webcast that will feature appearances by the world’s biggest politicians and entertainers. This will be a LIVE historical global webcast, which will be broadcasted from 14 cities worldwide. Expect to see stars like Al Gore, Matthew McConaughey, Salma Hayek, and U2 all joining in to help promote Guy Laliberté and OneDrop’s mission of “Water for All, All for Water,” in order to help those suffering in poor nations. As someone that has brought the incredible artistry of his Cirque du Soleil shows to cities all around the world, it’s great to see Guy Laliberté pushing creative limits even further by bringing global awareness to this cause from the International Space Station.

If you want to help, visit OneDrop.org or check out their Facebook, and Twitter pages. Also, don’t forget to tune into the historical webcast on October 9 at 8 pm Eastern Time and do your part to help save the world’s water sources and bring attention to this great cause.

La Nouba Livens Up Summer Nights

While there is never much question about what vacationers can do during the day in Orlando (Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, Universal Studios, etc., are the usual pastimes), many visitors aren’t sure what options there are in the way of nighttime fun in the city. After a long day of thrills and excitement at Orlando theme parks, visitors to Florida generally want to clean up, have a nice dinner, and then engage in something entertaining but relaxing. For this, we recommend a great Orlando show, such as Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba. Exciting enough for youngsters who still have plenty of energy at the end of the day, yet a relaxing enough activity for wiped-out adults, La Nouba will entertain everyone in the family and make a great end to a fun summer day.

If you haven’t already seen La Nouba, you’ll definitely want to see this quirky and avant-garde spectacle, which is currently returning from a spring hiatus that lasted through a good part of May. Performances resume tomorrow, June 2, in Downtown Disney’s West Side, where the exceptional theater built especially for Cirque du Soleil resides.

The only resident Cirque du Soleil show in Orlando, La Nouba is a visually astounding show that will mystify with its daring and incredible acrobatic acts. The title derives from the French phrase faire la Nouba, which means “to party” or “to live it up,” and this is evident in the energetic and colorful show, which keeps the entertainment constant with moving live music, opulent sets, brilliant choreography, and continuous feats of strength and grace.

The setting of La Nouba is a wondrous new world where dreams clash with reality, where mundane mixes with the marvelous, and it’s no longer possible to tell where one ends and the other begins. As the show weaves its way through this alternative universe and its characters attempt to make sense of it, audiences will be thrilled by scenes and acts that are threatening and exhilarating, frightening and familiar, and overall, passionate and wonderful.

Like all Cirque du Soleil shows, La Nouba is particularly extraordinary for its international cast of acrobats, athletes, and performance artists. Cirque always assembles a phenomenal group of performers, and the women and men that make La Nouba magical are no different; with more than 65 artists representing 15 countries, the show features incredible acts of coordination, balance, and athleticism, from traditional circus acts like the flying trapeze, aerial ballet, and high wire to the German wheels, Diabolos, power track/trampoline, and balancing on chairs.

And if you’ve never seen a Cirque du Soleil show before, La Nouba is a great one to start with; it features a loose storyline with recurring characters who will puzzle you, tug on your heartstrings, and make you laugh. By the end of the show, visitors feel the full purpose of the show’s beautiful feats and whimsical characters, which is to prove that even the impossible is possible.

A memorable show that will certainly be a highlight of your Orlando vacation, La Nouba is just one of the many great nighttime activities in the city. And as with all your Orlando fun, you can save on discount Cirque du Soleil tickets right here on OrlandoFunTickets.com.
