The Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre in Orlando, Fla. has been home to some of the top touring Broadway acts for years. But as Broadway Across America prepares to move into its new home of the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center next season, many top shows will be making their rounds in Central Florida for the final time in this facility, including upcoming shows War Horse, Jersey Boys and Ghost.

War Horse was the 2011 Tony Winner for Best Play. Based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo, War Horse tells the story of a young boy, Albert, and his beloved horse Joey. Set in England in 1914, this five-time Tony-winning musical is a tale of friendship, loyalty and courage as Albert enlists in the army to find Joey, who has been sold into cavalry to raise money for Albert’s struggling family. Albert is determined to find Joey and bring him home, and this play captures the remarkable story of Albert’s journey of faith and hope in the face of adversity. War Horse uses life-sized puppets created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company and is suitable to theatregoers ages 10+. The national tour of War Horse will be in Orlando for a short time, Feb. 25-Mar. 2.

Jersey Boys will be hitting the stage at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre April 15-27 and bringing to life all of the top hits from famed pop group Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. This 2006 Tony Award-winning show for Best Musical follows the story of four blue-collar guys from Jersey - Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi – and their incredible rise to fame. Along with belting out some of the group’s greatest hits, including “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Sherry” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” fans are treated to a behind-the-scenes true story about the highs and lows of fame as you follow the group from the streets to enshrinement into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Even those who weren’t around when Valli and the Four Seasons romanced their way through the 1960s will be pleasantly surprised at just how many tracks you can sing along with.

Ghost The Musical hits the Central Florida theatre scene May 13-18. Based on the Oscar-winning movie of the same name, Ghost follows a young couple, Sam and Molly, whose love takes an unexpected turn when Sam unexpectedly passes away. After learning that Molly is in danger, Sam turns to a psychic to communicate with Molly and avenge his death. With astonishing special effects and an original pop score from Grammy Award-winners Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard, Ghost is an unconventional love story that transports its viewers into a thrilling adventure in the afterlife.

The 2013-14 Broadway Across America season is coming to a close, so don’t miss out on these opportunities to see some of the best theatrical performances this spring right here in Central Florida!
