Disney Gets into Christmas Spirit Early

Disney is going for a double-hitter this holiday season. Not only are they releasing The Princess and the Frog, they are also releasing their version of A Christmas Carol. Starring Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, and Colin Firth, the film was directed by award-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis. In order to promote the movie, Disney will be sending a custom-made vintage replica train around the nation to bring the Disney’s A Christmas Carol experience to 40 cities in 36 states.

This is a great activity for families of all ages and best of all it’s free! Everyone is going through tough times in this economy and this special Disney event is a great way to experience the Disney magic without having to fork over any cash. This train tour will be both a moving museum and theatre. Dolby will be providing Dolby Digital 3D Cinema for people that visit the touring exhibit to get an exclusive sneak peek at Disney’s A Christmas Carol on DP2000 digital projection. Along with getting the sneak preview of the movie, the exhibit will feature authentic artifacts from the Charles Dickens Museum of London. Artwork, props and costumes will be featured along with contests to win HP computers and wireless printers. As you explore the wonderful exhibit you will be surrounded by 'snow,' carolers and Christmas decorations. Dick Cook, the chairman of the Walt Disney Studios, thinks this is a great way to introduce families to the upcoming film.

"Disney's A Christmas Carol Train Tour is an incredibly fun way to introduce families across the country to the wonders and spectacle that is Robert Zemeckis' unique and spectacular new holiday film…From Los Angeles to New York, and all points in between, guests are going to have a fabulous time discovering things about the making of this extraordinary film, participating in their own festive fantasies, and getting into the holiday spirit all year round. Disney's A Christmas Carol is great entertainment for moviegoers of all ages, and this is the perfect introduction to a fun and exciting new holiday classic."

Along with The Princess and the Frog this is going to be a great movie year for Disney. We can’t wait to see both films.

Busch Gardens - 50 and Still Partying Into the Night

Believe it or not, it has been 50 years since Busch Gardens first opened as an admission-free hospitality center for the nearby Anheuser-Busch manufacturing plant. But you’d never know the park is half-a-century old from all the exciting attractions and shows it offers, from the exhilarating Sheikra to the side-splitting Critter Castaways. And in celebration of being fifty and still fabulous, the park will be partying all season long with Summer Nights at Busch Gardens, an opportunity for guests to enjoy special entertainment, festive food and drink, and extended nighttime hours.

Every night from June 6 through August 16, Busch Gardens will put on its dancing shoes and lead park guests in celebration – literally. An infectious dance choreographed especially for park guests will amp up the energy during summer nights, and DJs from four different spots throughout the park will spin party hits all night long.

Meanwhile, special entertainment and performers will kick off the festivities after dark, starting with Darren Romeo, presented by master magicians Siegfried and Roy. The voice of magic, Romeo returns to Busch Gardens with his captivating mix of magic and music in the Moroccan Palace. Following him is Jeff Civilico, who will present his amazing blend of comedy, juggling, balancing, athleticism, and audience participation in the Marrakesh Theater.

Summer Nights at Busch Gardens will start with a bang this Saturday, June 6, when a live concert featuring hits from the ‘50s, ‘60s, and 70’s performed by the original artists takes over Gwazi Park. The concert will be capped with a fireworks display lighting up the night sky.

Then, guests will want to come back on July 3, when the Independence Day festivities start early and David Cassidy performs live in concert. The next day, Starship featuring Mickey Thomas will rock the stages followed by another breathtaking fireworks spectacular.

Park hours during Summer Nights at Busch Gardens will be extended until 9 pm Sundays through Thursdays and until 10 pm Fridays and Saturdays, so it’s a great opportunity to ride your favorite coasters in the dark and pack in even more fun at a regular day at Busch Gardens. In addition, guests can check out the new exhibit honoring the park’s 50 years of fun; located near the Crown Colony House Restaurant and the Clydesdale Hamlet, it features hundreds of photos, souvenirs and artifacts from the park’s history on display, including a 70-foot timeline.

