Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney® West Side

The Walt Disney World® Resort may be known for the special events that take place in the four Walt Disney World® Resort Theme Parks every year, such as Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom® Park or Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™, but the Downtown Disney® Area has its own collection of special events as well, starting with the Festival of the Masters, a complimentary, nationally-recognized art festival that showcases work from more than 150 award-winning artists. Now in its 34th year of existence, the Festival of the Masters is continually mentioned among the country’s top outdoor festivals yearly and has displayed artwork to millions of guests since its inception at the Walt Disney World® Resort back in 1975.

The Festival of the Masters is much more than just an art festival, however, as there are events all throughout the Downtown Disney® Area, particularly the Downtown Disney® West Side. In addition to the photography, paintings, sculptures, jewelry and more on display from over 100 award-winning artists on the West Side, guests will find the 11th Annual “Where the Art Meets the Soul” festival outside of the House of Blues, which features live music, national folk artists and children’s activities. Outside of the DisneyQuest® Indoor Interactive Theme Park, animation artists teach guests how to draw their favorite Disney characters while families can cut a rug to the special DJ Dance Party, while Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba also gets into the act, as performers from the show greet guests and indulge in face painting and other activities, while other live performances are scheduled throughout the weekend as well.

The Festival of the Masters will be taking place this year from November 13-15, 2009 at Downtown Disney.
