Food for Thought

Be Our GuestAs the Fantasyland expansion at Magic Kingdom ® slowly comes to a close and rides, shows, attractions and restaurants begin to open, children are sure to love the extra magic Walt Disney World ® has poured into the new area. From the Enchanted Forest to Storybook Circus and everything in between, there is plenty of new fun to take in, including some new menu options that will make kids feel like adults!

Just like the rest of Fantasyland, the Be Our Guest Restaurant in the “Beauty and the Beast” area of Fantasyland is offering unique food options that let kids enjoy adult meals with the same kid-friendly tastes. And each meal is jam-packed with plenty of vegetables and whole grains to keep mom, dad and child happy!

For lunch, kids will be able to enjoy carved turkey sandwiches on multi-grain bread with sweet potato wedges instead of fries and peach applesauce. There is also roasted pulled pork with sautéed green beans and sweet potato mash. If your children love macaroni and cheese, fear not, there is whole grain macaroni with marinara and mozzarella option that is sure to make your kids smile. And for the fearless kids who eat anything, they must try the mild flavored mahi-mahi served with a “salad” of broccoli, cucumber sticks and grape tomatoes and peach applesauce.

The dinner menu includes a child-sized grilled steak with fresh vegetables, grilled fish of the day with whole-grain rice pilaf and fresh vegetables, a grilled chicken breast with macaroni topped with marinara and mozzarella with fresh vegetables and the turkey meatloaf shaped like Mickey Mouse with whole-grain macaroni with marinara and mozzarella.

Each kid meal also comes with 1 percent milk, bottled water or 10 percent apple juice. And the adult tastes don’t stop at dessert either. Kids will also be able to indulge in either a fancy cupcake or cream puff.

Be Our Guest Restaurant will no doubt drop guests right into scenes from Disney’s ® animated film “Beauty and the Beast.” With a gorgeous Ballroom with 20-foot high ceilings, elegant chandeliers, a wall of 18-foot-tall windows that overlook the French countryside and servers dressed in a style inspired by European fashions from the 1400s to the 1600s the restaurant continues the story of love that unfolded between Belle and the Beast.

Be Our Guest Restaurant is expected to open mid-November.
