FASTPASS and the Universal Express Pass

There are many ways you can make the most of your time at either the Walt Disney World or Universal Resorts. Both theme park/entertainment complexes located right here in Central Florida have developed systems to ensure that your vacation time is optimized with as little wait times as possible and that every minute you spend inside one of their theme parks is efficient.

While Disney and Universal have been working for decades on helping you see more on vacation, we at Orlando Fun Tickets have also been keeping you in mind. At, you can purchase discounted theme park tickets to Disney, Universal and Sea World, as well as dinner shows and other local attractions. Before you keep reading about ways to save time in the parks, save yourself some money first by purchasing your theme parks tickets here at!

If you are planning on going to any of the four Disney theme parks, you will want to fully understand their FASTPASS system beforehand so that you can take advantage of this wonderful – and free – perk that is available to all guests who enter the turnstiles. A Disney FASTPASS allows you to get a ticket for a certain attraction, which will then designate you a certain time to come back and allow you to bypass the standby line and board usually within just a few minutes. The only catch to using a FASTPASS is that you can only get one at a time, and you cannot get another one until your time has bypassed on your current FASTPASS. For example, some of the bigger rides give out all of their FASTPASS tickets within a few hours of the park’s opening, but if you were to approach Space Mountain at 10 a.m. and the FASTPASS return time was 7 p.m., you should skip it and just wait for the standby line to go down at either a parade time or later in the day. This system was developed to help guests alleviate the wait on their in-demand rides, and if you use this system correctly, it can make selecting attractions for your family a whole lot easier.

The Universal Orlando Resort also has a similar system to Disney’s FASTPASS, but there is one major difference. While Disney gives anyone the opportunity to pick up a FASTPASS, Universal only offers its Universal Express Plus Passes (which gives guests an exclusive line to bypass waiting for attractions) for free as a benefit to anyone who is a guest at one of their three on-site hotels; the Hard Rock Hotel, Portofino Bat Hotel and the Royal Pacific Resort. Don’t fret if you are not staying at the Universal Orlando Resort – you too can purchase this pass as an add-on to your regular tickets for an extra fee.

As we mentioned earlier, both of these systems are an easy way to cut down your time spent in the parks waiting in long lines. While they do differ slightly – the FASTPASS assigns you a time to come back while the Universal Express Plus Pass just lets you immediately cut to the front of any line – they both have one thing in common, and that is saving you precious time with your family! And remember, before you even begin to plan your vacation to the Walt Disney World or Universal Resorts, be sure to check here first for optimal savings on your theme park tickets!
