Who Let the Dogs Out?!

Walt Disney World did! With the newest addition to the Walt Disney World Resort, guests will now be able to bring the family pet along for the vacation of a life time! It was just announced that Disney will be presenting a new luxury pet resort, to open in the year 2010 at the Walt Disney World Resort.

The soon-to-be pet resort located along Bonnett Creek Parkway, will be the premiere location for guests to the Walt Disney World Resort area to keep their dogs and cats while on vacation. At the resort, family pets will be given special additional levels of service and amenities while their owners enjoy the Disney attractions and Orlando theme parks.

Built and operated by Best Friends Pet Care, Inc., guests can know that their pets are in good hands. Best Friends Pet Care, Inc. has taken over all responsibility for pet care on Disney property, assuming responsibility for the five existing pet boarding facilities located at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. By assuming full responsibility for these facilities, Best Friends Pet Care will get the opportunity to better understand the needs and wants of pets and pet owners before the grand opening of the new pet resort.

“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to come to Walt Disney World Resort to create the premier vacation destination for pets,” says Dennis Dolan, President and CEO of Best Friends Pet Care to examiner.com. “This project is still in the design phase, but our goal is to create a true resort destination for pets. This facility will be designed to fit into the Walt Disney World vacation experience and will be unlike anything else in the industry.”

The current kennel services provide both daytime and overnight boarding, but the new pet resort will feature top of the line care for those wanting nothing but the top-of-the line for their little (or big) Fido! The full-service luxury pet “resort” will feature luxury suites for pets with televisions and raised bedding. It will offer the best-of-the-best in pet hospitality services, day care, grooming, and doggy day camp. There will also be a full array of activities, such as nature walks, pet playgroups, ice cream treats, bedtime stories, and more! The services will be available for not only park and resort guests, but for Walt Disney World employees, as well.

So, while you spend your days at the Disney theme parks (with discount Disney tickets from OrlandoFunTickets.com, of course), send Fido and the family cat off to a day at the spa…Err resort…with all of their furry friends. It will be a vacation you, and your pet, will never forget!

Celebrate Your Birthday at a Disney Resort

As if the What Will You Celebrate promotion at Disney was not already cool enough, a Walt Disney World resort is now offering an additional present to complete your celebration. At the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin, guests can now enjoy a complimentary room on their birthday. Add in one of the great birthday gifts from Disney for your theme park adventures, and there’s no doubt now that Disney is the place to go for an all-out birthday celebration.

The Swan & Dolphin, a Four-Diamond luxury resort located in the heart of Disney World, is offering birthday guys and gals a complimentary birthday room with a minimum three-night stay. Under this offer, birthday celebrators can also purchase a second room for an additional $99 per night.

And to cap things off, when birthday guests dine in one of the Swan & Dolphin’s signature, award-winning restaurants, they’ll receive a complimentary birthday cake prepared by two-time champion pastry chef, Laurent Branlard. The resort’s restaurants include Todd English’s bluezoo, Shula’s Steak House, and Il Mulino New York Trattoria. Dinner reservations should be made at least five days in advance to allow for birthday cake preparations.

When guests book their birthday stay at the Swan & Dolphin, they should provide the rate code “BDAY.” And don’t forget to pack your ID when you go on vacation – you’ll need it to verify your birthday at the resort, but you’ll also need it to redeem your birthday treats when you visit Walt Disney World.

In case you need reminding, celebrating your birthday at Walt Disney World can earn you one of three awesome gifts: a 1-Day Magic Your Way base ticket for use any time until your next birthday; a birthday FASTPASS exchange card for a certain number of attractions at the Disney park you visit on your birthday (valid for the birthday person and up to five members of his/her party); or a birthday fun card in an amount equal to the price of a 1-day Magic Your Way base ticket to use for certain purchases like merchandise, recreation or tour experiences, or Disney’s PhotoPass on-site services at participating Walt Disney World locations. The birthday fun card never expires and can be used repeatedly until there’s no amount left on it.

All you have to do to redeem your three gifts is have your ID and a Walt Disney World ticket from OrlandoFunTickets.com handy, and head to the guest services line when you enter Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, or Hollywood Studios.

