How to make the most of Extra Magic Morning Hours
Walt Disney World Resort guests who are staying on property have a ton of extra perks available to them, including free package delivery to their resort room, free transportation to all of the parks and Downtown Disney and even the ability to charge purchases in the parks directly to their room bill. But perhaps the biggest perk for all Walt Disney World Resort guests (this also includes the Swan and Dolphin Resorts, the Shades of Green Resort and the Downtown Disney Hilton) is Extra Magic Hours. Extra Magic Hours allow only those guests staying on Walt Disney World property, in addition to the resorts listed above, to enjoy the Disney parks for either an extra hour in the morning before the parks open or three extra hours after the park closes to the general public. Select major attractions and dining establishments are open just for these special guests, providing them an extra opportunity to experience the magic of Disney. Before you set out to take advantage of this wonderful benefit available to you as a guest at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, we would like to offer you a few tips to ensure that you make the most of your morning Extra Magic Hour. First of all, it is important to know what parks are hosting Extra Magic Hours each morning (your hotel will have this information handy for you). This can help you plan out your days, because whatever park has the Extra Magic Hour in the morning will probably be a lot busier that day than usual, or at least into the early afternoon due to all of the extra resort guests. It may be a good idea to use the Extra Magic Hour and then perhaps stay another hour or so until the general public crowd starts to really filter in and then head somewhere else, knowing that you have already hit the major attractions at the Extra Magic Hour park. This, of course, brings up another good point: the morning Extra Magic Hour is not worth it unless you actually USE the whole hour! If you arrive at the park about 15 minutes or so before the general public are allowed admission, you will accomplish little to nothing and will probably end up fighting all of the crowds and a lot of traffic as you try to make your way into the designated park. To take full advantage of this benefit, you will need to arrive on time for this Extra Magic Hour (or even a little early), plan out which attractions you would like to hit beforehand, and then make a beeline for them! The beauty of a morning Extra Magic Hour is that less people are likely to come than to the evening Extra Magic Hours, because they usually begin at 8 a.m. But, with that said, if you want to avoid long lines and are interested in getting the main attractions out of the way first thing, then the morning Extra Magic Hour is just what the doctor ordered! On the flip side, however, with limited attractions open, it might also be a waste of time if you are not fully set on coming in to take advantage of these short standby wait times. It is also important to note that each guest in the party needs to bring their Key to the World card with them (proving that they are staying at a Disney resort) for the morning and evening Extra Magic Hours, and valid theme park admission is also required to enjoy this perk – merely staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel will not get you in. In addition, it is a good idea to add the park hopper option onto your Disney tickets, because a Magic Your Way Base Ticket will only allow you to visit one theme park per day. For example, if Epcot was hosting a morning Extra Magic Hour, a base ticket would then only allow you to stay in that one park for the whole day. To make the most out of your visit to Walt Disney World, and to ensure that you can visit as many parks each day that you would like, we would like to highly suggest adding the park hopper option onto your Disney ticket package.
