Holidays at the Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island

The Walt Disney World® Theme Parks at the Walt Disney World® Resort are slammed on all major holidays with guests that travel all around the world for some of that Disney magic on these once-a-year days. But a nice alternative to hitting up a theme park and waiting is long lines on a holiday is to spend some time at the Downtown Disney® Area, where special activities await guests who to choose to spend their time there.

One of the busiest days of the year for the Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island is New Year’s Eve. While shopping hours in all areas of Downtown Disney® are extended through midnight, Pleasure Island has its own form of live entertainment with a DJ that keeps music flowing until the early hours of the morning. On the new Waterside Stage in front of the World of Disney® Store in the Downtown Disney® Marketplace, a DJ Kids Dance Party takes place, while live bands and entertainment can also be found in front of Fulton’s Crab House and Wetzel’s Pretzels on the Downtown Disney® West Side.

While you can find special things going on inside the parks on any given holiday, Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island is the hub of activities on and around St. Patrick’s Day. For several days surrounding the holiday, this area hosts a special St. Patrick’s Day extravaganza from 7 pm - 2 am each evening with live music, stilt walkers, leprechauns and more roaming around Downtown Disney® Pleasure Island. In addition to the activities outside, the Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant also hosts their biggest and best holiday bash ever! Past entertainment on St. Patrick’s Day have included the U2 tribute band ‘U2 Elevation,’ while other live bands entertain with sets throughout the day and other friendly competitions and giveaways make this a unique place to spend St. Patrick’s Day!
