Minion Mayhem Debuts at Universal OrlandoOn Monday, July 2, Universal Orlando will finally debut their highly anticipated new ride Despicable Me Minion Mayhem. Based off the hit Universal film Despicable Me, the new attraction combines the antics and humor of the super villain turned adoring dad Gru; his three adopted daughters Margo, Edith, Agnes and an army of mischievous minions with an all-new storyline and sophisticated digital 3D projection system that’ll take guests on a high-tech adventure you won’t believe.

In the ride, Gru and his daughters have come to Universal Orlando to experience the park’s many thrills, attractions and shows, or so you think. But the animated family is really in Orlando to test out one of Gru’s new experiments and in doing so he ends up transforming the entire audience into his yellow minion friends. To begin the ride, guests will enter Gru’s home where they will be taken to his secret laboratory. It’s in his laboratory that guests learn they are actually being recruited to become minions. After picking up 3D glasses in the living room of Gru’s home and being scanned for “human germs” in the Minionization Prep Room, riders will board Minion Transformation Pods to begin their “minion training.” But just like in the hit film, things don’t go quite as planned and riders will be taken on a wild adventure with Gru, his daughters and the rest of the minions.  Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ends with a fun dance party where guests can show off their dance moves with fellow minions. The interactive celebration features a spinning disco overhead and large projection screens so that guests can see themselves dancing away with the minions to the disco hit "Boogie Fever." In addition to the new minion ride, guests to Universal can watch the tiny yellow creatures sing and dance in Universal’s all-new daily parade, Superstar Parade. The daytime show opened in May and is already one of the Orlando theme park’s most watched shows. That’s due in part to the state-of-the-art technology, street performers and your favorite characters from some of Universal’s most popular films, including those little minions. Along with other characters from the movie including Gru and his three daughters, the hilarious Twinkie-shaped beings sing and dance their way through the streets of the park. You can even stick around and meet the minions after the Superstar Parade with special meet-and-greet appearances at select locations throughout the day.
