Echo Lake/Hollywood Boulevard Quick Service Dining
Hollywood Boulevard is the hub of activity for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as this area of the park is lined with shops, restaurants and activities for guests who are either entering or exiting this exciting theme park. And while many of the full service options for guests reside here in this area, you can rest assured that those of you who are looking to save money on dining or who are just looking for a quick snack will have a full bevy of options right here as well!
The most obvious of the quick service locations on Hollywood Boulevard is Dinosaur Gerty’s Ice Cream of Distinction. As the name states, this quick service pavilion is actually in the shape of a dinosaur and sits on the left of Hollywood Boulevard on the edge of the Echo Lake area. This is a great stop during a hot afternoon, as this shop specializes in ice cream treats, frozen lemonade and cold beverages! For those cooler mornings, there is also a coffee stand as well just around the corner that offers an assortment of hot beverages that will wake you up and get you going for your day in the park.
Another hard-to-miss restaurant on the other side of Echo Lake is Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner. This mini steam boat that also sits along the edge of the water serves up a wide assortment of snacks that could make for a small meal, including stuffed pretzels, sandwiches, chips and beverages. Not too far from Min and Bill’s is Peevy’s Polar Pipeline, which sits just beside the entrance to the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! and features a menu of frozen slushies and smoothies.
While these first two restaurants stick out like a sore thumb, the Starring Rolls Café is much harder to find. Tucked away on the comer of Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard, this café is a popular place for breakfast in the park, as it offers a variety of pastries and hot drinks in the morning. But, by afternoon the menu transforms to include French or gourmet-style sandwiches. With its quaint atmosphere and small outdoor seating patio, this is one place you can go to get away from the madness in the park for a few minutes.
Finally, if you are in the mood to have a drink or even a complete meal, head to the Tune-In Lounge, which is the bar area of the 50’s Prime Time Café. You can order a drink from “Dad’s Liquor Cabinet” or sample something on the menu in this 50’s-inspired bar without the long wait that is associated with the tables in this popular establishment.
While all of the above quick service stops can provide you with an affordable meal or snack alternative, another thing to keep in mind when dining at any of these establishments is that many are participants in the Disney Dining Plan, which allows guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel to pay one price and enjoy one quick service meal, one full service meal and one snack per day for one low price. If you are planning on staying at one of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels, be sure to check out this plan (and the participating restaurants) to save your family extra money on your next Central Florida vacation!
