It was just one week ago when Disney CEO and chairman Bob Iger told shareholders that Star Wars: Episode VII would take place 30 years after Return of the Jedi. The news was just one more piece of info that has slowly been revealed to the public about the super secretive project, which is supposed to start production in May.

In anticipation of the movie, which isn’t supposed to be released until December of 2015 Star Wars fans are looking for something to satisfy their out-of-this-world needs and get them ready for the new film. Luckily Orlando offers plenty of Star Wars-themed rides, event and attractions. Here are the most popular:

Your favorite Star Wars scene is recreated in LEGO’s at LEGO Star Wars Miniland in LEGOLAND Florida. 1.5 million LEGO bricks have been used to create seven of the most famous Star Wars scenes including Episode I: Naboo, Episode II: Geonosis, Episode III: Kashyyk and Mustafar, Episode IV: Tatooine, Episode V: Hoth, Episode VI: Endor and even a scene from the animated TV series The Clone Wars. To further immerse guests into the Star Wars saga, LEGOLAND Florida’s LEGO Star Wars Miniland includes LEGO models of Darth Maul, R2-D2 and Darth Vader.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios ® takes you to a galaxy far, far away on a daily basis with the ride Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. This 3D motion-simulated space flight launches guests into the world of Star Wars, making stops at Tatooine, Naboo and Hoth. Along the way you’ll meet and interact with many of the other-worldy characters in the film series including Darth Vader, Princess Leia, R2-D2, C3PO and many more.

But perhaps your biggest Star Wars adventure at Disney’s Hollywood Studios ® comes every May with the annual Star Wars Weekends. The force is with you each weekend during this intergalactic event, which begins May 16 this year with Star Wars celebrities, characters, entertainment including the popular Jedi training Academy, merchandise and much more. Stay tuned for more details on Star Wars weekends.

There is also rumors that a Star Wars Land is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios ® in the very near future. In fact, in an interview last year, Iger confirmed the rumors, albeit vaguely saying, “"The only thing I can share, which actually I don't think we've talked about much, is there is a fair amount of development going on at Disney Imagineering right now to expand the 'Star Wars' presence in California and in Orlando and eventually in other parks around the world."

We hope to hear more on Star Wars Land soon. In the meantime you can get your fill of Star Wars with discounted LEGOLAND Florida and Walt Disney World ® tickets right here on Orlando Fun Tickets.