So if you’ve got a birthday coming up, there’s one guaranteed fun way that you can celebrate with friends in style – a trip to a Walt Disney World theme park, complete with a stay at the Disney Swan & Dolphin Resort. Start by checking out Walt Disney World tickets from OrlandoFunTickets.com, and you’ll be on your way to one great celebration.

High Tech Convenience with Online Services at Disney

There doesn not seem to be anything that can not be done on the internet these days. A person can buy stocks, groceries, and furniture, take an art class, and find a date for Saturday night. And now, Walt Disney World is jumping onto the internet convenience bandwagon with new services and tools that makes planning and taking a Disney vacation even easier.

One such service is online check-in, which was launched earlier this week for Disney resort. A completely free service available to all guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels and Disney Vacation Club resorts, online check-in is designed to simplify and streamline guest arrivals.

Here’s how it all works: within ten days of their arrival, guests go online and provide check-in information, let the resort know what time they’ll be arriving, and give their room preferences (though they can’t always be guaranteed). Guests can also provide the names of all the people in their party as well as a credit card to cover resort charges. Then when they arrive, instead of proceeding to the check-in desk, guests visit a special welcome location where their room keys and other registration material are waiting. Should they have any questions when they arrive, Disney cast members will be available to provide information.

“Our new Online Check-In Service offers added convenience and time savings for Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests,” said Kevin Myers, vice president of Resort Operations for Walt Disney World Resort. “It’s the latest benefit created as part of our continuous effort to provide a seamless and hassle-free arrival experience for our guests as they begin their Disney vacation.”

And if that wasn’t hassle-free enough, Walt Disney World also recently launched a new element on its website to make planning a Disney trip a little easier and more memorable. Now, guests can go online and use a new Web planner to learn about what fun experiences are available at Disney and even customize their own “celebration vacation” itinerary. With everything from fireworks cruises to street parties and specialty birthday cakes and parties, this interactive online celebration planner asks soon-to-be Disney guests “What Will You Celebrate?” and then tells them how they can celebrate it.

All guests have to do is go online and tell the planner what they’re celebrating – a birthday, reunion, personal triumph, romantic occasion, or even a first visit. Based on the occasion, the online planner gives a list of ideas, such as a Sweetheart Dinner for Two at Victoria & Albert’s or a trip to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom.

Now if only you could get your Walt Disney World tickets online…oh wait, you can! And you can get them at discount, too. Simply check out the tickets on OrlandoFunTickets.com, which you can even have delivered to your Disney resort, to which you can check-in online, after planning your Disney vacation on the internet. What will they put online next?

Camp Out at Walt Disney World

When most people come down to Walt Disney World, they do so for the sunshine, the rides, the unique attractions and shows, the characters, etc. – the list goes on and on. However, winter is the perfect season to try something that’s a little different from the Disney norm – camping! With the cooler temperatures in Orlando right now, nothing’s more fun than snuggling up to a campfire and roasting marshmallows at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.

Since 1971, the campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort have offered classic outdoor fun right in the middle of Walt Disney World. This picturesque campground features more than 700 acres of lush pine and cypress trees, and the scenery is truly beautiful this time of year. Hike through quiet trails beside trickling water canals in a serene forest filled with ducks, deer, and rabbits. You’ll enjoy all the outdoor beauty that would normally be covered with snow in other states during the winter. And unlike other campgrounds that are close together and only have a few trees, you’ll really feel like you’re in your own private patch of forest at Fort Wilderness.

If you don’t want to rough it entirely, Fort Wilderness also features over 400 charming cabins with all the amenities of a typical hotel room. These wilderness retreats are complete with fully equipped kitchens and a charcoal grill. Six people can sleep comfortably in them, and along with the campgrounds, they come with a wood deck and a picnic table. Since Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground is the only pet-friendly resort at Disney, you can also bring along Fido or Kitty for the fun.

