When it has lights, motor and action in its title you know it’s going to be one explosive experience. And that’s exactly what you’ll experience at the Lights, Motor, Action Show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios ®.
If you’ve ever wondered how movie crews do those high-speed chases and intense explosions than you need to check out the Lights, Motor, Action Show! This fast-paced production takes guests behind the scenes of big-budget movies to spotlight the high-octane best of the movie industry's stunt masters. During this intense show you’ll experience precision driving, edge-of-your-seat jumps, pyrotechnics, high-speed spins plenty of surprises and explosions you only ever see on the big screen.
Using a Tinseltown trick known as shooting “out-of-sequence,” the director of the show sets up different stunts. After each scene is filmed, the director than combines the shots to create the completed scene that is then played on a giant video screen for the audience to see.
The extravaganza sends cars, motorcycles, watercraft and a cast of more than 50 careening and jumping across one of Walt Disney World’s ® largest venues - a 177,000-square-foot outdoor stunt arena themed after a Mediterranean village movie set. As you watch the incredible “spy thriller” unfold before your very eyes and learn about filmmaking secrets you may even be called to participate in the fun by professional drivers, stunt managers, production crew, directors and director’s assistants.
One of the behind-the-scenes features you may learn about while on set is that the cars used in this incredible stunt show are modified high-performance Opel Autos. They are propelled by 1,300 cc, 150-horsepower motorcycle engines with 4 forward gears and 4 reverse gears. Each car also weighs less than half as much as a standard production car.
And to make the behind-the-scenes stunt show even more memorable Lightning McQueen, Mater and friends from the Disney/Pixar film Cars show up to do their own high-flying stunts. During their bit Mater warns McQueen of an enemy spy tracking him on the set. What ensues is a wild chase just as spectacular as the other stunts in Lights, Motor, Action.
