Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney®

The Rainforest Café has two locations at the Walt Disney World® Resort – at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park and at the Downtown Disney® Marketplace. While the restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park is a natural fit because of its theme, the Rainforest Café location in the Downtown Disney® Area is just as successful and popular. Since this restaurant is “a wild place to shop and eat,” the Rainforest Café blends in perfectly with the stores and restaurants surrounding it in the Marketplace.

Guests entering the Downtown Disney® Marketplace will have a hard time missing this distinct restaurant, mostly due to the fact that it is shaped like a giant volcano towards the back of the shopping area. In fact, many families make a beeline for this establishment, making it one of the most popular restaurants at the  Downtown Disney® Area, and thus, making it one of the longest waits for a table as well. If you want to bypass the lines, you do have a couple options however. The bar area is open for guests, and if there are seats here, particularly at the bar, guests are more than welcome to dine there. And, if you go around to the side of the restaurant (towards the lake), you will also notice a special outdoor seating area that is situated on a dock right over the water. This area actually has its very own waiting list and is usually much faster than adding your name to get a table inside. Both of these dining options do make you miss out on the ambiance of the restaurant (which we will get to in a second), but they still do offer the same great food and staff.

While sitting at the bar or on the outdoor patio will get you in and out quicker, if you do decide to wait for a table inside, you are in for a special treat! What makes the Rainforest Café so special is that the décor is themed just like a rainforest, complete with a jungle-like motif, wild animals hanging from the ceiling and around every corner, a large saltwater fish tank - and yes, even thunderstorms that move through the area (don’t worry though, you won’t get wet!). Kids especially love the ambiance of the restaurant, but adults find another reason to appreciate it – the menu! Everyone in your family is sure to find something appetizing, as the menu features everything from burgers to chicken, salads, pastas, seafood and more. And, no trip to the Rainforest Café would be complete without their iconic VOLCANO for dessert.