Though most people enjoy escaping to the parks for the day, Fort Wilderness has plenty of activities to keep you occupied if you opt to hang out at the resort/campground. Normally, swimming is a popular pastime, though the water might be a little too chilly at present. Horse riding is also available, as well as fishing, biking, several sports, and even an arcade for those needing a momentary escape from nature. You can also rent movies at the Meadow Trading Post, which also sells groceries, limited camping supplies, and other sundries.

And since one can’t subsist on marshmallows alone, Fort Wilderness features plenty of dining options. Check out the Trail’s End restaurant for classic American fare or Crockett’s Lounge for a relaxing quick bite. You can also combine dinner with an incredible show at Mickey’s Backyard BBQ or the Hoop-Dee-Hoo Musical Revue.

With rates starting at $43 a night, the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground is an inexpensive alternative to staying in one of the pricier Disney resorts, which means you’ll have more money left over for fun at Disney theme parks. Combine that with all the savings you’ll get when you purchase Walt Disney World tickets at OrlandoFunTickets.com, and the result is one sweet winter deal.

Holiday Displays Are Good Enough to Eat at Disney Resorts

One of the best things about the holiday season is all of the delicious treats. From candy canes to gingerbread houses, there are plenty of seasonal snacks to satisfy your sweet tooth. And at Walt Disney World resorts, you’ll naturally find all kinds of incredible holiday desserts, such as carousels and trains. Wait – you say carousels and trains aren’t edible? Well, stop by some of Disney’s resorts to see some fantastic holiday displays made out of gingerbread, candy, and other sugary goodness. These giant masterpieces of pastry are 100% edible. And though you might cause a scene if you start gnawing on one of them, they’re definitely a sweet sight to see.

One must-stop this holiday season is Disney’s Beach Club Resort, which features a giant gingerbread carousel in the hotel lobby every holiday season. Every visible part of this display is edible, from the gingerbread floor and canopy and sugar poinsettias to the chocolate and fondant horses and star anise and cinnamon accents. The carousel even features white chocolate figures of Mickey Mouse and his friends.

It took a team of pastry chefs ten hours to assemble the carousel, which required 96 pounds of flour, 36 pounds of honey, 50 pounds of dark chocolate, and 100 pounds of icing. The carousel is also made up of 2008 pieces of gingerbread, one for every year. And since this is the ninth year that Beach Club has put up its holiday carousel, there are nine hidden Mickeys in the display. Each year, an additional one is added. See if you can spot them all!

Equally impressive as the carousel is the life-sized gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. This huge piece of sugary real estate draws visitors every year as soon as it opens during November. The holiday centerpiece of the lobby along with a large Christmas tree, the gingerbread house requires even more ingredients than the carousel: 600 pounds of powdered sugar, 800 pounds of flour, 700 pounds of chocolate, and a whopping 1,050 pounds of honey. This is the tenth year that the Grand Floridian has put up this special display, which fills the resort’s lobby with the scent of gingerbread.

What’s most incredible about the almost entirely edible gingerbread house is that it’s actually a gingerbread shop! Guests can actually go inside the house and purchase gingerbread and chocolate cookies, lollipops, gingerbread ornaments, chocolate Disney characters, and more. The Grand Floridian gingerbread house is open from 10 am to 10 pm.

Though it’s worth making a special trip to see the displays at the Grand Floridian and Beach Club resorts, each of the other Disney resorts is also featuring a special holiday display. At Disney’s Contemporary Resort, guests can see a gingerbread holiday village on the fourth floor. At Disney’s Polynesian Resort, the Ceremonial House features an exotic gingerbread village with volcanoes and edible palm trees. At Disney’s Boardwalk Resort, a 15-by-20-foot chocolate and gingerbread boardwalk display greets visitors with a five-foot-tall Ferris wheel and carousel. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, Boma-Flavors of Africa is featuring an entirely edible miniature African village. And at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, a miniature gingerbread train races around a sugar mountain village in the lobby.

If you’re hankering for something sweet on the eyes this holiday, be sure to stop at Disney Resorts to take in the phenomenal holiday displays and maybe even buy a gingerbread house of your own. Each resort features its own unique holiday decorations and is a great attraction to visit after a day at the Disney theme parks.
