Theme Park News

Animal Kingdom anniversaryWalt Disney World’s ® Animal Kingdom ® will celebrate its 14th birthday on Sunday, April 22. In honor of Disney’s ® latest theme park, Orlando Fun Tickets have made a list of the top rides and attractions you must try on your next visit. Come celebrate with Animal Kingdom ® on one or all of the following rides:

Festival of the Lion King – Just like the hit animated Disney ® film it’s based after, this spectacular musical will take you on a journey through the pride land in a way you’ve never imagined. Combining the classic music and favorite characters from the hit animated film, including Timon, Simba, Pumbaa, Rafiki, Zazu, Mufasa and more re-created in the form of giant puppets, as well as high-energy dances with a traveling band of “African tribal performers,” Festival of the Lion King is a must see! Here’s a tip.  Plan your day around the show time you are interested in viewing; it makes things easier. Also, plan to see Finding Nemo, The Musical.

Kilimanjaro Safaris – Perhaps the biggest attraction at Animal Kingdom ®, Kilimanjaro Safaris takes riders on a safari through a 100-acre “Harambe Reserve” in the remotest regions of Africa for up-close-and-personal views of some of the Earth’s most incredible animals including lions, rhinos, zebras and giraffes. For an even wilder experience, strap on some safari gear (provided by Disney) and explore the “Harambe Reserve” on foot with the Wild Africa Trek.

Expedition Everest – Arguably the best roller coaster in all of Disney ®, Expedition Everest takes guests up the most famous mountain in the world only to be chased back down it by the legendary Yeti. Along the way you’ll experience sudden and complete darkness before hairpin turns hurl you forward and down unexpected 80-foot drops that’ll have you screaming for more!

Tree of Life – The icon of Animal Kingdom ®, this 145-foot-tall artificial tree sculpted with 325 animal carvings may not be a high-speed roller coaster or vibrant musical but it certainly doesn’t lack in majesty.

It’s Tough to Be a Bug – You almost can’t come to a Disney ® theme park and not experience a 3-D show. It’s Tough to Be a Bug has all of the elements of a great 3D movie – including the animated characters Flick, Hopper and Princess Atta from Disney’s ® 1998 animated film, A Bug’s Life.

Dinosaur – Travel back 65 million years ago to the Cretaceous period and come face to face with prehistoric creatures, some of which are none to happy to see you. This combo thrill/dark ride will make you feel like you’re right in the middle of a scene in Jurassic Park!

Kali River Rapids – Take a white water adventure down the turbulent rapids of the Chakranadi River and experience a soaked-to-the-bone thrill ride that fits in perfectly with Animal Kingdom’s ® rain forest surroundings.

Try one or try them all, but whatever you do don’t forget to wish Animal Kingdom ® a Happy Birthday this weekend!
