There are thousands of restaurants all over Central Florida, and many of those are located down in the attractions area of Orlando, which stretches from the Universal Orlando Resort down to the Walt Disney World Resort area. And while there are hundreds of restaurants alone on the property of Walt Disney World, there are many more just outside the doorsteps of Disney in nearby Kissimmee, Fla., on the Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, or Hwy 192.

Now that you have your Disney tickets in order, you can start to plan your restaurant options in the parks! But, as we mentioned above, with so many options – where do you begin? Each of the four Disney theme parks have multiple quick service and full service restaurants, and you also have character dining and dinner shows to choose from, just to name a few! And, of course, there are also restaurants at each of the Walt Disney World Resorts, with many luxury restaurants at the deluxe resorts such as Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and there are also options to choose from at Downtown Disney as well.
While the above options may seem like they are more than enough to choose from if you are vacationing at Walt Disney World, you need to also remember that there are many more options available to your family within just a few miles outside of the Disney property. Highway 192, also known as the Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, is full of restaurant options for your family, and no matter what you are looking for, this stretch of road has it! If you are in the mood for a steakhouse, you can try Logan’s Roadhouse, Longhorn Steakhouse or KOBE Japanese Steakhouse, among others. Highway 192 also has all of the staples in the restaurant industry (Chili’s, Cracker Barrel, Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, Ruby Tuesday’s to name a dew), multiple all-you-can-eat buffets (Golden Corral, Ponderosa) and many of your favorites, including three IHOPs and four Waffle Houses.
So if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, how do you decide whether to stay on property to eat or whether to venture off to Highway 192 in Kissmmee? A lot may have to do with the fact of whether or not you have a means on transportation, but what are the major differences in eating at Disney or outside? First of all, you will probably be able to stretch your dollar further on 192, although the level of service will obviously not be up to Disney’s standards. Another deciding factor may be wait times – if you would like to eat at Disney somewhere for a sit-down dinner, you will mostly like have to have a priority reservation (407-WDW-DINE), or else you can expect well over an hour wait at any of the restaurants, especially those inside the parks. It is also important to remember that eating at a Disney restaurant does require theme park admission, so if you are not planning on going into a park on a particular day, you will probably not want to use a day’s ticket just to go in to eat. In that case, you may be better off eating at one of the fine Disney establishments on your days in the parks and then save the many options on Highway 192 for your other vacation days.
But remember – for those days you plan on spending inside one of the four Disney parks or two water parks, OrlandoFunTickets.com has your discounted tickets! Click here now to see all of our discounted Disney tickets for yourself!
