But before we get into some cheap and economical things to do in Orlando, here are some great money-saving tips for your vacation:

If you are staying at the Walt Disney World Resort, save money on a rental car and take advantage of Disney’s Magical Express, which is complimentary transportation to and from the Orlando International Airport. With complimentary transportation to all of the parks as well, you can save precious dollars on a car and in gas money!

The Disney Dining Plan is a great way to save up to 40 percent on meals at Walt Disney World. If you are staying there, be sure to look into this dining package and save your family money on dining – which can be the most expensive part of the trip!

Look into a timeshare or a suite with a kitchen and refrigerator. This way, you can go grocery shopping the first day of your vacation and can save tons of money on eating out!

Go off property for lunches and dinners. If you have a rental car, no matter what park you are at, you can save money if you eat any of your meals away from the parks. It may not make sense to leave in the middle of your day to eat lunch off property, but maybe try to wrap up your day a little earlier so you can eat dinner at a more economical restaurant outside of the parks.

And, as promised, here are five very cheap things to do in Orlando – things that won’t break the bank but you will still have a ton of fun doing.

Go to the beach! Take a day and drive over to the Florida coast. Besides the cost of gas (and the toll roads perhaps), this is a cheap way to enjoy Mother Nature at its finest. And, since the beaches are only an hour away in both directions, you won’t have to spend all day getting there! Pack a lunch and some drinks in a cooler with ice to take your dollars even further.

If you are staying at a Disney resort, you can resort and pool hop! Each of the resorts are distinctly different, and all of the pools are as well. While some pools (i.e. the Yacht and Beach Club) are for their resort guests only, most can be enjoyed by anyone, so hop on over and take a tour of some of the finest resorts around!

Disney also offers some great places to walk around and spend a day – or evening. Disney’s BoardWalk and Downtown Disney are two great places that are perfect for an evening stroll. Both are free to walk around, and while there are many shops and restaurants around, you don’t have to spend any money if you don’t want to! For a cheap way to please the family at the BoardWalk, rent one of the family surrey bicycles and take the family around the BoardWalk in style! If you are at Downtown Disney, a cheap entertainment activity may be to rent a boat at the marina and take the family out on the lake for some peace and relaxation.

Take a drive through Orlando. Most people on their visits do not venture out of the attractions area, but Orlando is a beautiful place to drive through. Take the car out for a spin through downtown Orlando, including Winter Park and College Park. You will see a whole new side of Orlando on that side of town – plus, you will come across many museums and local shops and restaurants on your way!

There are plenty of attractions in Orlando that are still economical. Gatorland, the Kennedy Space Center, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not on International Drive-these are just a few things that are fun and will not break the bank. Plus, Orlando is full of miniature golf attractions, movie theaters and shopping malls/outlets that can fill up any afternoon or evening.
