Inside the Ride

It’s easily one of the coolest attractions at Walt Disney World ®. Jedi Training Academy at Disney’s Hollywood Studios ® lets children age 4 to 12 live out their fantasy of becoming a Jedi Knight and defeating an evil Sith Lord. And they get to do it in a live stage show in front of their friends and family.

It all starts the minute you enter the park when it is advised that you head straight to the ABC Sound Studio to sign up for the experience. Jedi Training Academy usually fills up fast so make sure you get your child’s name on the list as soon as possible. Padawans wanting to face off with Darth Vader will need to stay in the far right line when signing up. Once you’ve signed up you’ll be asked to come back about 15 to 30 minutes prior to the show starting.

After arriving back at the stage in your allocated time, you’ll be entertained with Star Wars music and Star Wars trivia. Then a robed and hooded figure appears on the stage and throws back his hood to reveal that he is the Jedi Master. The Jedi Master introduces himself by performing a short light saber routine before announcing that he is looking for those strong in the Force to become Padawans.

The Jedi Master then invites the children who have signed up for the experience to swear the “Jedi Oath.” The kiddos are then given a robe and light saber and are taken to the stage where the Jedi Master teaches each a short but detailed light saber routine they will be able to use later to defeat the dark side of the Force. Just before the children are set to use what they’ve learned on the Jedi Master, he senses a disturbance in the Force, and takes all of the children to the side of the stage for safety. Two stormtroopers run onto the stage followed by Darth Vader and Darth Maul.

The Sith Warriors inform the Jedi Master that they are there to turn the children to the Dark Side. The Jedi Master tells them that he will never do it, especially since they are outnumbered. The children are then divided into two and either face Darth Vader, Darth Maul or Asajj Ventress, Dooku’s apprentice from the Star Wars Clone Wars animated series.

After each child gets a turn to use his or her Jedi tricks the characters are finally forced to admit defeat and exit the stage menacingly. The kids are then proclaimed to be Padawans, and after turning in their robes and light sabers are given a certificate for their hard work.
