The Walt Disney World Resort caters to families and large parties – therefore, it was only appropriate that Disney made a formal name for such groups. Now, if you and at least seven others (eight total) are planning on visiting the Walt Disney World Resort and are going to be staying at select Disney hotels, you will qualify as a Disney Grand Gathering. As part of a Disney Grand Gathering, you will receive special benefits, discounts and experiences that have been created especially for large groups.
Whether you are planning on visiting with a small group or as a member of a Grand Gathering, you are going to need tickets to the theme parks at Walt Disney World to fully enjoy your time down here in Central Florida. The International Dinner & Illuminations Dessert Reception is a good choice for your Grand Gathering if you plan on eating dinner at Epcot and watching the Illuminations: Reflections of Earth nighttime spectacular afterwards. Located at Epcot’s Odyssey Restaurant, your Grand Gathering will feast on cuisine from five different countries around the World Showcase while being entertained by storytelling and live music. After the dinner, your group is then escorted to a private viewing area for Illuminations, where a delicious dessert buffet is served just in time for the show.
Another dinner option for your Grand Gathering is the Safari Celebration Dinner. This unique experience begins with an end-of-the-day trip through the Kilimanjaro Safaris with a personal tour guide. Following the safari, your group will then head to a family-style, African-infused dinner at the Tusker House Restaurant, where you are greeted by a few Disney characters who have dropped by for the occasion!
Another Grand Gathering meal that features appearances by a few of those loveable Disney characters is a Good Morning Gathering at the Magic Kingdom Park. Tony’s Town Square Restaurant offers an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet for your Grand Gathering party, while Mickey and friends entertain everyone in attendance! Following this experience, your Grand Gathering will then have preferred entry to Mickey’s PhilharMagic 3-D attraction in the park to kick-start your day at the Magic Kingdom!
Finally, one of the grandest ways to end one of the days of your Disney Grand Gathering vacation is a Magical Fireworks Voyage. This Grand Gathering event takes place on the Seven Seas Lagoon in front of the Magic Kingdom Park. Your voyage begins with a visit from Captain Hook and Mr. Smee, who are happy to pose for pictures and sign autographs while you enjoy snacks such as cookies and cotton candy in a private reception room. Once you are out on the water, your captain and host for the evening will have you singing along to Disney classics and will challenge you to Disney trivia before you drop anchor for a perfect view of the Wishes fireworks nighttime spectacular. Once you return to dry land, you just might even get a visit from Peter Pan himself!
While all of these Grand Gathering experiences are once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, it is important to remember that any Grand Gathering experience in a park does require theme park admission.
