Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba is a once-in-a-lifetime performance that would be a great addition to any Disney vacation. La Nouba is one of 15 Cirque shows that delights fans nightly all across the country with a new kind of entertainment that mixes the atmosphere of a circus with the art of story telling. While nine of the Cirque du Soleil shows are traveling performances, La Nouba is one of six resident shows, with an everyday home at the Walt Disney World Resort right in the heart of Central Florida. Additional resident shows include LOVE, KA, Mystere and “O” in Las Vegas and ZUMANITY, which is shown nightly in New York City.

La Nouba is derived from the French phrase “faire la nouba,” which means to party or to live it up. This show accomplishes just that with a mixture of two groups of characters, the lively Cirques (circus people) and the Urbains (urbanites), and as the two worlds clash together, the audience is kept in laughter and on the edge of their seat for the entire performance.

During Cirque du Soleil La Nouba, you can expect to be dazzled by several acts that are high in the sky, as high-flying trapeze artists and a 90-feet long high wire act that is suspended several stories above the stage will amaze you with their precision. Cyclists also entertain the crowd with BMX-worthy performances and tricks, while a balancing act that stacks and climbs on top of eight chairs and a table will leave you stunned.

But perhaps the most entertaining act, and always one of the biggest crowd-pleasers at the show, is the diabolos. Four pint-sized performers hold two sticks linked by a string in their hands, which is where the musical wooden spool, the diabolo, comes to life. For their entire act, the performers twirl, jump and fly through the air, even performing a human pyramid, all the while keeping their diabolos alive to the amazement of the crowd.

La Nouba performances are held at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. every Tuesday through Saturday, with no performances on Sundays and Mondays. Reservations for the show can be made up to six months in advance, but tickets for La Nouba are non-transferable. Ticket prices range from $ 63 plus tax for category 3 tickets ($ 50 for children ages 3-9) all the way to $ 112 plus tax ($ 90 for children) for front and center tickets. But no matter where you sit in the 1,700-seat theater, every seat is spectacular and you are sure to enjoy this one-of-a-kind performance!