The best part of Summer Nights, however, is that it’s included with regular admission to Busch Gardens. So all you have to do is get your discount Busch Gardens tickets at OrlandoFunTickets.com and you’ll be all set to celebrate the park’s birthday and dance, ride, and party through the night this summer.

Animal Kingdom Leaps Forward with Froggy Fun

This weekend is the beginning of daylight saving time, which sadly means that most people will lose an hour of sleep when they set their clocks forward one hour on Sunday night. However, instead of mourning the loss of time, Walt Disney World is celebrating it with a series of whimsical activities for the whole family. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, guests can get a “leap” on the weekend’s time change with some frog-focused events that will remind them to set their clocks ahead.

On Thursday, March 5, the park kicked off their daylight saving time celebrations, which will continue through the weekend. Some of the activities include a frog-leap that challenges children to see if they can jump as far as frogs and a special frog-calling game where guests match the frog to the corresponding “ribbit.” Little ones can also don “frog-wear” with goggles to model amphibians’ transparent eyelids, along with mesh vests that represent permeable skin and special suction-cupped gloves to mimic froggy feat.

The events are part of Animal Kingdom’s efforts to promote conservation and raise awareness of the serious decline in amphibian populations. Some estimates suggest that as many as one-third of known amphibian species may be threatened by extinction because of loss of habitat, climate change, pollution, and disease.

So aside from providing a subtle clock change reminder, the program is also designed to engage guests in conservation efforts. Guests will be given tips on how they can help combat the dwindling numbers of amphibians in the world and create a frog-friendly environment in their own backyard. Some of the suggestions include building a pond with native shrubs, providing an overturned pot or small areas of leaf litter to benefit amphibians, and using fewer chemical pesticides to keep amphibians healthy.

Incidentally, at Animal Kingdom, which is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, members of the Animal Programs teams are studying the nutritional needs of the Puerto Rican Crested Toad, a species native to Puerto Rico where it is threatened by extinction. Hopefully, the teams will help conservationists determine alternate habitats where food is abundant for the toads. Researchers are studying the amphibian population in Orlando’s backyard as well, in Disney's Wildlife Management and Conservation Area.

To learn more about Animal Kingdom’s conservation efforts, guests can also stop by the Conservation Station at the Rafiki’s Planet Watch area of the park. There, animal handlers and exhibits offer a behind-the-scenes look at the day-to-day activities of the park, and guests can get more information on what they can do to help in the preservation and conservation battle.

There’s no extra cost to participate in the froggy fun this weekend; you only need a Walt Disney World ticket, which you can get at discount rates right here at OrlandoFunTickets.com. Don’t forget to stop by Animal Kingdom for an educational amphibian experience, and don’t forget to make your clocks leap forward on Sunday, March 8.

Walt Disney World Marathon Puts Runners to a Magical Test

Generally, when most visitors come to Walt Disney World, they like to take their time while they absorb all the sights and attractions. But from January 8th to January 11th, speed will be the order of the day when 45,000 runners whiz through Disney theme parks during the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. Presented by CIGNA, this annual event is one of the most popular tests of endurance in the US.

The Marathon, a 26.2-mile course, will take runners through all four Walt Disney World theme parks. Having been called the “26 Most Magical Miles on Earth,” the route starts at Magic Kingdom, then continues through Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and then finishes at Epcot. Runners will enjoy entertainment along the route in the form of characters and other surprises, and fireworks will provide an explosive start to the beginning of the marathon. Considered one of the most fun marathons to run in the country, the Marathon also provides runners with on course and post-race refreshments, commemorative t-shirts and goody bags, certificates, and the coveted Mickey Mouse medals.

In addition to the regular Marathon on Sunday, January 11th, five other events will be held during the weekend: the Walt Disney World Half Marathon, Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge, the Circle of Life 5k, Mickey’s Marathon Kids’ Fest, and Disney’s Health and Fitness Expo.

