Food for Thought

There is much anticipation swirling around the new Harry Potter addition Diagon Alley at Universal Studios that is expected to open sometime this summer. From the new Hogwarts Express train that will take guests to and from Universal Studios and Islands Adventure to the new thrill attraction Gringotts Bank ride there is much to be excited about but there is one area of the new Diagon Alley that we don’t know much about – its food.

Back in February, the head of public relations at Universal Orlando Resort, Tom Schroder leaked some food photos that were suspected to be available at the new Diagon Alley when it opens this summer. The photo included traditional British dishes like fish n’ chips, bangers and mash (sausages and mashed potatoes), Scotch eggs and cheese, a pie, and what looked like a Toad in a Hole (sausages baked into a Yorkshire pudding).

The photos were no doubt items from the new Leaky Cauldron restaurant that will open when Diagon Alley does but the photo didn’t reveal the items or confirm it is the food that will be available at the Leaky Cauldron. The photo also wasn’t the only food photo that was “leaked.” In addition to the British fare, Schroder also tweeted a picture of dessert saying, “And dessert! Just some of the special items we’ve created.” The photo included chocolate potted cream, apple red currant tarts and a variety of cookies.

But that’s not all! Tom got back on Twitter for a third time to spill even more dessert secrets including this piece of information, “Did someone say ice cream? Our culinary team has created special flavors just for Diagon Alley. Brilliant!”

We can only assume that the newly created flavors will be available at Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor.

As of right now no real Leaky Cauldron or Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlor menu has been revealed but we’re sure that as we get closer to Diagon Alley’s opening date we’ll know more.

Stay tuned for more details on Diagon Alley and its food! In the meantime you can check out the progress of the area with discounted tickets right here on Orlando Fun Tickets.
