Disney/Pixar’s new film “Brave” has been in theaters now for two weeks, and already the epic adventure of Scottish princess Merida is captivating audiences and the box office. To celebrate the film’s success and get park goers interested in the movies, Walt Disney World ® is now offering plenty of “Brave” fun throughout its parks including meet-and-greets with the Scottish princess herself!
Whether you’ve seen “Brave” or just seen an advertisement for the new movie, it’s not hard to mistake the film’s main character. With her fiery red hair, glowing green eyes and shimmering green dress, Merida is one of the most recognized princesses at Disney ®. And you certainly won’t be able to miss her at her new home at Fairytale Garden in Magic Kingdom ® where she and the three mischievous bear cubs all await adoring fans.
The new meet-and-greet experience is actually a play-and-greet experience with interactive games including archery lessons where guests will learn how to shoot a bow and arrow as well as coloring and the usual meet-and-greet fun like photo opportunities with Merida.
Your “Brave” experience begins as you enter the Fairytale Garden on the border between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. As bagpipe music plays in the background, you’ll choose between two lines, one that’ll take you to meet Disney’s ® newest princess and the three bears and the other that’ll pass around a large table for coloring, followed by an archery lesson taught by kilt-wearing Walt Disney World ® cast members.
If you choose the meet-and-greet side, you’ll pass by artwork, tapestries and artifacts, all of which complement the new “Brave” movie. With a slight Scottish accent, eye-popping red hair, and a shimmering green dress, Merida awaits her fans with a smile and her bow and arrow on her back! Standing behind the princess are the three animated bear cubs that show off some of their moves like smiling for the camera, turning their heads, blinking and even laughing.
Regardless of which line you chose, all Merida meet-and-greet guests will have the opportunity to color a picture of Merida riding her horse and take a try at the princess’ best skill – archery by using a soft, padded arrow to try and get a bull's-eye as a Disney ® cast member helps you guide your arrow into the large target. If you’re kids found their new skill, there is a merchandise cart outside of Fairytale Garden that sells bow-and-arrow sets and other “Brave” merchandise.