The Half Marathon on Saturday, January 10th, is a 13.1-mile course that extends from Epcot to Magic Kingdom and finishes back at Epcot. It’s a great way for less seasoned runners to enjoy the Marathon. The Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge, on the other hand, is the ultimate test of endurance; it includes the Half Marathon on Saturday and the full Marathon on Sunday. Those who finish both races within the time limit will be awarded the special Goofy medal. The Circle of Life 5k is on Friday, January 9th, and is a family race that adults, teenagers, and kids can all enjoy together. And just for the youngsters, Disney’s Kids Races includes a new Mickey Mile for ages 13 and under on Friday, a 400m dash for 7 and 8-year-olds, a 200m dash for 4 through 6-year-olds, a 100m dash for 1 through 3 year-olds, and the famous Diaper Dash for children 12 months and under. Disney’s Health and Fitness Expo will be a three-day fitness showcase going on throughout the Marathon Weekend at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. It will feature seminars, celebrity runner appearances, and the latest in running and fitness equipment.

Though all the Marathon events except the Mickey’s Marathon Kids’ Fest are sold out, spectators are welcome to watch the race, and family and friends can track participants online with Runner Tracking. Spectators can also sign up for the ChEAR Squad and receive a special spectator package, as well as the inside scoop on the best course viewing areas.

This year, all eyes are on Brazilian champion Adriano Bastos, a 30-year-old runner from Sao Paolo who has won the Walt Disney World Marathon five times, four of those wins occurring consecutively in the last four years. Also among the 45,000 participants is Saul Mendoza, a wheelchair racer honored as Mexico’s Athlete of the 20th Century. Mendoza will be vying for his 10th Disney championship.

It’s sure to be a fiery weekend on the Disney paths when the Walt Disney World Marathon takes over the parks. Whether you’re a running enthusiast or not, there’s sure to be plenty of fun and surprises that anyone will enjoy. Get your discount Disney tickets now at OrlandoFunTickets.com, and you can cash in on all the magical miles and smiles.

Baby Wallaby Hops into Cypress Gardens

Cypress Gardens is home to over 40 rides, a historical botanical garden, a water park, and animal exhibits featuring over 300 feathery, scaly, and furry friends such as alligators, birds, butterflies, and a jaguar. And now, it’s become the home of one new resident, an albino baby wallaby named Mahina. The park’s newest and cutest star, Mahina is now available for viewing at Cypress Gardens on Saturdays and Sundays at the Animal Trax Outpost Shop from 1:15 pm until 1:35 pm.

Guests can come and see the furry white wallaby and her keeper, take pictures with her, and even pet her (most likely on the tail area). For safety reasons, guests will not be able to hold her.

Mahina is the second albino wallaby born at Cypress Gardens. She emerged from her mother’s pouch on April 19th, a few months sooner than expected, and is still being raised by the animal care staff. Normally, joeys (baby wallabies) stay in their mother’s pouches for seven to eight months, but Mahina was only in her mother’s pouch for four months. Despite this, the Animal Care staff state that nothing is wrong with Mahina and that premature birth sometimes happens in nature with no clear explanation why.

Found primarily in Australia and neighboring islands, wallabies possess excellent hearing and sense of smell, though wallaby vision is thought to be quite poor. Though wallabies are typically small to medium-sized, the largest can reach 6 feet. Wallabies use their large, prominent tail for balance when hopping or grazing, and they survive on a diet of grass and the shoots of young plants. While albino wallabies like Mahina are fairly common in captivity, the odds of an albino being born in the wild are extremely rare – about 1 in 10,000.

