Top Disney Resort Pools

The Walt Disney World Resort does such a great job at creating everything with a theme, from the parks themselves to the resorts on property and yes, even the pools at each of these magnificent hotels. While the Disney hotels may be attractions in and of themselves, as every family with children knows, a pool can make or break a vacation, providing you much-needed entertainment away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby theme parks. Disney surely took this into account when designing the feature pools at each of the resorts (many of the resorts have multiple smaller “quiet” pools and one large focal point pool), as they often feature unique designs and slides that are fun for kids of all ages (yes, that includes you, parents!).
With so many resorts, and pools, to choose from, it is hard to narrow down which are the best. But after much consideration, here is a look at the top resort pools at the Walt Disney World Resort, from which pools have the best slides to which pools are simply the best all around!

Top slides
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort has a great slide for family fun, as it is located in the midst of a 46-foot Mayan pyramid at one of the most picturesque pools at any of the Walt Disney World Resort pools. Disney’s Polynesian Resort also has a winding, twisting slide as well, but this one is in the middle of a volcano that sits to the side of the zero-entry pool right outside the hotel’s main lobby. The volcano may not look like it can house a slide, but it is actually a lot longer than it looks and is fun for kids of any age (you will even find many adults going down it as well!). Of course, we can’t talk about slides without talking about the pirate ship slide at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. Keep reading below to find out more about this one-of-a-kind slide!

Best relaxation pools
Disney’s Polynesian Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge are great for pools for adults for many reasons. Most namingly, all three have zero entry depths and spectacular views. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa’ s feature pool has a 27-foot tall stone mountain with a waterfall that cascades down into the pool, while cabanas and hammocks are perched on the beach nearby. More of the same can be found next door at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, as a volcano sets the stage for the waterfall and Cinderella Castle in the distance makes for the perfect backdrop for an afternoon daydream. Meanwhile, over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, this large 9,000 square foot pool actually has views of the savannah where many of the wild animals from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park graze during the day and at night.

Best pool for children
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn has a feature pool, tabbed Luna Park, that actually looks like a miniature carnival – with lots of water of course! Luna Park even has a 200-foot long Keister Coaster water slide that looks like an old-fashioned wooden roller coaster! Kids go crazy over this pool, just as they enjoy the pools at Disney’s Pop Century Resort or any of the three All-Star Resorts. What is not to like about a pool that is shaped like a guitar and a pool surrounded by flowers that squirt out water at your children?

Best pool
The No. 1 pool on property is located at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort. This 2 ½ acre water play area is named Stormalong Bay and features a life-size ship with an accompanying slide, a sandy lagoon and three connecting pools that hold almost 800,00 gallons of water and would be a mile long if stretched out. The pirate-looking ship sits on the opposite side of a large sidewalk from the pool, meaning that the slide actually goes overtop of guests walking below and winds more than 150 feet before coming to an end in the adjacent pool. Stormalong Bay also features a smaller slide for youngsters, a sand beach that is great for building sandcastles and a section of the pool also has a sand bottom.

While all of the above pools are exceptional additions to your entertainment while on vacation, let us warn you now – your children may not even want to go into the theme parks once they experience them!