All of the Orlando area had a chance to name newborn Mahina as part of a contest that ran from June 11th through June 30th. Over 400 entries were submitted; some of the names that were considered were Phoebe, Aurora, Mayhem, Aoraki (meaning cloud piercer), Paralla (Aborigine for “the moon”), Mindee, and Nola (meaning fair/white shoulder in Irish). However, the Marketing and Animal Care departments decided upon Mahina as the winning name, which was submitted by Carol Wolfe of Winter Garden. The name means “moon” in Hawaiian.

Be sure to head down to Cypress Garden to see this adorable addition to the park! Best yet, it won’t cost you too much – simply score your discount Cypress Garden tickets at OrlandoFunTickets.com to get in on all the hopping good fun.

See Angels Soar at Kennedy Space Center Space and Air Show

Just in time for the 50th birthday of NASA ,earlier this month, the Space and Air Show will be coming to Kennedy Space Center for the second time, hot on the heels of the Kennedy Space Center Fall Concert Series. On November 8th and 9th, aircraft of all shapes and sizes will take to the skies over the NASA Causeway. The show will begin at 12:30 pm and last until 4 pm, and it will feature precision pilots and veteran astronauts performing some of the most incredible aerial stunts to the delight of all.

Be sure to catch the Navy’s elite flight demonstration squadron the Blue Angels in action. They will undoubtedly be the stars of the show, as this will be the second time the Angels have ever performed at KSC, their last visit being over 30 years ago.

Other highlights of the show will include military aircraft demonstrations by the F-16 Fighting Falcon, a compact, extremely maneuverable multi-role fighter aircraft; the F/A-18 Super Hornet, the nation’s first true strike-fighter capable aircraft; and the A-10 Warthog, a single-seat, twin-engine jet aircraft designed exclusively for close air support. There’ll also be a 920th Rescue Wing water rescue demonstration, as well as performances by Mike Goulian, a racer in the Red Bull Air Race World Series, and the Air Force Reserve biplane show.

Getting to the show no later than 12 pm is strongly recommended in order to get through security and arrive at the air show site on time. The demonstrations will happen over the north side of the NASA causeway with the shuttle launch pads in the background. Since the causeway is not accessible to private vehicles, visitors will be transported to the viewing site by bus from the Visitors Complex (if you purchase regular KSC admission, transportation to the air show will cost an additional $15 per person). Visitors will catch all the in-air action from an open grassy field, so be sure to bring blankets and collapsible chairs for extra comfort. Beach umbrellas and coolers are not allowed, but food and souvenirs will be sold at the viewing site.

And when you’re not having fun watching the skies, there’ll also be aircraft displays and space-related exhibits along the air show viewing area. One of the exhibits includes NASA’s Exploration Experience Trailer featuring a virtual model of the moon.

Or, take a ride back to the Kennedy Space Center for the Astronaut Autograph & Memorabilia Show featuring astronauts from the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle programs. Visitors to the KSC will have the opportunity to meet and spend time with astronauts, be guided by an astronaut on a tour of exclusive KSC areas, view special exhibits available only that weekend, and acquire rare astronaut memorabilia at the 6th annual Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Auction. And at the end of the day, visitors can even have dinner and drinks with legendary astronauts at Cocoa Beach. Admission to the Astronaut Autograph Show is additional, and is available in multiple packages for prices ranging from $5 for admission to the show to $350 for the full VIP package.

And of course, you can take advantage of all the usual KSC exhibits, rides, and attractions if you haven’t had enough fun at the air show. So grab your discount Kennedy Space Center tickets here at OrlandoFunTickets.com, along with some seat cushions, and get ready for an air spectacular that will knock your socks off – and probably your hat, too.

Fall Concert Series at Kennedy Space Center

Kennedy Space Center is known for many things. It is the home of the NASA Space Shuttle program and one of the only places where humans have been launched into space. It is also the site of the Vehicle Assembly Building, the fourth largest building in the world by volume and the place where the space shuttle is assembled and stored. What Kennedy Space Center may not be known for, however, is music. But that is all about to change with the Fall Concert series at the KSC Visitor Complex, kicking off on October 18th in celebration of NASA’s 50th anniversary celebration. Three acts with hits from the 60's, 70's, and 80's are coming to the iconic Rocket Garden stage of Kennedy Space Center.

The live, festival-style, outdoor concert series will feature Survivor, performing on October 18th at 7 pm, The Guess Who, performing on October 25th at 5 pm, and Rick Springfield, performing on November 1st at 5 pm. Survivor is an iconic rock band known for their 80's smash hit “Eye of the Tiger.” Their hits have been featured in classic films such as Rocky III and The Karate Kid. The Guess Who is a superstar Canadian rock band known for hits such as “American Woman” and “These Eyes.” They released a DVD album in 2007, Shakin’ in Las Vegas, which featured four new songs. Rick Springfield is a Grammy award winner and 80's icon who is known for the #1 single “Jessie’s Girl” as well as his role as Dr. Noah Drake on ABC’s daytime soap General Hospital.

The Fall Concert Series is occurring this year for the 2nd time; musical acts Kansas, Josh Gracin, and Lou Gramm performed on the Rocket Garden stage last November. This year’s concert series comes at the end of NASA’s first half-century, which fell on Wednesday, October 1st. Also commemorating NASA’s birthday will be the Space and Air Show on November 8th and 9th, which will feature Blue Angels from the US Navy and other military aircraft.

Admission to any one of the fall concerts is included with regular admission to the Space Center Visitor Complex, and it’s free to Commander’s Club Annual Passholders. If you’re a regular visitor to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, there’s no reason not to plan a trip again to enjoy this one-of-a-kind concert series. And if you’ve never visited before, there’s certainly no time like the present – you can catch one of the concerts after taking advantage of the Space Center’s multiple attractions, such as the Apollo/Saturn V Center, the IMAX theaters, the guided tours into exclusive NASA areas, and the space flight simulators at the Astronaut Hall of Fame.

In order to rock to the sounds of the space exploration era, order your discount Kennedy Space Center tickets today at OrlandoFunTickets.com and get ready for a concert that’s out of this world!

How to Celebrate at Walt Disney World: A Disney Special Event

In the continuation of our How to Celebrate at Walt Disney World series, we are dishing out all the newest products, services, and programs at Walt Disney World for celebrating a special event in Disney style.

When it comes to a special achievement that needs to be commemorated in a special way, look no further – Walt Disney World has plenty of options available to celebrate a graduation, a job promotion, or any special event you can think of!

For graduates, Disney has got the perfect way to congratulate 8th graders and high school seniors for a job well done. 8th graders can commemorate the end of the year with the Disney 8th Grade Grad Jam, a celebration on May 1st, 2009 where graduates take over the Disney’s Hollywood Studios and enjoy rides and attractions such as the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, The Great Movie Ride, Star Tours, and Jim Henson’s Muppet Visions 3*D, as well as games, food, and music just for them.

Then, for the class of 2009’s older graduates, there’s Disney Grad Night, where seniors will experience red carpet treatment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios along with concerts by some of the hottest names in music, rides and attraction, games, dance parties, fireworks, and more. Hayden Panettiere will be hosting Grad Nite 2009, and a number of celebrities will be making appearances – some of the musical acts performing include Metro Station, Katy Perry, Lloyd, Mishon, Lesley Roy, Wynter, and more. Grad Night will be on April 17, 18, 24, and 25 in 2009.

Not celebrating a graduation? No problem. Whether you’re celebrating a new job, a baby on the way, or any kind of special award or achievement, Disney offers multiple entertainment and dinner packages that are perfect for a festive evening with friends. We especially recommend the Fantasmic Dinner Package, offered at select Walt Disney World restaurants on select nights, which includes dinner as you take in the fantastic fireworks and dancing water jets of Fantasmic. The International Dinner & IllumiNations Dessert Reception is also a great way to mark a special occasion – you and friends can taste cuisine from all over the world to international songs, dance, stories, and fireworks. And for something a little more adventurous, you can try the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, where you’ll dine on an all-you-can-eat South Seas banquet with friends among hula dancers and fire twirlers. Best yet, you can order a specialty celebration cake to enjoy on your celebratory evening.

But if you’re in the mood for a particular kind of party theme, Disney can make that happen for you as well. You can plan a custom event at one of the unique private dining park locations or resort catering venues, complete with a personalized dessert or celebratory wine. The Disney planners are extremely helpful in helping you plan the perfect celebration worthy of that special event in your life.

So whether it’s a birthday, an anniversary or wedding, or a celebratory feast – Disney has all the tools you need for a great soiree, or perhaps just a day of fun and entertainment at the parks. Even though you don’t need a special reason to enjoy some Disney magic, there’s no shame in making up one just to try some of these great new features and packages. We won’t tell!

Mickeys Pirate and Princess Party

The Walt Disney World Resort has many special events throughout the year that gives guests a reason to keep coming back to all four Disney theme parks. At the Magic Kingdom Park, many of those special events include after-hours parties, where the park actually shuts down early and then transforms into a special-ticket event complete with special activities, character appearances, parades and even a special fireworks presentation. One of these popular celebrations going on right now is Mickey’s Pirate and Princess Party, where, for one night, everyone in the Magic Kingdom can become a Disney princess or act like Captain Jack Sparrow or their favorite pirate!

While Mickey’s Pirate and Princess Party is a special-ticket event, meaning that you have to purchase an additional pass that is not included in any Walt Disney World ticket package, you are still going to need tickets to have access into all four Disney theme parks. Here at OrlandoFunTickets.com, we are your No. 1 online source for discounted tickets to all four Disney theme parks and two water parks, as well as the Universal Orlando Resort, Sea World Orlando, local dinner shows and other area attractions. On select days until June 4, 2008, guests will have 13 opportunities to attend Mickey’s Pirate and Princess Party. This five-hour party, which runs from 7 p.m. until midnight, includes a whole host of new activities designed to bring out your inner princess or pirate! In fact, there are certain princess festivities and pirate adventures being held around the park that are can’t-miss stops for each and every guest at this special event. The princess festivities include Disney princess meet-and-greets, where Cinderella, Jasmine, Aurora, Ariel, Snow White, Belle and more gather around the park to meet all of the future princesses in attendance. At Ariel’s Court in Fantasyland, you can also dive into Sebastian’s Under the Sea Dance Party, or train to be one of Aladdin’s Royal Guards at Princess Jasmine’s court! Finally, the Dream Along with Mickey show in front of Cinderella Castle holds nightly performances as well, where scores of Disney characters try to stop Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficent from turning dreams into nightmares!

If you are not in training to be a Disney princess, however, there are still plenty of activities for you as well with the many pirate adventures! Meet Captain Hook or Captain Jack Sparrow at pirate meet-and-greets, learn how to be a pirate at Captain Jack’s Pirate Tutorial or join Chip ‘n’ Dale and Lilo & Stich for Eclipse’s Dance Party at the Pirate Cove in Tomorrowland. There are also various pirate-themed entertainment stops around the park as well, such as a pirate band and even a breakdancing acrobatic troupe, the Extra Terrestrial Pirates!

In addition to these princess festivities and pirate adventures listed above, guests at Mickey’s Pirate and Princess Party will have access to many additional one-of-a-kind events, such as the Enchanted Adventures Parade and the Magic, Music & Mayhem Fireworks show, both of which were created for this special party. And, guests will also be able to enjoy many of their favorite attractions at the Magic Kingdom Park during this celebration, and with so much going on, expect the wait times to be much shorter than during the day! If all of the above sounds like a good time for you and your family of pirates and princesses, then make your way over to the Magic Kingdom Park this Spring for the party of a lifetime!
